I WAS worried Saturday would be a tough as opening weekends usually as but the results were fairly kind.

My 21-10 Super Single landed thanks to Ayr beating Partick Thistle and the 2-1 Top Treble also came in with Celtic -1, Airdrie +1 and Dumbarton +1.

That's the two main bets taken care of but West Brom and Fleetwood beat the moneyback fivefold and St Johnstone not scoring downed the both to score treble.

I didn't post all my tips because my long shots don't usually carry points but I wish I had with four aways in the Daily Record winning at 38-1 thanks to Hearts, Airdrie, Dumbarton and Arbroath. Many of you will have seen them anyway.

Greg, Desmond and HullShaker all posted winners but no one could get close to Alan Thomson who landed a 2520-1 treble at Goodwood. That's great tipping from someone who puts up consistent winners.

Well done to everyone who profited on a decent opening day and let's hope for more of the same on Sunday.

Games include Aberdeen v Rangers and Hibs v Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership, Leeds v Stoke in the English Championship and of course Chelsea v Man City in the Community Shield.

I've read Greg's post and agree there will be goals at Hibs. Their last five games have totalled 34 and at home they've netted 14 in three.

I don't know how much Thursday's Europa League will have taken out of them but Neil Lennon will freshen up the team and both sides can score.

There have been 30 goals in the last nine meetings between the sides and in Curtis Main Motherwell have a guy who knows the way to the target.

Aberdeen v Rangers has the potential to be a cracker and I'm looking forward to seeing how Steven Gerrard sets his side up against a team who pushed Burnley all the way in the Europa League.

A 120-minute shift at Turf Moor will have taken a lot out of the Dons but Rangers also played on Thursday and have another Thursday tie to prepare.

Taking all four teams to score in a both to score double and there is a chance of a red card at Pittodrie but bookies know it and Unibet offer just 23-10.

2pts Both to Score Double

  • Aberdeen v Rangers (1pm)
  • Hibs v Motherwell (3pm)

    Evening gents

Plenty of winners on the site on Saturday despite it being the first round of fixtures of the new season which is great to see ⚽️✅

Both My Scottish tips came in yesterday and i’ll likely be focusing purely on the Scottish games on a Saturday or at least until I have a better idea of where the goals are in England.

    Another two games from
Scotland tomorrow ??????? with a cracker from Pittodrie as Aberdeen host Rangers – it’s too tough call, instead i’ll be turning my attention to the match at Easter Road

    Hibernian v Motherwell KO 3pm

Was delighted to see Hibs get through to the next round of the Europa League qualifiers on Thursday but be interesting to see how they fair in their league opener.

I’m Not saying Hibs will have a Europa League hangover but it’s never easy even for the top clubs playing on a Thursday away from home then playing on the Sunday. Thankfully I won’t be caring who wins this game as long as theirs goals and as we know there’s been no shortage of goals at Easter Road recently. Kamberi will again be a favourite to find the net and Hibs should do so at least once.

Motherwell certainly won’t be coming here to make Up the numbers and with Curtis Main in their ranks alongside Connor Sammon who is a nuisance , i fancy the Steelman to find the net against a far from convincing Hibs backline. Both sides to score for me leading us to goals. Game shouldnt be odds against for goals

Back over 2.5 match goals 42/41 (188Bet) (NAP)

    ************************

Hibs were a real money maker in the corners market last season, they’ve racked up 18 corners in their two home Games so far and their attacking approach should see some more again tomorrow, Motherwell to also chip in with a few

Great stuff Mr F – only glanced in and out of main thread yesterday and a cracker for you…saw you had the Record aways but not the others…belting stuff ????

As for Alan Thompson’s treble, that puts us all in the shade…unreal and not for the first time – like Ace Venturer on the golf, the cummalative prices of their winners are second to none.

The Night Owl sees me focusing on one game in Chile with an added low stakes treble – only an outside chance with the latter pick and that’s reflected in the price:

UNIVERSIDAD CATÓLICA VS. EVERTON (2230 KO):

Catolica are going good guns but despite their form over the campaign, it’s a fact that their most recent matches (particularly at home which was their strength) have flatlined with 6 of the last 8 being draws.

I sense Everton might be able to capitalise here even if it is just to find the back of the net; they may not be in great form themselves but the fixture and Santiago itself has been a rich, recent stomping ground with a goal in each of their last 3 away visits and 4 of the last 5 H2H’s:

The Community Shield is exactly what it is, a pre-season non-event cup game but, there’s no doubting the teams playing out the 90 minutes will be taking this seriously.

Tin-pot or not, there’s pre-season bragging rights up for grabs and for that reason, it’s worth a punt.

Chelsea have the hoodo held over them in this game having lost their last 4 Community Shield matches and I can’t help but think prices may be a touch on the generous side for a City win.

WDW has no appeal to me though and instead, I reckon the smart money will be on City goals; looks like there will be plenty of chance for new faces to shine but I just cannot see Chelsea being a match for De Bruyne et al’s quality.

Around 65% of the last 9 CS games have seen 3 or more goals and it’s hard to see City not contributing towards that figure here:

    CITY OVER 1.5 TGS…5/6

    Best of luck ?

    • tennisace 6 years ago

Agree with you Hull, but I think De Bruyne and Sterling are out due to WC. Same with the likes of Hazard!

City to win for me regardless. But be interesting to see an attacking Chelsea team under Sarri and Hudson Odoi looks a gem at 17.

    • HullShaker 6 years ago

Yup, KDB out but counterbalanced with the absent Hazard and Courouis – strong attacking line-up expected from City in Aguero, Bernardo and Sane…Sane could be a great shout for ATGS at 2/1.

Pending the Athletics result and thanks to a 5/1 treble, and some luck/grit from De Minaur we are up 30 units today. Tomorrow will be a much calmer day with less units than the previous two.

Few things, I do not personally care too much about losing bets, I care about losing money for those who have followed and giving me great support both on here and on Twitter.

Will do a post about cashing out tomorrow because boy, would we be doing a lot better if we all had the past two days. But I know many of you are asleep.

De Minaur will be In contention talk for Grand Slams in 2 or 3 years. and I will do a full unit update tomorrow but pending the last result I think we are up about 4 units this month.

Time to calm things down and thanks to everyone.

Just about to head up to Pittodrie so putting this up now. Nikola Katic has managed 2 goals in pre season and 1 on Thursday and has looked a threat from set pieces so the odds for him to score anytime today are appealing. We have also been working on set pieces and this resulted in us scoring from 3 in our last 3 games.

Morning all, I see a fair bit of value for goals in the following J-league game today kick off 11am.

    SANFRECCE HIROSHIMA VS. SHONAN BELLMARE

Hiroshima are top of the league and have been in the goals lately winning their last home game 4-1 to mid table opposition. Their last 2 games have totalled 10 goals the other game being a 4-1 loss to
    Urawa reds.

Bellmare have had a couple of descent away days winning til nil in back to back victories. They have in gact scored in their last seven away games and last 5 games home and away. So it is safe to say with form I expect both teams to contribute to the goals tally.
Hiroshima over 1,5 team goals @1.72 NAP (Achieved in 5/7 H2H’s)
    Over 2,5 match goals @1.85
Over 3,5 match goals @3.25 (small stakes).

Pittodrie should be a cracker today, always tastey these fixtures between two not so friendly rivals. Goals and cards predicted with 22 goals in 8 games since Rangers returned too top flight, 5 of those have seen BTTS. Cards generally go hand in hand when these two collide, in the 8 games Aberdeen have racked up 28Y & 3R while Rangers have a massed 27Y & 2R with the last meeting seeing Rangers win the card count 6-4 in a 1-1 draw.

Graeme Shinnie has been carded in 6 of the 8 games. Ryan Jack has played in 4 of the 8 games, 2 for either side and was booked 3 times and sent off in Aberdeen colours plus a red card in one of his two games in a Rangers jersey

UNIVERSIDAD CHILE VS. AUDAX ITALIANO (2230 KO):

Some South American fixtures are consistently sound year in year out but as familiarisation with each league sharpens over time, there are a handful of games that really stand out.

For me, this Chilean match-up is one of those games and has stood me well over the last 4 years – it’s easy to see why; in 8 of the last 9 games, there have been 3 or more goals with 6 of those 9 seeing 4 or more.

Don’t be duped by standings – on recent form, it’s well worth noting that it is actually Audax who have picked up the pace after the Primera break – they have won both ‘openers’ in emphatic style scoring 4 in each and this on the back of 6 straight Copa Chile victories!

The Chilean top-flight is my destination de rigeur for early goals and this fixture has, again, proved a rich stomping ground – here’s a list of 1st half scorelines/(MGS) from the most recent 7 H2H’s:

    1-1(5), 0-3 (3), 1-0 (1), 0-3 (3), 0-1 (3), 1-1 (4), 1-2 (4),

So, we can deduce that over the last 7 meetings, there have been 23 goals fetching an average of 3.3 per game – of those goals
15 of the 23 came in the first half fetching a FHGS average of 2.1 per game. We can also (mathematically) say that over 65% of total match goals came within the first 45 minutes!

    Three selections to consider:

    BTTS & OVER 2.5 MGS…EVENS
    (Bet365)
    ????

    OVER 3.5 MGS…13/8
    (Bet365)
    ??

    BTTS 1ST HALF…3/1
    (Bet365)
    ?

    Best of luck ?

Goals are skimpily priced in the Guangzhou derby (which WC has highlighted in particular). The value angle seems to be on the home side, who are priced up as big underdogs despite goals from both sides being expected. I’m on two efforts.

Not looked into the starting line-up with Leeds hosting Stoke, the game has all the makings of a belter as both sides will be fancying a top 6 finish from the off.
One thing worth considering might be a Leeds penalty courtesy of Patrick Bamford. I’ve been a fan of him since his 10 goals contribution to Derby helped us to Wembley in the playoffs, when we never played him in that final, we lost his services the next season to Middlesbrough who had him on a season long loan. They got to the playoff final in 2014/15 and got beaten by Norwich. But whilst he was at Derby, if a defender went within 6 inches of him and he had the ball at his feet, he go down like he’d been shot. He did it against Forest that led to the penalty that Bryson scored to give him a hattrick. I’ve seen him a few times, I don’t particularly like it when players do that, its nice when you’re on his side and it goes your way but if the decision goes against your team, it really riles you. I know VAR would stop it, but we may be a few years away from that in domestic footie. So why not capitalise whilst you can.

Betfair have an #odds on that @ 7/1 for Leeds to be awarded a penalty and to get over 4.5 corners.

Should be changes for Hibernian but just how many is anyone’s guess, players that looked to be struggling late on against Asteras were Flo Kamberi, Darren McGregor and Martin Boyle while Lewis Stevenson looked to have got a bad injury but it couldn’t have been as bad as it looked because he played on but just how he was the day after I don’t know, our squad was Looking bare but we are bringing players in now with the likes of Jamie Maclaren and Thomas Agyepong, if Agyepong has his work permit sorted then Motherwell are in serious trouble because one thing they don’t have is speed and this lad Agyepong is even quicker than Brandon Barker, with two good feet, excellent ball control, he loves to take players on and if playing today he will run rings round the Motherwell players, Flo Kamberi played midweek when not 100% and might be rested on the bench but at least we have the Return of the Mac in Jamie Maclaren and Oli Shaw also available, Martin Boyle is another who could be rested with David Gray playing in his role or they could just give them a half each, John McGinn in midfield will just run all day every day, this season he is looking exceptional, he has improved so much from last season, new signing Stevie Mallan has hit the ground running and has already scored four goals in europe, all four were from outside the box and two were free kicks, in goal Marciano is still injured but we also have the world class Adam Bogdan, our defence has been the problem due to players playing out of position because of injuries, it’s difficult to know just how we will line up, if Kamberi plays with Maclaren then we will have a back four or if just the one striker it would be a back three, either way I think we might see Ryan Porteous play in defence and he is a talent, Paul Hamlon should also be at the back today as he is another like McGinn who just keeps going and wants to play every minute, so Ambrose or McGregor could be left out but just depends on how the players are feeling

Motherwell I don’t know a lot about them except they are a big physical team that will try to stop us playing “in other words one of the dirtiest teams in the league along with hearts” and have quite a few new signings,

Hibernian are by far the better team here, it just depends on how they are after Europe on Thursday night, don’t like looking at stats for previous seasons, why would anyone consider stats from last season when teams can be changed and nothing like they were then

Unless Celtic stump up the cash then he’ll be there until January at least. His minds made up on moving along the M8 whether it be this summer, January or next summer for free. We are in no hurry too sign a midfielder so another year in the capital won’t do either party any harm. Just my opinion

What I wrote about the Aberdeen-Rangers game: “There is a chance of a red card at Pittodrie but bookies know it and Unibet offer just 23-10.”
Doesn’t help my chances of btts as Rangers will now defend for their lives.

    • mr h 6 years ago

This game is every bit as explosive as the Old Firm. It’s been a string hatred since ‘That tackle’ there’s your Rangers goals ?

Hi gents. Two from two in the US and I’m on one of the same markets from then. St Gallen host Thun in Switzerland early in the new season but I’m going off form from last year. Thun are decent on the road and have scored in 13 of 15 on the road. Their loss on the road this season was a 2-1 defeat, with St Gallens home game seeing a 4-2 defeat. Both of their games have seen this market land and I fancy it again today.

    @mrfixitstips

What were your ante post tips for this season in the Scottish Leagues? Missed them and can’t seem to find them after a good look through. Many thanks and best of luck ??

    • Johnb 6 years ago

      @shauncpfc posted this yesterday

I have been looking for the best bets for the 2018-19 football season north and south of the border

Starting south of the border and League 2 i have to pick MANSFIELD,
I never pay much attention to pre-season friendlies but Mansfield have looked good, a 1-0 loss to Vitoria Setubal was followed by 3-0 win at Bradford PA, 3-1 win against Derby County, 0-0 draw against Sheffield Utd, 2-1 win against Sheffield Wed and 2-1 win against Rotherham Utd
Mansfield Town were one of the favourites last season and finished seventh, they lost their manager and after a difficult start for the new manager David Flitcroft Mansfield finished the season strongly,
Against Rotherham I was really impressed with the defending of Mansfield, the back three and goalkeeper “a certain Conrad Logan” were outstanding and going forward Mansfield will be looking at Danny Rose to bag a few goals

In League One I am going for my home town Barnsley, with Sunderland and Charlton also there it won’t be easy but I think Barnsley will get promoted, they have been pretty quiet in the transfer market and I think they will be disappointed not to have persuaded Stevie Mallan to stay on, I am hoping Tom Bradshaw stays at the club for this season as he will score goals, during pre-season Barnsley have been quick out the blocks at the start and against Hull they scored after just two minutes and it was new signing Kenny Dougall that scored a 20 yarder, Dougall signed from Dutch side Sparta Rotterdam and is a defensive midfielder but can also play as a central defender but it’s keeping players that is vital to Barnsley with multiple bids coming in for forwards Kieffer Moore and Tom Bradshaw and midfielder Brad Potts

Heading north of the border my Scottish bets,
In the Championship I like an outsider to do well, I really like Ayr Utd, my only worry is they have a small squad so injuries could be their downfall but if they can keep the injuries down they look a serious threat and they also have a player I have been raving about for a while in Lawrence Shankland and it’s vital that Ayr keep him

      League 2
Mansfield Town to get promoted 9/4 various

      League One
Barnsley to get promoted 11/4 various

      Scottish Championship
Ayr Utd 50/1 boylesports (1/5 odds 3 places)

    Belgian Pro League

    Moeskroen v Brugge

This game is already mentioned on here a couple of times. Should be a comfortable Brugge win. Moeskroen miss both central defenders who got a red in the first game of the season. Brugge should be able to score 2 or 3 tonight and I like the asian team goals for this one.

St Johnstone vs Hibernian (Sunday 12th August 3pm)

The bad news for St Johnstone is that we could have new players in for next Sunday, Thomas Agyepong should finally have his work permit and as I said earlier in the Hibernian vs Motherwell write up he is seriously fast, Brandon Barker could also be back, also have a young striker from an EPL team we are looking at who oozes class along with some others, all this and I haven’t even mentioned the players we already have,
A piece of advice to St Johnstone is don’t foul our players just outside the box because will just score from the free kick, hopefully McGinn will still be here but although he is our best player we will manage without him when he does go, Hibs attack at pace with players who are very comfortable on the ball, with players who can spot and convert the long pass, with players who can shoot from range and also with good goalkeepers,
We will have played another Europa League game on Thursday but as we saw today there was no euro hangover

I don’t know much about St Johnstone but I know enough about Hibs to know 7/5 about them scoring two or more is massive

    ⚽️?⚽️?⚽️?⚽️?⚽️?Hibernian over 1.5 goals 7/5 betvictor NAP/NB (double stake)

Hibernian over 2.5 goals 5/1 betvictor
    ⚽️?⚽️?⚽️?⚽️?⚽️?

    • Johnb 6 years ago

**because Mallan will just score from the free kick**

    • Johnb 6 years ago

Also should have said that Motherwell weren’t that bad today and should put Hamilton away next weekend, Hibs were just excellent, not one bad performance from any player, even the goalkeeper was there when needed, our defence were great especially Ryan Porteous, Marvin Bartley although he hasn’t been getting the games was outstanding. McGinn as good as ever, Mallan was great, Boyle who looked dead on his feet at the end of the Asteras game was outstanding and young Oli Shaw top class

It’s early doors but if you haven’t backed Hibs for the league yet then get on now, Hibs were 150/1 but now a best 80/1 but mostly 50/1

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

Well not good enough to land my double though – impressive from Hibs but zero chance of winning the league.
      Second place? Maybe.

    • derekj1978 6 years ago

You don’t know much about St Johnstone , you didn’t know much about Motherwell , but you’ll do what you did last season and throw shit at the wall and hope some of it sticks. Simon Murray to be top scorer, and a game at Dens in August springs to mind . Hibs to win the SPFL? Utter garbage. They won’t . Won’t even be top 3. Good to see you back after your huff though.

  63. wasclueless 6 years ago

More I have looked at the NYRB game (and having read the WLB review) – the more I fancy goals … as well as the BWP ATGS and BTTS & Overs quarter stake will risk
NYRB v LAFC BTTS & Over 3 Goals – Evens – half stake

  64. GregBrowning 6 years ago

John B – your right to highlight now, would expect those prices to shorten come next weekend

    We were terrible yesterday ?

    • Johnb 6 years ago

We can be a bit dodgy at the back with lapses in concentration and because we attack so much but we are dangerous going forward which is why the goals bets look good, good luck next week anyway, hope it’s a good game

  65. gamestat254 6 years ago

Sharp Report won the only MLB play Saturday White Sox 1-2 Tampa Bay Rays Under 7.

Sunday pro are eyeing two matchups coming up 23.00 East 20.00 GMT

San Francisco Giants at Arizona Diamondbacks

    Sharp angle: Over 8.5

Here’s a case where the public side is actually the same as the sharp side. 74% of bettors are on this over, accounting for 84 % of dollars wagered on the total. Sharpies have steamed this total twice and  the total has risen from 8 to 8.5 as a result.

Houston Astros at Los Angeles Dodgers

    Sharp angle: LAD

Sharp bettors are among that 39% however. The Dodgers have steamed at 5 bookies behind 45% of dollars.
