I think we can all agree that we're glad to see the back of 2020, an absolute disaster of a year that's brought so much pain, suffering and disruption to the lives of many.
Our community here has felt that pain as keenly as anyone following the sad and sudden loss of our gaffer, Mr Fixit. So, if you're raising a glass to welcome in the new year please keep Paul in your thoughts.
The many messages of condolence have been a great source of comfort to Paul's family and we can be proud of how we've kept Paul's flame alive here on the site. We head towards 2021 with hope and determination to continue to make the site the best we can in Paul's honour.
Here's to a better year ahead for all of us!

Good day fancied corners in both games well done any winners?
Couple for oz in the morn, double header starting at around 6am uk time. First match up sees the Phoenix take on Sydney. The nix lost quite a few of their better players during the close season, guys like cacace Taylor and hooper all moved on, hooper has been replaced with tomer hemed but the guys at the back haven’t been replaced with like for like quality and I think that’s 1 of the reasons Wellington could struggle to replicate the past 2 seasons top 6 finishes. The other reason is that they are having to play from a hub in Australia so there will be no home advantage for them this season, not for at least the first 5 or 6 games anyway til they get acclimated to their new surroundings. I feel this is a factor because when it happened back in July they were only able to win 1 of their last 7 matches as opposed to the 9 game unbeaten run they were on pre lockdown (8 wins 1 draw) so for me it’s the sky blues to take the points. They had a few games at the start of December in the afc champions league and pulled off a couple of notable results smashing Shanghai Sipg 4-0 and getting a creditable draw with Yokohama so will have had that extra bit of playing time together plus they have kept nearly all their squad intact. The big loss for them will be Adam le fondre, like a lot of A league players he moved on to the Indian league as their season was getting up and running way before the A league but youngster Trent buhagier looks as tho he’s finally ready to step up this season and become a big player. The boys got pace to burn and he should get in amongst the goals this year. With these factors in mind I’m quite happy to take odds against for the straight Sydney win tomorrow.

As far as the 2nd game goes I’ve already said my piece on how I think the victory will have a good season this year but since they haven’t played yet I’ll keep my powder dry as far as backing a winner or team goals goes. Instead I’m going for a favoured bet of mine in the a league that involves cards and corners and has landed in every game so far this season and indeed in the only meeting between the 2 last season.

Yeah nb he’s just signed in the past few days so won’t be playing for a few weeks. Unlike Britain Australia take COVID seriously and anyone entering the country must undertake 2 weeks quarantine. Being a footballer does not give you special status so the earliest he’s available is 16th January game. Plus the guys 35 nearly 36, I think he’ll just be a squad player or impact player off the bench and he’ll be there to help buhagiar and Ivanovic develop.
