WHEN Saturday comes … there is usually too much choice and that makes punting more difficult.

Regulars will know most of my tips have bombed the past two Saturdays only for me to more than recoup the losses on the Sundays.

I'd rather win both days but one is better than none. There are of course fewer games to look at on Sundays and that's gone in my favour.

Having failed miserably two Saturdays in a row I've changed tact a little. Normally I go through as many games as possible in the eight Scottish and English leagues.

This week I've been focusing more on Scotland and the English Premier League as well picking out a handful of games from League One and League Two.

Let's hope it works – also leaving out aways and as usual no points on the draws. They're just for fun. And finally no team is on more than one line which is unusual for me. The only long shot is the moneyback fivefold.

My first Saturday Super Single is Watford to beat Stoke at home and picked that before putting up a shortlist. From the shortlist I'm taking Arbroath at East Fife – with the Smokies on fire and netted 18 goals in their last three wins.

The rest of the picks are reasoned on the Scottish and English previews while unbeaten Valencia feature on the Top Treble at lowly Alaves in an early kick-off.

Saturday’s card always looks great but most often proves a false economy if you fall into the ‘everything looks great’ trap…best advice is stick to what you know…

    SOLIHULL MOORS VS. FYLDE:

Can’t help thinking this one will see some goals for the travelling army whilst a clean sheet for Fylde is rarer than Craneguy’s weekly salad intake

Solihull sit rock bottom but have scored in each of their last 4 home games – as for Fylde, they have scored in all but one of their last 17 games…two bets that interest me:

    FYLDE OVER 1.5 TGS…5/6
    ????

    OVER 3.5 MGS…6/4
    ??

    ****************************

For the speculative punter – I’ve picked out the games I reckon might see a few from my beolved National League North…

    NLN GOALS 5-FOLD:

    ALFRETON
    BLYTH
    FC UTD
    GAINSBOROUGH
    LEAMINGTON
    SPENNYMOOR

    OVER 2.5 MGS 6-FOLD…12.5/1
    ?

    Best of luck.

Final at 15.30. Live on the red button.

    England u17 vs Spain u17

Goals could well be the way. And could be added to double and trebles

    Over 2.5 is 1.57
    Over 3.5 is 2.38.

What a player, great finisher and doing it on the big stage,he would be ideal slotting in the middle between Mane and Firmihno as he also has the pace, pleased he’s a liverpool player he’s been recieving rave reviews for some time now he’s ready.Owen come on the big stage at the same age.

This game , St Mirren v Greenock Morton looks tricky,- untrustworthy in the bookies so far

Very tough card today and unfortunately I’m backing BTTS on Mr F’s SS. While Watford should prevail, both sides are seeing plenty of goals recently, and despite how good Watford have been, they have only won once by more than a goal at home in their last nine wins. Stoke have also enjoyed their success at Vicerage Road over the past couple of seasons and have scored in their last three trips on the road (twice at the Etihad).

    Watford/Stoke BTTS @ 4/5 @ 365 – 5 points

Damn haven’t been able to get on the website for a few hours (database connection issues?)…. I did have a full write up on both A-League matches with all my tips. Here it is. First match has already occurred with all my tips/bets landing, but second match hasn’t kicked off yet. (sorry folks – I was trying to post for ages!)

1 out of 2 last night on the A-League for me, and today we have two more evenly sided contests. First up we have Wellington Phoenix hosting Brisbane Roar.

    Wellington Phoenix v Brisbane Roar:
The Phoenix are missing key defender Durante through injury, but otherwise have a full squad. They’ve looked fairly lackluster so far this season, with two losses and a draw to show for their troubles, but in fairness have played three of the best sides in the league. They are always a handful in Wellington, and now they are finally against a somewhat mediocre side, they will fancy their chances of picking up some points.

Roar haven’t won thus far this season, losing all 3 of their games against Newcastle, Adelaide and Melbourne City. They are playing okay football, and Maccarone is proving a handful for most defenses.

I think we’ll see goals here, as the loss of Durante does expose the Phoenix at the back. Neither side has managed a clean sheet in any game in the first 3 rounds. I also Maccarone to convert as well for the Roar.

    Adelaide United v Melbourne City:
The Reds have been decent so far, with two draws and a win in some tough fixtures. They’re back home to face Melbourne City, but have suffered from the loss of key defender Gulum. With defensive partner Regan still out injured, they are seriously exposed at the back.

City have looked the goods so far this season, with 3 straight wins. They haven’t looked super convincing at times, but they have more depth than most other sides other than Sydney FC, and are equal favourites with Sydney for the title.

This one has goals all over it. Sooner or later, City’s attack is going to start punishing sides, and there’s no better time than now against an Adelaide side who loves attacking more than defending, and has limited defensive options available.

    Tips:
    Brisbane Roar – score before 54th min @ 1.83 – WON
    Massimo Maccarone – atgs @ 3.20 – WON
    Phoenix v Roar – over 2.5/3 goals @ 1.85 – WON
    Adelaide v City – over 2.5 goals @ 1.90
    Melbourne City – score before 51st min @ 1.83

    • hampy 6 years ago

Well I didn’t know Ross McCormack was with Mel city… Scored 2 today already should do well over there. Seems to be there bit before he should playing wise tbh.looks like you did as well as me out that over game mate I had over 10.5 corners also.. WD

    • obi wan cannoli 6 years ago

Cheers hampy. Yeah Ross signed with City only this season. This is his 4th game with the club. Will be banging in the goals all season against our rubbish defenders over here. I was surprised as anyone to see him come here. Most decent-ish players only come here for their retirement plan, if they aren’t quite up to getting over to China for the big money.

At least it’s a nice lifestyle here! :)

    • hampy 6 years ago

That must be his thinking too obi haha. Probably thought he’s waited long enough for real Madrid to sign him may as well get some sun in Australia instead

Had an idea you’d be doing your usual anyone but Utd tips macca, Still thinking Liverpool look overpriced for the title ??as you predicted a few weeks back. Cant be wishing you luck with ‘ur bets today sorry :)

    • maccathered 6 years ago

I Never predicted Liverpool for the title at all i’m not stupid, don’t take my tips personal United not playing well enough to win this game sorry pal,if united were playing well then i would have tipped them.

    • wiggle 6 years ago

Spurs not good enough to beat Liverpool at home last week. But, Spurs to beat Utd away and without Kane????

    • maccathered 6 years ago

Did you see Utd v Liverpool??Look the season has just begun and one thing i can tell you is where the teams sit now in the table is not where the teams will finish,i have never seen a premier league title won in the first ten games,Man utd without fellaini and Pogba are weak this has showed in their last two premier league games hence Losing to Huddersfield which i may add deservedly so.I have not tipped spurs to win i have tipped them double chance which mean i win if the game is drawn,my nb bet is for spurs to win small stake they have a chance.

  11. hampy 6 years ago

You wasn’t alone obi I’ve hit 6/7 in plays already this morning granted I’d only would of posted a couple but I’ll start of with our game
Fully expecting a draw and hills are offering 6/1 for lukaku to score first only available between 1030am until kick off think its well worth a fiver maybe even though in my mind it could well be a 0-0

    • hampy 6 years ago

      Man utd v spurs Draw

Lukaku first scorer 6\1 (special price willy hills 1030am-ko only)

    • maccathered 6 years ago

Lukaku doesn’t score agianst the big teams mate never has done,no fellaini or pogba means his service will be Limited good luck anyway.

    • hampy 6 years ago

Only on with a small amount more of a fun bet if get home in time for match as in work. I feel most likely 0-0 or 1-1 pal. Understand price only 4\6 otherwise I’d of tipped that too, too short in my eyes

  12. wasclueless 6 years ago

Pointed out last weeekend that Macclesfield were being taken to lightly by the bookies against a struggling leyton orient team. Maccies were 2/1 for win and won 1 nil without Orient really threatening.

ill be backing against Orient again today as they travel to a Wrexham team who have proved to be a pretty solid outfit. They were on a 11 match unbeaten run in the National league before they lost to Flyde.
Im on Wrexham to get back to winning ways in front of their home faithful at odds of 5/4 with 365.

    Wrexham win 5/4 b365 GL

I’ll keep this brief as I’m only briefly awake after a night shift.

    QPR v WOLVES

well we’re in great form and there’s a feel good factor at the club after our reserves gave a good account of themselves at Man City.

Back to the important bit now… the league. Sheffield have knocked us off too spot because they played last night. Obviously we want that back.

I do expect a win today but don’t think it’ll be an easy one. We should be unchanged from the team who played Preston. Maybe Vinagre in for Douglas but don’t see any reason to change.

We’re better away from home as the Home teams have to try to attack us which then gives us time me and space. If we’re at home teams can try to break up play.

    Wolves win (NAP) – 19/20 – 3 points

    Wolves 2+ goals – 10/11 – 2 points

    Bonatini atgs – 7/5 – 1 point

    Jota atgs – 8/5 – 1 point

    Derby starting 11.

    Carson
    Wisdom/Keogh/Davies/Forsyth
    Huddlestone/Ledley
    Lawrence/Vydra/Johnson
    Nugent

No Chris Martin to face his old side – always practically guaranteed he’ll notch against Norwich, but with Nugent and Vydra being Derby’s every present goal threats ( Vydra especially ), why change it.
Russell has picked up an injury and misses out, so the only change to the starting 11 is Johnson – who used to play that position FOR ……….. Norwich.

Still think Vydra and Nugent are Derby’s ones to be feared up front and last week, Vydra made us poor rams fans wait a full 3 minutes before he burst the onion bag. That took him to joint highest scorer on 3 in the championship. The goalscorer market isn’t really something I participate in, but Vydra’s strike rate from shots taken is astounding.

We’re 6 matches unbeaten and having won our last 2, but 3 draws also against 3 wins and 2 draws from Norwich’s last 5 suggests this will be a tight game. The neutrals would probably go for the btts or a draw, but I kinda like our chances in this match, Norwich are beatable. We are a bit patchy on the road but have picked up a decent draw in Cardiff and Brentford. Norwich will come at us and that suits us just fine.

I think this should be another high corners game from both sides, cards seem to be on the low side recently, but i’m taking the 11/4 on offer with betfair for the Rams win. October and November is always our purple patch.

    best of luck folks.

    • nathanufton 6 years ago

Nugent opens the scoring for the rams right at the end of the first half. 1 nil the Rams. its currently 6-1 to Norwich on corners so this is looking like a high corners game, although i’d like to the Rams to rack a few more up.
Norwich thought they had a penalty about 5 mins before the Derby goal but replay showed the Norwich fans should of gone to specsavers. Game on.

    • nathanufton 6 years ago

Martin has also come on for Vydra – you watch him get on the scoresheet now.

    • nathanufton 6 years ago

Norwich reply on 70 mins. This match is definitely open ended, i’d be surprised if this ends up all square. its also 1-2 on cards count too.
Norwich just used up the 3rd sub, I think one of their subs has just been subbed. And Derby get an offside goal. Still 1-1.

    • nathanufton 6 years ago

2-1 Sam Winnal from the Rams. Not feeling smug, but I did just chuck a £20 on the rams win in-play at 11/2.

Currie Cup final about to kick-off & my Sharks have been by far & away the best team all season but it’s a final & anything can happen and Province have hit their straps so I expect a close one. Couple small stakes bets. Under 52.5 points 5/6 (Down to 48.5 now). Province +6.5 (4/5). Over 4.5 penalties (6/5). Successful drop goal (2/1). Sharks to win by 1-12 (13/8). Football: On over 10.5 corners in the Sunderland game (5/6) & Fulham/Rotherham win double (6/5). Enjoy

Hi guys hope you are having a great day as far as putting goes.

Morning technical problem means you missed my first NAP of the day from down under NBL as we backed Brisbane Bullets +2.5 winning as they defeated visiting Melbourne Utd.

Early NHL matchup sees Buffalo hosting visiting San Jose Sharks who start Aaron Dell 0-2-0 GAA 2.58 SV .887 he as allowed 12 goals in 138 minutes on the ice and he face Buffalo aiming for 2nd win at home with Robin Lehner between the pipes posting 2-3-1 GAA 2.73 Sv% .913 against Sharks offense scoring 3 G/P

    NAP
Buffalo Win @2.76 Risk 1 Unit

Buffalo Over 2.5 Goals @1.91 Risk 1.2 Unit

    Totals Over 5.5 @2.04 Risk 1 Unit.

  61. leroy 6 years ago

Easy winner at Clyde with that one ending 2-4 but it proved to be the only winner.

A Shrewsbury and Walsall goal short of a full house is another way of looking at it, though. Fine margins.

    Well done all winners. :)

    Purple patch !!!!

Onwards now to 2x trebles – both £65, one with acca edge – both with betfair

    Hull win 11/10
    Bayern Munich win 1/3
    Athletico Madrid win 6/10

with acca edge, it pays around 2.4/1 + stake ( one fails for payout ).

  89. ste_smith 6 years ago

One I’ve picking out from the Big PPV card tonight.

    Dillian Whyte v Robert Helenius

Whyte the heavy favourite here, probably rightly so. Although I’d be nowhere near confident enough to back him at 1/7.

The angle that appeals to me is the ‘fight to go the distance’. Neither man has ever stopped anyone of note. Whyte’s best stoppage win was domestic-level Ian Lewison and Helenius has no stoppages of note. Both have only been stopped themselves the once – Whyte memorably and excusably to Joshua and Helenius surprisingly to Johann Duhaupas when his stamina completely failed him.

This in mind I see it reaching the final bell (likely in Whyte’s favour). 7/4 looks a nice price. There’s the slightly safer option of over 9.5 rounds at 11/10 if you’re concerned about Helenius’ stamina late on.

Fight to go the distance 7/4 (Bet365)

    • drogers 6 years ago

Nice. I was on O9.5 and the Whyte decision.

    • ste_smith 6 years ago

? Looked at Whyte points myself but thought if Helenius really applied himself he was capable of getting a decision, as he proved in the first two rounds.

However, his stamina’s still shite and more importantly, his desire is even worse.
