Top Football Tips

IT'S a big night for six clubs in the Champions League and it's a shame Celtic are not involved.

Three of them will make the group stage and the other three will be consigned to the Europa League.

Celtic's conquerors Cluj take on Slavia Prague at home while Ajax travel to APOEL Nicosia after surviving a scare in the last round. LASK, who beat Basel home and away, are up against Bruges.

There's a big card in England with Championship, League One and League Two games and of course these can be difficult to call especially at this early stage.

I've picked out two both to score trebles and a moneyback fivefold. Sorry for not adding reasoning earlier but after what seemed like days of endless rain the sun came out and the golf course beckoned.

So let's start with the Champions League btts selections. All three games could produce goals and the aways sides will see an away strike as priceless.

LASK have been shocktroops having dumped Basel with both scoring in both legs and they host a Bruges side who netted three away to Dynamo Kiev in the previous round.

Cluj played pretty open at home to Celtic and were lucky not to lose then attacked freely at Parkhead when they need goals. Slavia Prague reached the Europa League quarters and are a much more experienced side. The Czechs will probably qualify and both should score in Romania.

APOEL usually score and have netted seven in four Champions League. They are up against it when Ajax visit but can score. The Dutch won 4-1 at VVV at the weekend and it was 5-4 on aggregate against PAOK.

In England I'm starting at Derby v Bristol City with the Robins' seeing this come up in five out of six. Derby drew 2-2 at Stoke on Saturday and two of three meetings with City at home have been score draws.

Add Ipswich v Wimbledon with both scoring and conceding. Ipswich have seen four out of five land btts while it's four out of four for Wimbledon.

Conplete the treble with Gillingham v Blackpool. Both sides' last three matches have brought up btts.

As far as the fivefold goes it's pretty speculative at 45-1 so bear that in mind.

Last night Wolves v Man United caught the attention of most people and there were various opinions on the game. Well done to those who called it correctly and there were some good shouts including Ruben Neves to score from outside the box at 18-1.

Neves' stunning strike landed my 21-10 goals double with over 2.5 at Zulte and in fact all the games I mentioned saw goals – Helsingborgs v Gothenburg, Tondela v Portimonense and Spartak Moscow v CSKA Moscow while I also tipped Fenerbahce to win. That would have been a nice sixfold but happy with the double.

Scott's members bet was both to score at Helsingborgs but star of the show was Greg with his Scottish Reserve League tips on the day he posted on how to make money backing these games. Well done to all the winners including HullShaker.

Well done with the double Mr F

On the red eye to Southampton tomorrow morning so will have something up around lunch time

Dundee United play Killie and Hearts host St Mirren ( both 2pm KO )

Hearts HT / FT at 4/5 looks the pick of the those St Mirren picked up three points from a possible 30 away from home last season. Hearts should be too good

Be interesting to see how United line up in their game. Could be goals

    Hearts HT / FT 4/5 (Bet365)

One day of hiccups on the Saturday and you’re back in your groove. Well done Mr F.
I’ve kept my own endeavours low key picking off small gains with my usual overs 0.5 goals, for me it doesn’t get all that exciting when my balance is in double figures, but I’ve stuck to what I enjoy best – and have the most fun with.
I started today on £402 and after picking 3 small prices off at 6pm in Denmark/Norway and Sweden, I then scooped up a generous 1/9 in the Man Utd game + a smaller price in the Smamrock Rovers game. I’ve then had a few singles, but then on £886, I saw Estuiantes in Argentina and 2 in Brazil 2nd tier Oeste and Cricium. The starting prices for all three were attractive but worrying. I took a 1/10, 1/8 and 1/7. 1 goal came in for 1 match before ht, the 2nd game delivered not long after ht, and it took until 60something minutes for the third to come in. Not exactly squeeky bum time in the match – that occurred earlier today when a goal came – I forget where – in the 94th minute. That last little treble boosted me again by 42% so I’m quite buzzed about it.
New pot @ £1233. My nails are bitten but not bleeding. I’m not even going to look at the card until I’ve slept on it. Good luck folks.

Disappointed you deleted my post Mr Fixit, there was nothing offensive said nor any foul language used. Nathan seems to enjoy protected status around here. I don’t know why you are happy for him to post this nonsense on your website.

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

If you don’t like nathan’s comments don’t read them – and I’ve said this before.
This forum has loads of good contributors who spend time to post and I appreciate them all.
There’s no need to slag the guy off – ignore him if you don’t like him.
No one “has protected status”. I just don’t like seeing personal attacks on punters.

    • boomshackle 5 years ago

Mr F I think you are saying you appreciate people posting winners after the fact which is what Nathan is doing here. I am not making any personal attack whatsoever. However, I cannot understand your logic that this is ok, if anything it will encourage others to do the same and eventually it will totally devalue the actual hardwork the genuine tipsters here put in day in day out, which other members benefit from. Greg, Hull, Bully, Macca etc.

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

No, I agree there is no point posting winners after the event – what I disagree with is the personal attacks.
People don’t need to read every comment.

    TURRIS-OLTUL T. MĂGURELE VS. RAPID
    Romanian Liga II
    20 August 2019
    16:45

I like the value for goals in this match. Rapid Bucharest travel to Turnu in this late afternoon clash for their first away match this season.

Rapid are doing well so far with a goalless draw and a 3-1 win this season so far. Today they face a Turris side who won both their matches this season 2-0 at home to Pandurii and 0-3 away at Daco Getica.

In their last 6 home matches Turris Oltul have won all of them with score lines of 3-1, 2-0, 6-0, 6-0, 9-1 and the recent 2-0 win to kick off their season(an average of over 4 goals a match) so it’s pretty obvious that they like scoring on home turf.

Rapid for their part have scored in their last 19 away matches a total of 54 goals. That’s an average of over 2 goals scored a match.

At odds of around 1.78 I think there may be some value in the Over 2.5 option for this match.

    Best bet
    Over 2.5 goals
    Odds 39/50

Just a word of warning on the Chinese bet, when checking lineups I’ve picked up on the fact that teams don’t take there version of the FA Cup seriously and the foreign stars aren’t often in the teams nor on the subs bench so all teams as a consequence are severely weakened with very poor homegrown players taking there places. Makes calling these fixtures extremely difficult, wish you best of luck tho 👍

No joy for me last night but happy with United’s performance , should have won the game . United controlled the game from the start but wolves did come back into it in the second half . two good goals . last night looking at it I thought it was a harsh penalty but looking at it again it was. the defender clipped pogba if it had been outside the box it would have been a free kick all day long so I don’t no what macca is talking about . I suppose it’s becau he hates united . and on Liverpool macca they have been 40 attempts on Liverpool’s goal this stage of the season compared to this time last season after 4 games . only 19 last year its only a matter of time till someone hammers Liverpool. 👹

    • maccathered 5 years ago

United were on top in the first half but the second half was mainly Wolves, you can see United are way off in terms of challenging 4 or 5 players short for me.Jurgen klopp is trying something different with his defence and they are playing a higher line than usual, why i don’t know but klopp is a winning manager so we will have to trust him,as long as we keep winning thats all that matters.

Wow, I wake up and there’s a ton of negative stuff about me, so I shall clarify for those that wish to judge. I’ve been doing my over 0.5’s for years now and when I started the thread, instead of it becoming a set of rules for people to read use to guide them, it became a focal point for ” what are you betting on next “. The thread was never created for that , instead I ended up being the guy that kinda checked off the final say on whether one should bet on certain games. the idea was to point those who wanted a new challenge into a new way of thinking, but not an out and out tip thread.
I also pointed out that until I’m well clear of betting with double figures, it gets a bit tedious for me, so I don’t post until I’m up and running. – to clarify, my selections often involve matches that start at the same time and thus I jump straight on them – often they’re in-play for the price boosts. But some of you scroll past my posts anyway, why are you moaning?
Believe me, if I put up all the matches I’ve an eye on – with follow up, there would be another 20 or 30 posts per day from me – more for you to scroll past.
Also, my Derby news: As much as I’d love to blow smoke up my a$$ weekly and tell you how wonderful it would be to lump on anything Derby related, I don’t !! People tipping one here are doing all the necessary checks to offer something of value for people to bet on. A good 95% of games my team are involved in, I’ll post up pre-match thoughts and team news. ( How many people on here do the same for the team they follow?? ) If I don’t like the look of something when say Mr F or any of the other regulars are looking at my team, then I will say something. I’d far rather put up info that steers people away from a losing bet than posting a solid one that lands. With 3 league games and 1 cup game this season, I’ve put up team news twice, and 4 times I’ve put up pre-match thoughts. Only twice out of the 4 games, I’ve suggested betting on Derby to win.
I don’t have protected status on this site, nobody has. I’m part of it because I enjoy contributing – that is it. When my bet goes north, I DO share it.
Concerning my current bet, I am now in cautious territory. For those interested, my tactics change at this point, I put the brakes on. Famous last words is avoiding over-reach. The big test for me is if I can stay disciplined enough to grind out a few matches a day – rather than 10.
I will be putting up some pre-match Derby thoughts. A few positives, but a lot of things I’m cautious of. Again, I’d rather pull up red flags that stop people losing a bet than posting something that might win.
Apologies to anyone that I may have peeved off, but as has been stated before, you have the right to ignore me and scroll right past.

Is buzzer the spokesman of your critics?

    • HullShaker 5 years ago

      More intrigued by Buzzer’s Dutch/Afrikaan reply 😂

Seriously though, and I’ve said it before, I really don’t see why folk give Nathan so much grief?

I get the fact the ‘rolling bet’ stuff is irrelevant if not posted in full but the detailed and time consuming reports re Derby’s games are packed full of genuine and informed information and that can only help if you are considering a bet on any game they are involved in?

It’s a tipping site and it’s all about sharing information and opinions – I’d sooner read one report from a transparent and knowledgeable fan than one packed full of shallow information and emojis from wannabe internet tipsters.

      Good luck tonight!

i had a over 2.5 goals in the Shanghai SIPG VS Shandong Luneng game it went 1.2 late on i cashed out straight away for the full amount then withdrew the money …since then the bet has been put down as a lost (VAR dissaloud goal) & my account now is in the minus – …………what would happen now would the withdrawal still go ahead & if i was ever to deposit again it would just deduct for the minus ?? i would think because i cashed out would that not make a difference ? any 1 else had this before ? thanks

    • nathanufton 5 years ago

It’s happened to me before, if Var overrules the goal, and there isn’t another, your account will stay in the minus. I think they also have the right to recall the payment back to your account.

    • razzler88 5 years ago

so if it goes back to 0 balance they have probably reversed my withdrawal

    • nathanufton 5 years ago

It is probable. I’d ring customer service and just square it away. You’re not gonna be paid out on it anyway. Last year, I did my bank builder and got up to several hundred, a goal came in. I cashed out, put it back on the next game. It took an age, but they voided the first goal but kept my stake on the 2nd game. Then voided my bet. then a goal came in on the first game and they put my winning bet back onto the 2nd game. Obviously with time trimmed off the 2nd game for a goal – the price had increased. Bet365 put my stake on that 2nd game with the enhanced price and not the original one. By the time they’d sorted it, the original 2nd bet was around 1/12, by the time they’d sorted it, I believe it was near ht and I got 4/11 if memory serves me right. It came in after ht. When all the chaos was going off, I was pulling my hair out because they’d not sorted it out, but when they did, It worked out better for me and worse for them. It’s swings and roundabouts with bookies. Their rules are similar, but different. Might be worthwhile scanning through their betting terms on what you bet on.

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Either they will minus it or work out the cashout offer should have been reduced.

fyi: @ Old Al, Oxford have just signed Derby’s George Thorne on a season long loan. After a stellar loan period from WBA – starting with his first game in a rams shirt ( the 5 nil against Forest ), he got an ACL away to Zenit St Petersberg in pre-season. After a long lay off, he was re-introduced around February that season, it was too early and spent the rest of the season on the physio’s table. He’s not been the same since. A few managers have tried him out but he is devoid of confidence. Possibly through lack of offers, possibly because the new Derby manager saw his potential, but Thorne surprisingly stayed on the books during the recent clear-out. He’s on big money but nearing the end of his contract. A fit and confident Thorne is a terrific player. Last season both Shackell and Thorne went on loan, one to Lincoln, one to Luton. Both had good seasons. If Thorne gets his mojo back, he’ll be an astute signing for Oxford.
Meanwhile, Nigel Clough’s Burton are struggling for results. A really good time for anybody to want to play them.

Had a look at todays games for my bank builder and currently, there is nothing imminent that I can take a punt on, the markets are not there. I’ve not really looked much at the champions league qualifiers, but if its not too hot in Cyprus, Ajax should be able to deal with Apoel Nicosia. The capital is miles from the coast and humidity and cooling sea breeze is virtually none existent. The evening kick off will help though.
Of the evening kick off’s, the only 3 matches I’m looking at for a goal are Hull, Birmingham and Derby’s games. I’ll be checking stats shortly. Prices at the moment are miserly, only offering a combined 18%. If I see a red flag, I’ll pull it up.
Early thoughts regards Derby hosting Bristol: Last season, we beat them 2-1 at Bristol and drew 1-1 at home. The season before, when Derby were flying high – we went to Ashton gate full of confidence and went 1 nil up. Then Bristol decided to turn up and put 4 past us in the 2nd half. It was a wake up call. When we hosted them later on in the season, it ended 0-0. The previous time Derby hosted them ended 3-3, so 3 draws against the Robins at Derby on the bounce shows us that they’re no pushover.
Having cashed in on Bobby Reid, Bristol’s obvious goal threats are former Derby players Weimann and Palmer. Palmer was a loanee – from Chelsea I think, but at Derby he was average, Weimann never got enough football and often got played out of position. He looked lively when we fielded him but always looked out of his depth as a winger, hence we sold him. He seemed to hit the ground running at Bristol. Ex players have a habit of biting us in the bum when they play us.
Derby’s Patterson – on loan from Bristol is ineligible to play, Marriot doesn’t look fit, Bogle, Anya and Shinnie are both injured and Thorne has just joined Oxford on loan. Waghorn and Lawrence are both on 2 goals. Waghorn missed a penalty against Swansea and could of had a hattrick against Stoke. Lawrence was absent for much of the Stoke game. Bielik looked good in the middle of defence when he came on and Clarke is also playing well.
This game could be a trip-me-up for the rams.
Whilst we did contribute 5 corners in the Stoke game, Stoke got 10. Of late, Derby have rarely racked up big numbers in the corners race. Derby’s achilles heel is defending from set pieces. Been like it for 2 years now. So I expect Bristol to play for corners.

Ignoring the 2-1 pre-season friendly win against Bristol, Derby have lost once in 12 matches against Bristol. Bristol have won once in their past 11 matches against Derby. Bristols 3 league games have yielded 1 loss, 1 draw and 1 win, Derby have 1 win and 2 draws.
Both sides will fancy their chances for all 3 points and BTTS is a distinct possibility – Mr F has already tipped it. 5 of the last 7 head to heads has seen BTTS.
I’ll be around at 7pm with any team news.

    Evening Gents

Struggling for time today so only had time this morning to post this afternoons SPFL Reserve matches – Have a had a look through the English matches and have picked out two bets:

    English Championship Goals Special:

5 matches tonight and backing my favourite goals total Market. Enough teams involved tonight where we should see goals. Luton and Wigan have seen 12 and 10 goals scored in their respective matches and the rest of the sides have all seen at least 6 goals from their three games

Skybet offering 4/5 for 13+ goals which I think is a fair prices and has a good chance of landing. Wouldn’t be surprised to see 7 or 8 of the sides score and that bodes well for the 13+ goals and over 1.5 in each game

    Recommended Bets:

    13+ English Championship Goals
    4/5 (Skybet)
All 5 matches over 1.5 match goals
    11/4 (Skybet)

Another goals market I really like is the goal in both halves market, not sure what the stats are but games where you have goals there is a high chance they’ll be goals scored in both halves. Worth throwing together 6 or 8 team accumulator. I’ve had 5 or 6 of these up this season and hit the bar with and just as many.

May start posting some – for those who love goals definitely one to get involved in

    • nathanufton 5 years ago

It’s good to see someone with a similar view to how I see the championship games tonight. I had eyes on a goal in Hull/Birmingham and Derby’s game, but I’ve been looking at each game in the championship delivering a goal + 1 in the Ipswich game + possibly Ajax. I’ll probably steer clear of the Ajax game because Nicosia have it really against them, so may park the bus. My only real worry is if Middlesbrough don’t lay down a marker and soon. They missed out on the top 6 by a fraction and their team is possibly a bit weaker, but with Wigan also coming up, they’re gonna want to get some points early against the established championship sides.

  45. warktheline 5 years ago

    Slightly early in season for me to be betting but the following stands out ;
    LINCOLN to WIN 13/8.

    Summary:
Can’t praise the Cowley brothers highly enough, and hoped beyond hope my club would had gone hunting for them after McCarthy’s tedious tenure ended! As per, clueless Evans didn’t blah blah blah!

Lincoln have hit the road running and currently have won all of their 3 games, that bodes well for tonight’s encounter against MK Dons, whom they completed the double over last season in Div 2! Tisdale’s sides like to play football the ‘proper way’ but Cowley’s sides have a reputation for grinding such sides into submission , go ask Mark Cooper at Forest Green! MK Dons lost last time out against another side ( Wycombe ) who also enjoy mixing up against the purer sides, all this combined I believe points to value in Lincoln !

Nice to see many of the motley crew still posting winners! 👊👍

Good evening all, great site this so many good tipsters, don’t get lot time with work and then my youth work, to post on reg basis..
Like look of these tonight altho midweek results can be dodgy, anyway going for; Ipswich.. Mansfield.. Plymouth in and around 5 half 6/1 for the treble.. All three should be vying for promotion come the business end of season..
Will also have the same three teams to score 2+ goals at around 6 half – 7/1 for that treble roughly..
Good luck with all your bets tonight..

    Derby team news:

DERBY COUNTY: Roos, Lowe, Keogh, Clarke, Malone, Bielik, Huddlestone, Dowell, Bennett, Lawrence, Waghorn.
Subs: Hamer (gk), Davies, Buchanan, Evans, Knight, Jozefzoon, Marriott.

2 changes, Bielik gets his first league start in place of Evans, and Bennet is preferred instead of Jozefzoon on the right wing. Bielik I think is there to toughen up the holding midfield area with Huddlestone – who is a bit slow. Jozefzoons performances this season have warranted him not even making the reserves bench.

Bennett might assist with getting a few extra corners, he’s more of a goal threat than Jozefzoon, but I’m inclined to think Waghorn and then Lawrence are the likely goalscorers for the Rams.
I’ve said it before, Derby cannot defend set pieces, If Bristol have done their homework, they’ll play and force corners. I’d be very surprised if Bristol don’t win the race to 3 5 or 7 corners.

Mr F has already tipped the BTTS to land, I can’t disagree. bet365 have it priced at 8/11.

As this game really could go any way, I think Bristol +1 corners handicap at 20/21 with bet365 has every chance of landing.

    Good luck folks.

Cfr Cluj is having a thrilling start. And I can say that win on Celts, so sorry for all fans here, is creating an electric atmosphere in the city there. As B-league team, Cluj will always remain underdogs at this stage and especially against opponent of the day.

Slavia sold Zmrhal to newly promoted Brescia and mastermind Stoch went to Paok. Last season Slavia was a quarter finalist facing would be champ Chelsea. They did well and scored 3 against the Blues. Experience will play a huge part here.

However, Cluj is currently fearless and will ask to bring it on. If they don’t concede early, I see them strive through a win here today @3.40
a DNB at 2.25 is also possible.

Having early European matches will play in favour of Romanians. Most important, they got to give the Celts justice.
Also, if you are going to follow this bet, Cfr Cluj to qualify is at 3.00 and will then worth a punt
This bet is to be drink with moderation :)

Here’s an interesting one Mike Fondop joined my team Chesterfield on Friday from Wrexham and scored 2 goals on his debut at Barnet and probably could and should have had a hatrick. I’m not saying he’s definitely going to be amongst the top scorers (highest scorer in the league is only on 4 goals currently) but he’s listed at 200/1 on bet365 (who still think he’s at Wrexham) which I think is way too big of a price.

He’ll play every week (he didn’t play much at Wrexham) and he will get plenty of chances because we are a fairly attacking side for the National League (btts all 5 games so that’s another market to keep an eye on) so I think it’s worth a couple of quid each way for a bit of interest

Had a look at Shortee’s Gremio/Palmeiras tips and Hullshakers Brazil game, so I guess in for a penny, in for a pound.
Those 2 games + Athletico Minero + Villa nova games. 1 is early kickoff in 35 mins time, the other 3x are 01:30am kickoffs. Good prices and could theoretically yield a 0.42/1. I’m sure it will go bang at some point, maybe I’ll get lucky.
    I’ll take the sp’s @ 1/10, 2/11, 1/14 and 1/8 – prices with bet365.

    Good luck tonight guys.

Red card for Sao Bento looked to have shafted this one but there’s the equaliser – shame it wasn’t in1st half for the 5/1!

BRASIL DE PELOTAS VS. SÃO BENTO (11.15pm)

Serie B action here and looking for a bit of redemption, both of last season’s H2H’s finished 1-1 and with Sao Bento finding the net in each of their last 4 away matches, their looks to be a touch of value in backing the following with the latter being speculative but at a big price given the uncharacteristic amount of goals in Brasi of late:

    Both teams to score

Late Night Owl and only worth a look for small stakes but it does have a certain appeal…

TALLERES REMEDIOS VS. DEPORTIVO ARMENIO (1.05am)

Argentina will never be my favourite leagues for goals but the lower divisions do throw up some mis-priced games from time to time – no guarantee this is one but I don’t wonder if the recently promoted away side might make an impact against the hosts who conceded 3 in their opener.

It’s been a while since they’ve met but when they have, scores have been good with 2-5-4-3-4-3 totals – historic yes but in SA these stats are often relevant:

    Over 2.5 goals
    (15/8, bet365)

    …and for any braver souls…

    Over 3.5 goals
    (4/1, bet365)

    Good luck!

Well, well – 42 minutes gone and a scoreline of 2-2…mad stuff and was well worth the punt 😀
