Mr Fixit’s Top Tips: Back Champions League chasers

IT was a disappointing day despite picking out a lot of big-priced winners.

Alloa, Falkirk, Cowdenbeath, Southampton and Burton were among the sides I tipped up but it was the likes of Sheffield United and Lincoln who beat me and closest I came on the goals bets was needing a Scunthorpe strike.

Swansea were a disastrous choice of Super Single and I should have gone with my first thoughts and stuck with Alloa who made it four wins in a row at home to QoS.

On the VIP tips Ross County beat me for a 43-1 fivefold and that summed up my day,

Some decent games to look at on Sunday including the Celtic v Aberdeen Scottish Cup semi-final and Premier League games between Liverpool and Chelsea.

On the Continent there are plenty of big games as the race for Champions League places hots up in countries such as Spain and Germany.

I'm starting with a Super Single on the early Spanish game which features relegation battlers Valladolid at home to Champions League contenders Getafe.

It's been a dream season for Getafe who are two points behind fourth-placed Getafe with a game in had. It's almost a must-win for them and they showed they can handle the pressure by beating another contender in Athletic Bilbao last weekend.

Valladolid are just clear of the drop zone on goal difference and won't give an inch but Getafe have the quality to take the points. If you want to play safer take Getafe draw no bet at 7-10.

Update: Getafe down to 10 men after 63 minutes then go 2-1 down but save point in injury time. So red card cost them and well done if you took draw no bet instead.

My over 2.5 goals treble is based on stats and could be taken at over 3.5 for a lower stake.

Start with Hoffenheim v Hertha Berlin with this coming up in four of five for the home men and five out of five for the visitors. Three of the last four meetings have gone over 2.5 with four out of five seeing both score.

Fortuna v Bayern is an interesting one with the German champions aiming to move back above Borussia Dortmund to the top of the table. They're unlikely to get it easy in Dusseldorf though and goals could be the way to go.

It was 3-3 in Munich in November and Fortuna's last six have gone over 2.5 goals including a 5-2 defeat at Wolfsburg. Bayern showed their class by thrashing Dortmund 5-0 last week and before that beat Heidenheim 5-4 in the German Cup after extra time.

Utrecht v Vitesse have seen both score and over 2.5 match goals in six out of seven. Utrecht's last four have totalled 22 goals including a 5-0 loss at Den Haag and 6-2 defeat of VVV Venlo. Five of Vitesse's last six have gone over 3.5 goals with four going over 4.5 including two 3-3 draws.

The Top Treble features three Champions League chasers in Germany and Spain and hopefully there are no more shocks today. Take Eintracht at home to Augsburg, Bilbao at home to Rayo and Valencia to beat Levante in the derby.
