FIRSTLY let me wish everyone a happy Christmas and good punting over the festive period.

I advised going to Holland for goals on Christmas Eve and the Dutch duly obliged with all four games going over 3.5 goals.

They were the only matches I looked at and from them I managed to land an 11-4 goals treble. That was a nice Xmas gift and well done to everyone who posted Dutch winners.

It just shows you how easy it is when you only have a handful of games to consider.

There will be no tips on Christmas Day and I hope everyone has a good time. Spare a thought for those who have to work (like me) – and make sure you buy the Daily Record on Boxing Day or we'll have wasted our time!

I'll be back on Tuesday with an English Premier League preview, Dundee v Celtic preview and top tips on a busy card.

Had quite a few different winners myself today.
Mixed and matched a few tips with some of my own.
Unfortunately, I didn’t win TWO prizes from the Bankies Christmas Raffle.
Unlike someone we ALL know, eh Paul?
What were the odds of THAT double landing?

Anyway, Merry Christmas Paul, Hull, Alex, Greg, Jordan, Scott, Craneguy, and the all the other contributors, who have helped finance my trips to Benidorm this year.
    Long may it continue…???

I bloody deserve 2 wins in the raffle after some of the games I’ve seen this season – Kennoway Star away for one.
That was worth a bottle of wine on its own.

    • alex_mufc83 6 years ago

Merry Christmas Oz! Great to hear you’ve earnt a few bob to supplement trips in the sun, nice little reward that.

      Have a good one!

The Empire DOES strike back ?…

…in the 82nd minute to make it 2-2 and nail the all-important 4th goal!

    GRENADES VS. EMPIRE (2300 KO):

Might not be a case of the Empire strikes back here but the hosts are prone to conceding with only 3 clean sheets in their last 12.

Couple this with fact that 75% of the last 4 H2H’s have seen both teams scoring with 50% seeing 3-1 scorelines.

I’m opting for a bet that offers a bit of speculation with insurance built in!

    GL 3.0…2.00
    ???

Good luck and all the best for a happy and healthy Christmas everyone!

Posting this on here because its still fresh in my mind, there’s no 26th post up yet but its really about Derby County:

I pointed out to Mr F that Derby should really be on the Saturday super singles shortlist, but yes, the price was a tad short at 4/5 or so with most bookies. I got 10/11 for the Derby win, but wretched sleep put paid to my pre match thoughts and team news, but it was pretty much ” as you were ” for the Rams. Millwall pushed hard early on, but 3 goals – Nugent/Vydra/Nugent effectively ended Millwalls chances of getting anything from the match with just 28 mins on the clock played. Any poor bugger that decided to bang on the kettle between mins 23-28 and they missed all 3 rams goals. So that’s 3x 3 nils and a 2 nil from our last 4. I knew the bookies had dropped a bollock with the Derby price, but we’re STILL far from the finished article. George Thorne and Martin both match fit but having to tolerate late cameo appearances. 12 months ago, they’d be nailed onto the starting 11. What a dilemma.

Matej Vydra is showing his ruthlessness playing behind front man Nugent and Vydra notched his 14 league goal putting him 1 behind Sheff Utd hitman Leon Clarke on 15. For a few games after we’d played Hull at derby and thrashed them 5 nil, I bemoaned that without those 5 goals, our goals for/goal difference was largely dire. But 11 goals without reply from our last 4 has shoved both those stats through the roof. Cardiff slipped up, as did Bristol, and now we’re 3 points off 2nd – with our boxing day away game to Hull on the horizon.
Ignoring the playoff semi’s we played them – lost 3 nil at home, then beat them 2 nil at their, we’ve beaten them the last 3 times in the league. 5 nil recently and a 4 nil and a 2 nil. We hit a bit of a loose patch straight after we mauled the tigers because Bristol gave us a good old slap me down right after – that was September – the last time we lost away from home. I’m sure we’ve 5 away wins on the bounce now. We’ve conceded 1 in 7 games home and away too. 2 losses in 17 games, 4 draws and 11 wins.
Hull hate playing us, they know they have to start getting points at home and even with a new manager, he’s lost 2 of his 3 in charge. Also, Hull have won 2 of their last 3 boxing day matches, but I think they’ve only won 1 of their previous 6 on boxing day. Derby are still in the October/November purple patch with just Ipswich upsetting us 1 nil. Hull have to come at us for some points, if they do that, we’ll grab all the points. They have to, they’re a couple of bad matches away from a relegation scrap. This should play into the hands of Derby who are sky high in confidence – especially away from home. 2 more away wins and we equal last years tally with 20+ games to spare. Our goal machine in Vydra is poised to grab even more goals, Nugent is doing his best to add and I’ve not even mentioned Bradley Johnson – who’s scored 5 times for the rams against Hull.

I don’t think we’ll make many changes, maybe at left back, I think Lawrence could stay on the bench in favour of Johnson but you can be sure this match will have goals in it.

I was tempted to take the 31/20 on offer with betfair ( which I think is a Christmas gift ) I mean look at the current form, the head to heads, the moral for both teams, the goals scored and conceded, who Derby have played on the road and beaten. Hull are 7/4 for the win.

I’m more concerned with the Derby win with some to spare, which is why for the first time in months, i’m opting for a -1 straight handicap. @ 4/1 with betfair for the derby win.

If enough people grab it, we could really put a dent in the bookies Christmas party plans because this IS a gift.

Merry Christmas guys, i’ll see you hopefully sober over the festive period.

A couple of bets for tommorrow
    Tottenham v Southampton
Over 3.5 goals at 13/8 (NAP)
Over 4.5 goals at 4/1 (NB)
Should be a cracker this one especially with Harry kane in the form he is in.Southampton dropped Virgil Van Djik for their last game and it is thought he will be joining Liverpool in January in a deal rumoured to be worth 70 million and if this is the case then Southampton will be out of sorts and i fully expect Spurs to take advantage here, don’t underestimate Van Djiks absence as he will be a huge loss for this sort of game, also add Charlie Austin to the list and you have some top inform players missing for the visitors. Also worth bearing in mind is Pochetinno isn’t one for big rotation so should be ny on full strength.
    Liverpool v Swansea
Over 3.5 goals at 1/1 (NAP)
    Over 4.5 goals at 9/4
Should be another cracker,Swansea showed how weak they are when they were beaten 3-1 by Liverpool’s neighbours Everton, take nothing away from Everton for that result but they are no way near what Liverpool are.If Everton can put three past them then think of the damage Liverpool can do to them especially with crucial players set to miss out for the visitors. Also note Henderson misses this game due to a hamstring problem but that doesn’t make Liverpool weaker that only makes them stronger you have my word on that.In past games Swansea have caused Liverpool problems but i don’t see that here as they don’t have the players they had in that period.Expect rotation from Klopp but Liverpool do have strength in depth.
Best of luck all, hope everyone had a good christmas.
