I SAID before the game Liverpool can put one foot in the Champions League final – and they have after an extraordinary night at Anfield.
In fact at 5-0 up the Reds had both feet in Kiev but while Roma's two late goals have given them hope I don't see a way back for them as Liverpool are likely to score in Italy.
It was an incredible game and we might not hear from maccathered for a while as reports say he self combusted in the second half.
My Super Single didn't take too much working out and was Mo Salah to score first while on the £10 to £1000 challenge the vote went in favour of Liverpool to score 2+ which was lucky as the other two options were losers. So we're over £100 and that's 15 winners and a void from the last 16 bets.
More than 1200 people voted and that was great to see – next bet might will be Friday or Saturday. I thought about a combo tonight and tomorrow but in reality I'm trying to find three winners from three games and it's limiting myself too much.

There's not much else to look at on Wednesday but Bayern Munich v Real Madrid and if it's half as good as the first semi-final at Anfield we're in for a treat.

Derby upset the form books last night and whilst I did advise you not to follow my lead and take the Derby to win, my gut feeling paid off but I left a lemon on the site with advising to bet against the rams.
Some crumbs of comfort though, I strongly advised this would be a card-fest and although bet365 did say it ended 4-0 to Cardiff, Derby’s Cameron Jerome did get booked in injurytime to make it 5 total yellows, so if anyone had some action on that and bet365 have not accredited that 5th card and it affects your bets, tell them to watch the screen right after Jerome scored.
Derby had the momentum right up until Cardiff scored which was a sucker punch, and as we’ve only come from behind once and won this term, I thought ” here we go “. Cardiff gained some confidence then and grew into the game having a good spell of 20 odd minutes where they controlled the game. Both sides could of netted very early on and both sides were guilty of being wasteful on the end product.
Cardiff had a legitimate shout for a penalty turned down – I suspect because the ref had set his stall out early from the signs that Cardiff showed with the fouls. Many were missed. Jerome getting bundled to the floor and still beating 2 defenders and the keeper to make it 1-1. Derby then grew a good 30% and a 2nd mistake saw Wisdom mug their left back to square a ball to the fresh of the bench Vydra ( who else ) who thumped it past the keeper for 2-1. ( I looked at my 9/5 price I had at half time and thought i’d just flushed it down the loo – ht price on Derby was now 11/1. ).
That goal gave Vydra his 20th league onion bag burster of the season and his 21st in all competitions. I think the spell on the bench for the last 25 mins against a tiring Cardiff side was lightbulb moment.
Jerome in injurytime got involved in another tussle with defenders ( his 26th of the match ) – he won that one too and poked it past the Cardiff keeper to send the Bluebirds back to Wales with their tail between their legs.
James Morrison of Cardiff had a shocker – ( the youtube video slagging off Keogh in particular makes rather amusing viewing now ). Keogh raised his game big time and although he’s lost the armband for 6 straight games, he was a man on a mission. Wisdom, Keogh and Jerome + the late cameo from Vydra gave us that win and its only the 2nd hard fought thriller we’ve had all season – the other against Villa !! Guess who we play in 3 days time.
I suggested that Derby had swapped to a new formation utilising Wisdom and Forsyth as wingbacks – probably their best positions. This apparently was not the case, we played a 3-4-3 formation with Wisdom and Forsyth on right and left defence. Maybe that is our key to see us till the end of the season.
Worth mentioning: Fulham play Friday which should see them leapfrog Cardiff into 2nd spot. If Cardiff play as badly as they did against Derby, Cardiff could well drop points against a Reading side that are fighting for their lives. If Fulham win, ( I’ve not checked pts or done the maths ) but Villa won’t be able to finish 2nd meaning they’re in the playoffs. They have 2 choices, either throw down the gauntlet and play Derby to win in what could be a rehearsal for a potential playoff game with the Rams, or rest a few players, consolidate their position by grinding out a few pts with fresh legs for the May playoffs.
A smart manager would rest players, but then again, possibly at the cost of momentum. This could play into Derby’s hands. Its not an impossible dream, but Derby making the playoffs is totally in our hands. Villa could/should be a tough game, but it depends on how Steve Bruce wants to play it. ( He was at Derby last night watching ). Derby then have Barnsley who are also fighting for their lives. I think Derby will be too much for Barnsley and they could go down. Maybe assisting Burton who may just pull off one hell of an escape job with the skin of their teeth.
