LAST night didn't go to plan, it was a bit of a mess in all honesty, although Austin Ekeler found the endzone at evens for us, so not a complete loss on the night.
My handicap on the Ravens and Cardinals was spot on, but the Cards become the first team in a long time to settle for 3 Field goals from inside the 5 yard line which screwed us out of the over, and John Brown was missed on what would have been a 52 yard TD.
Cleveland Browns @ NY Jets
This game took a turn for the worse in the week when it was announced that the starting QB for the Jets, Sam Darnold would miss out after suffering a case of Mono. Mono, of all things. He's out for this week, and probably at least a month.
I'll be honest, I'm not an expert on kissing diseases, but reportedly it can be quite debilitating. It means that Trevor Siemian will be starting at QB for the J-E-T-S which is not something that anyone would ever want to happen. He seems to have done all right in pre-season, but in 2017 when he was starting for Denver, he had 10 games, finished with 12 TDs and 14 INTs.
The bad news continues for the Jets, WR Quicny Enunwa is out for the season with a neck, CJ Mosley, their best Linebacker is out for tonight, and Leveon Bell their star RB is officially questionable with a shoulder injury although I expect he'll get a full work load.
Backup QBs usually target guys they've been training with, so second stringers, so maybe Trenton Cannon is in with a chance of some receptions tonight?
The other way of minimising a gash QB is quick, short passes. So using that logic probably Jamison Crowder (who had a ridiculous 14 catches from 17 targets for 99 yards last week) Either him or Lev Bell catching out of the backfield.
One last guy to maybe look for is their tight end Ryan Griffin who had 3 catches last week, but ran the most routes of any TE in the league.
The Browns suffered a humiliating and hilarious defeat at home to the Titans in week 1 with their offensive line falling apart under pressure from mainly Cameron Wake.
It was always an area of concern for the Browns and it proved so.
Baker Mayfield was definitely not “feeling dangerous” last week. I do love seeing his smug arrogance coming back down to earth a little.
There's no doubting he's got talent though, and the Browns put together some good drives as Baker connected well with Odell Beckham Jnr for 70 yards. Having signed from the NY Giants he knows how to play in Metlife stadium and it wouldn't shock me at all if he got in the endzone tonight.
Jarvis Landry is back to second fiddle, and David Njoku is a tough one to get on a going day. They should be able to run the ball tonight as well so Nick Chubb should have a big day, even in a poor week 1 he had 75 yards on the ground.
I've got to take the Browns to win this one, they're going up against a beaten up team with a backup QB so I'll take them to cover the spread, you can get -6 on Skybet, whereas it's at 6.5 on 365, so make sure you shop around.
Recommended Bets
- Cleveland Browns minus 6 – 10/11 (Skybet)
- Odell Beckham Jnr. anytime TD – 11/10 (Will Hill)
Good luck if you're following.
Thanks, mate
