IT'S all about the Europa League tonight although Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday fans might not agree.

They're involved in an EFL Cup clash and it's been previewed in detail on the site.

There are also several Europa League games tipped and I've posted a preview featuring three of the British sides in action – Rangers, Hibs and Burnley.

I expect goals in the games involving the Scottish sides and Burnley should edged out Istanbul after scrambling past Aberdeen in the previous round.

I've looked at loads of other games and picked out a couple of trebles – and may add a Super Single.

I don't always like backing sides who don't need to win but Rosenborg and Basel should add to leads gained away to Cork and Vitesse.

Rosenborg beat Cork 2-0 in Ireland and in front of their own fans will be looking to put on a show. It's been a difficult spell for Basel whose lost their Swiss crown to Young Boys and were hammered by PAOK in the Champions League qualifiers.

However, they won 1-0 at Vitesse in the first leg and will be looking to build on that and their weekend win against Grasshoppers.

Complete the treble with Braga who lead Zorya 1-0. They're always decent at home and will be on the front foot as they look to seal the deal.

Braga beat Nacional 4-2 at the weekend and have won five of their last six at home in the Europa League. Zorya on the other hand have lost six out of seven on the road.

Well done to all the winners last night including Greg whose having a cracking week.

**LOST** – First half red card totally scuppered this one. Confidence was sky high on this as well. On the plus side, the clarets are through to the next round but far from impressive again, game could have really gone either way.

Booking for me Maribor v Rangers .
    50 + booking points 1/1
    20 + B.P. Each team 11/10.
Rangers have picked up quite a few cards since Steven Gerrard took over.

Steven Gerrard has also had a meeting with his players about bookings.

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

A lot will depend on how the scoring goes and what the ref’s stats are.

    • maccathered 6 years ago

What do you reckon to De Bruyne Mr f,big big blow for City and City backers. No one can say he wont be missed with his statistics.

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

De Bruyne on of their best if not best players so of course he’ll be missed but if anyone can cope it’s City.
Haven’t said yet how long he’ll be out but injury seems to be a bad one.

    • cockerspaniel 6 years ago

Maybe so Mrf – but Rangers do have a problem with a few of their players. Flannigan is suspended but Ryan Jack is back, and he is usually good for a card or two. I was looking for him to be carded – but i don`t know if any bookie is doing this market.

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

You will be lucky to get scorers never mind players to be booked – seemingly it’s a low category game for the bookies.

    • cockerspaniel 6 years ago

There is a lot at stake tonight for Rangers macca . Stevie wont care how many bookings his team get in this game as long as they get through .

Zenit will be looking to turn this tie around after their 4-0 defeat in the first leg, they are capable, for me though they will leave themselves open which should give us a high scoring game.
    Bordeaux v Mariupol
    Atalanta

Morning gents – it was close but no cigar for me yesterday…well done all winners and Greg Browning on another belting night!

I’m swerving the Europa games and heading deep into the Icelandic lower leagues this evening – there’s gold in them there hills

    MÍDAS VS. ÚLFARNIR (2130 KO):

This one really catches my eye and is a match that hails from Group B of the Icelandic 4 Deild –
I’m hoping everything the players touch turn to goals!

Midas may have had a mixed start but I reckon they’ll be too much for an Ulfarnir side propping up the Group table with just one win in twelve; that one and only win was their opener and they have gone on to draw two and lose 9 of their subsequent fixtures this campaign.

The hosts have had a few batterings themselves but have managed to win their last two games albeit against SR and Hordur – the team sitting a respective 2nd and 3rd bottom.

What is a common denominator is the preponderence for goals in both sides matches – here’s a rundown of the most recent 10 league games for both:

    H: 7-7-8-1-6-6-4-2-6-6

    A: 3-6-0-4-5-7-4-1-6

With the most recent H2H in June seeing Midas grab a 0-4 away victory, I can’t help but think the hosts may be able to add that goal-den touch to a great game:

    GL 4.0…1.975

    Best of luck ?

As I mentioned in my preview of the Molde v Hibs game, Molde are in a fine run of form at home. This includes beating the league leaders 5-1 on Sunday. Having 2 pts on Molde to score 2 or more @ 1.73.

  14. Johnb 6 years ago

It’s Thursday which means two things, (1) I’m back & (2) Hibs European Tour continues

    Molde vs Hibernian

It is a big shock that Hibernian are not taking a lead into this game in Norway, last week there was only one team in the tie as Hibernian dominated from start to finish, for all the good passing from back to front and their pressing off the ball Molde were pretty clueless up front and it was only the superb performance by their goalkeeper that means they are still in this tie, Molde should show a bit more in attack this time as they are at home on their plastic pitch, we have played on those pitches before and played well, as I said Molde should be better in attack especially if Erling Braut Håland is playing although as things stand it’s not certain whether he will play or not, the 5-1 scoreline against Brann at the weekend flattered Molde I think, the first goal was a penalty when the keeper didn’t need to challenge the Molde player as he was going away from goal and had a defender covering back, the second goal should have been an easy save for the keeper but he let the ball roll under his arms and after that Brann were chasing the game, Brann were shocking at the back and with Hibs defence better now we shouldn’t be as easy to get past

The Aker Stadion pitch is a wide pitch which will suit us and help us to play the Hibernian Way
The way Hibernian attack with pace can trouble any team and again on Sunday they dominated against St Johnstone who were fortunate with their deflected goal,
Hibernian haven’t played their strongest lineup yet but Thursday will see us pretty close to it,
Neil Lennon is building something special at Easter Road and the players can see that, that’s why players we had on loan last season Kamberi & Maclaren jumped at the chance to play for Hibs again with Kamberi turning down far better offers elsewhere
With Kamberi and Maclaren up front, Hyndman sitting in behind and Stevenson and Boyle bombing down the wings means Molde will have their work cut out to try and stop Hibs from scoring, then you also have Mallan pushing forward and he isn’t shy to let fly from range, he is extremely accurate with his long range shots and his free kicks are something else as we have already seen, he hasn’t scored in his last two games but he hasn’t been far away,
Hibs have been better in defence and we should see a back three of Ambrose, Hanlon and Porteous, Efe Ambrose has been outstanding lately, Ryan Porteous is still learning but he has grabbed his chance with both hands and like Ambrose he too has been outstanding, Paul Hanlon is just Paul Hanlon, he rarely makes a mistake and will run all day, In goal Adam Bogdan will be back and after a slow start to his Hibs career he is now showing just how good he really is.

So just who should be favourites to qualify?, should it be Molde with home advantage and who know a win puts them through or should it be Hibernian who will have the advantage of away goals if they score and knowing that a win or any score draw will see them go through,
Taking everything into account, the way Molde move the ball about, the home advantage and the plastic pitch to the firepower Hibs have, the quickness of how Hibs can turn defence into attack and the fact that Molde don’t have an away goal swings it into Hibs favour in my opinion

If Hibs decide to go with Kamberi & Boyle or Maclaren & Boyle upfront then that would mean David Gray playing on the right and he would definitely be worth a be at 50/1 to score first & 20/1 to score anytime

    • sasaharv62 6 years ago

As much as I like your tipping Macca, your calling this wrong pal..Scottish fitba’ is in meltdown ( according to most nations lol )..Molde are playing well,Hibs have leaked goals from very mediocre teams in Europe..i stand by my 4-0..Come say Hello,at full time :) :)

    • maccathered 6 years ago

Hibs didn’t leak any in the first leg, both these teams are desperate to progress and none of these two teams will take many risks, hence under 2.5 looks the shout,It’s a european tie and if you want goals look elswhere.

    • ausie11 6 years ago

Out of interest John, who do you believe to be your best starting XI?

    • christoff1977 6 years ago

I’m with Maccathered on this one – Molde won’t want to risk conceding early to give them a mountain to climb, Hibs (in my opinion) are not that good going forward, Molde cancelled them out once and can do so again.

    • alex_mufc83 6 years ago

      narrow Molde victory for me.

Wow. That’s about 15 losing tips on Hibs matches alone in a week. For anyone else I’d feel sorry but for MR JB, embarrassing. Have said for weeks his tips on hibs are Just drivel that probably he doesn’t believe , the skill of Ronaldo and confidence of Ibra was it ? 15 losers including a 4/6 shot (banker , watch , collect and all of that silliness) with the usual £ signs and mince that goes with it. Went from one of the most respected tipsters on the site to a bit of an attention seeker. Take no joy in it as I thought he was brilliant a couple of years ago (and before that) and seemed a cracking humble guy, for me now one who talks mince , will even tell you he is still up on hibs matches this season probably. I watched the whole game and bar hitting a post hibs are nowhere near the level JB says they are (but any sane person knows that) , not sure if it’s hope, arrogance or taking the piss ! I can’t get my head around how a seemingly humble man who tipped brilliant horses is now a joker who doesn’t tip horses but writes pages of stuff on Hibs being this Barca type side crushing all before them.

    Focussing on CL qualifiers tonight. These are my picks. Keeping stakes low as you know how these CL qual. games can turn out, but I have confidence in my picks;

    –Early Kick Off Single– 5PM
    HJK Helsinki v Olimpija Ljubljana
    Over 2.5 mgls
    43/40
    **NAP**

Olimpija go into this game on the back of an impressive 3-0 home win in the first leg. HJK must go for it to get anything out of this tie, whislt Olimpija may well set up their stall to defend, I think HJK will really go for it early doors in the first half and pepper their goal whilst can see Olimpija grabbing a goal themselves.

    –BTTS Double–
    Molde v Hibs
    Maribor v Rangers
    2.36/1
    *NB*

    –WDW Treble–
    Besiktas
    RB Leipzig
    Rosenborg
    2.34/1

-Expecting narrow victories from these 3.

    –Overs Treble–
    Zenit v Dinamo Minsk
    Maribor v Rangers
    Rapid Vienna v Slovan Bratislava
    Over 2.5 mgls
    4.29/1

All 3 home sides trail and must take risks to score, therefore expecting goals to come from either end.

    Good luck all.

    Afternoon gents

There are so many betting opportunities in tonight’s 2nd Leg Europa League qualifiers could easily put up a dozen bets

Have a had a good look through and from a goals perspective, 2nd legs tend to be open affairs

Zenit St Petersburg v Dinamo Minsk K0 6PM

Probably one of the shocks of the first legs (there was a lot of them) was Dinamo Minsk’s 4-0 hammering of Zenit. I don’t think anyone saw that coming and as it stands the Belarusian side have one foot and an arm in the next round where they could meet Molde or Hibernian. The Russians have it all to do and ill need to attack from the off to salvage this tie but have to mindful that this Dinamo team have already put 4 passed them and conceding a goal ends the dream of turning this around. Should see plenty of goals and wouldn’t be surprised to see both sides score

    Feyenroord v AS Trencin

Another shock result last week and identical to the zenith game, the much faneid

As you know, I’m big fan of the Skybet goal specials and its been some week with 40/1 & 55/1 first half goals landing which has basically paid for the rest of season on these markets and we are only 2 weeks in :)

Specials tonight in the Europa league

    6pm games (8)

The 8 matches contain some crackers for goals, including Zenit . Hapeol Beer Sheva and Torpedo to name a few

Goal in the first half 12/1
    25+ goals 6/4

    7pm – 8.30PM games (18)

18 matches so getting massive prices and definitely worth some small stakes – With so many matches you are guaranteed to get some high scores 5+ goals and these will compensate for the games that are light on goals

Goal in the first half 350/1
    51+ goals 6/5

Good luck with your bets tonight – goals are where the heart is :)

Hibs will score at molde as john b predicts, but their defence is as bad as Liverpool pre van djik so will concede.
I see a 1-1 with hibs going through, if any team wins on the night it’s molde.

Hibs are generally an over team and have to score to go through – unless it’s 0-0.
Molde are also capable and there should have been plenty of goals first leg.

Expecting a decent night for the Scottish sides and while I am concerned about Hibs missing McGinn, I do expect Lennon’s men to score on the night @4/7.

Rangers will also expect to qualify and given their form, I fancy at least a goal for the away side so I am taking BTTS @5/6 with Maribor pretty strong at home.

I’m trying those two selections as double as well as BTTS at rapid vs Steaua

    1 Point Dbl

    Hibs to score @4/7
    Maribor vs Rangers BTTS @5/6

  24. bobreaksbookies 6 years ago

Do Hibs fans expect to qualify? 5/4 on Hibs not to lose looks good to me but like I said, a bit worried about McGinn leaving.

Would absolutely love to see Rangers, Hibs and Celtic all in the group stage and given the way the draw has fallen, it seems to have every chance.

    Mon the Scots!

    • Johnb 6 years ago

Heart says 3-1 Hibs but head says 2-2

    • alex_mufc83 6 years ago

I’ve called it 2-1 Molde. They’ve taken the lead. GL to your lads, genuinely want all UK teams to progress

  28. fraser51 6 years ago

Tough game for Rangers tonight but one we should be able to take care of with a two goal advantage. Jack and Coulibaly fit is a massive boost.
Bit concerned with Halliday at left.

Maribor will come out flying so whether the storm and get a goal to kill the game.
I think we will concede but will go through.

The same rab i had on and won in super cup last night looks good again tonight

O1.5 goals, 1+ card each, 5+ maribor corners and 3+ Rangers corners 2/1

The nap and first goalscorer recommended bets in my match preview for the Hibs game both lands. A Hibs goal away from the full house. Pleased with that.

  49. Johnb 6 years ago

One of the worst performances I have witnessed that, only decent player tonight was Mallan who again showed he is class and was a little unlucky not to score in the first half after another great save from the keeper, second half highlights was hitting the post from a Maclaren header and Molde clearing a shot off the line, scoreline flattered them as they weren’t really that good, Hibs were just poor and deserved nothing

The good news for us and bad news for the other teams is we can now concentrate on winning the league ??????GGTTH? ITS COMING HOME

    • sasaharv62 6 years ago

    Evening all

Mitre 10 Cup started this morning with a close game between two local rivals so didn’t have a bet.

Tomorrow morning sees a re-run of last years final un what should be another close game between Tasman and Canterbury.

Fancy Tasman to do the business at home with Canterbury having so many Super Rugby players. Tasman have their fair share but will be fresher from the bench.

    NAP lands, other 3 lower stake picks off the mark but the important one in the bag;

Finished 1-4 FT to Olimpija, as suspected HJK went for it first half but all 8 shots were off target, Olimpija battered them in the end. ??
