SOUTHAMPTON'S trip to the Etihad is looking likely to be the first game shown on Match Of The Day next season according to Ladbrokes.
The bookies are now taking bets on which set of highlights will be aired first with Manchester United's trip to Goodison the 3-1 second favourite.
The first run-out for the new Spurs manager (Newcastle away) is a 4-1 chance while Reading's clash with Stoke looks unlikely to excite the producers and as such earns an 18-1 quote to open the show.
Looking at the match odds it's no surprise at this early stage to see Southampton travel with the biggest price of any team in the division for the win (11-1).
Everton are the biggest-priced home side at 3-1 while two of the three newly-promoted sides are favourites for their opening games.
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “The odds suggest the champions will give editors the biggest headache. A Southampton upset would also guarantee an early spot.”
Ladbrokes opening-day odds:
Arsenal 2/7 Draw 7/2 Sunderland 7/1
Everton 3/1 Draw 11/5 Manchester United 4/5
