LEAGUE TWO sides Mansfield and Wimbledon beat my treble last weekend – and have I learned my lesson?
Well, no! I'm starting my line this weekend with another League Two side who have caught my eye in the shape of Dagenham and Redbridge – but to be fair there are no top-flight or English Championship games to choose from.
The Daggers have won four of their last five, scoring exactly two goals in their previous four league outings.
In midweek they rested players but slammed Southend 5-2 in the JP Trophy after trailing 2-0. That was impressive stuff and the good news is bookies haven't quite latched on to the side's fab form and William Hill make them a tempting 8-5 to beat Cheltenham at home today.
Cheltenham have been scoring goals and picking up results at home but their only away success was at bottom of the table Accrington and they are missing experienced forward Jamie Cureton who remains crocked.
Next take Preston at home to struggling Crewe. The Railwaymen have lost their last two games 4-0 and haven't kept a clean sheet in 20 games.
Boss Steve Davis is under a bit of pressure and is unlikely to get any joy from a Preston side who were on a five-game run until last week's defeat at Peterborough.
Crewe have conceded 15 goals in five games, scoring once in a draw at Oldham and losing the other four. Preston lost to Oldham in the JP Trophy in midweek but that's not a concern and can be backed confidently at a best 4-7 with William Hill.
To complete the top treble it was a toss-up between Dundee and Forfar and I've gone with the latter as they're at home.
Forfar beat Dunfermline 4-0 last weekend and that was a superb performance. Stranraer can put on a show as they did when losing 5-3 at Hibs in the Capital One Cup but in the league they've taken just one point on the road.
Crucially their record at Station Park is woeful and they've lost on their last seven visits. I'm willing to take a chance on Forfar who are a best 6-5 with William Hill and Coral but anyone who isn't sure should swap them for Dundee at Dumbarton.
