IT'S been a mental week in the world of football but if feels like it's a bit calmer today.
Play-offs take up most of my attention and my top tips stretch over Saturday and Sunday.
I've posted separate Scottish and English previews and have some thoughts here on my European picks. VIP tips for members only will be up first thing in the morning.
With three games remaining in Italy four sides are chasing the final two Champions League places. Inter and Atalanta occupy them at the moment with Milan and Roma having to do the catching up.
After the midweek magic in the semi-finals you can see why Atalanta are desperate to qualify for the first time.
The side from Bergamo have won four in a row and today face a Genoa side without a win in seven on the road. Back the home at 1-2 with Ladbrokes.
For goals the league to look at is the Bundesliga. There's the possiblity of both scoring in all of today's eight matches and that pays 22-1 at bet365.
My best three picks are the matches at Dortmund v Fortuna Dusseldorf, Hoffenheim v Werder Bremen and RB Leipzig v Bayern Munich and that pays 11-5 at bet365.
My only bet on Friday was Aberdeen to win to nil and while the Dons got the points, Hearts scrambled a deflected goal to beat the bet.

Massive playoff games for all the fans concerned with their respective clubs. Aston Villa look a shoe-in to inflict first blood to WBA. Villa have the best form in the league going into the playoffs, their ” blip ” against Norwich on the final day of the season was just that, a blip. However, I’ve seen Derby demolish WBA at their ground, I’ve seen us also concede against WBA and then score 2 late goals to cover the -1. WBA were far removed from the lofty heights that they achieved, I thought they were dreadful. Villa on the other hand have had a season end not unlike last years Fulham. Their early form hit their ability to catch up to the likes of Norwich/Sheff Utd and Leeds and I’ve seen them play Derby twice, the first encounter was not far from a bloodbath, the reverse fixture wasn’t as glum from a Derby fans perspective but they did grab all the spoils again. I cannot see past a Villa win, and even though this is the playoffs ( anything can happen ), its a local derby ( anything can happen ), but if I’m honest, Villa have more than enough to take at least a 2 goal cushion to WBA on the 15th.
Derby v Leeds. Leeds played us really early in the season at our ground and obliterated us. Almost on par with the ” soon to come ” Villa thumping that we were going to receive. Again, we then visited Leeds at their ground, and again they beat us, but Derby were not that much of a pushover. We didn’t impose our game on them enough but a loss to Leeds is almost as painful as any loss to Forest ( speaking as a Derby fan ). Leeds form has fell away at the wrong end of the season and that levels things up big time. Derby have hit a solid bit of form only registering 1 loss going back 13 or 14 games back – 2 nil at Blackburn I believe. – both were late goals. That match was in the middle of Mason Mount and a few other noted absences, so Derby’s form was a bit all over the place. Momentum is everything going into the semi’s and it is all with Derby. It is likely that Waghorn will be absent through an achilles injury, Holmes is racing to get fit but I think he’ll miss the boat. But Derby have enough cover. I’m just surprises Jack Marriott is down the pecking order behind Bennett and Nugent. Lampard’s blue eyed boy is Bennett. Bennett took a long standing record away from Derby club legend Steve Powell to become the youngest player ever to wear a Derby shirt. That was years ago. But he’s doing enough to stay with the club that nurtured his talent.
Derby MUST win this game, no ifs, no buts. This will likely be a fiery affair – it always is against Leeds, so cards are gonna fly. Former Derby loanee Patrick Bamford is banned for simulation, but Leeds have nearly a full squad to play with.
I’m thinking Derby will edge this one but I’m inclined to think Derby really need to go to Elland rd with a +2 goal advantage. So consider a price boost for Derby to cover the -1 h/c.
The cards line is drawn at overs/unders 4.5, I can see cards, I can see corners, goals and hopefully a Derby victory.
I have plumped for a Derby win and btts Yes/over 12 match corners and overs 4.5 cards. Bet 365 gave me a price north of 40/1. So check that out.
I’m inclined to think a Derby win – bare minimum to take to Elland Rd, because they’ll be all over us like a rash at their ground. If we get our noses in front, the bigger that gap, the more chance we have before a ball is kicked on the 15th. I’m knocking on a bit, sadly the match falls a day short of my birthday. If my bet lands on Saturday, I will attempt another similar bet on the 15th. Let’s see just how good our momentum is. FYI: we’re not the pushover that we were in the first half of the season, we’re much more balanced.

Final thought of the day, I’ve just checked Leeds website for Derby team news and tactics but there isn’t much there. I’m guessing the CAA has grounded their drones and their men in raincoats holding notebooks and binoculars have been recalled back to the Fredrick Forsyth books…

I agree with the Bundesliga and goals, another bet I’ve been following closely is the early corners in that league, was the corner before 9 minutes market and a few times the Saturday games all came in, they have dropped the market lately to corner before 8 minutes and some even before 7 minutes, I’ve won a few notes over the season on this market but go the safer option of corner before 10 minutes, less odds but 2 minutes in football is a lot for a corner believe it or not as I’ve been greedy and gone for the better odds for the minute markets bet365 put the minutes on mainly the first half the season when most were the before 8 or 9 mins and I been caught many times with it coming in the next couple of mins!!
Anyway all games today corner before 10 mins in the bundesliga pays 35.5/1 adding the Frankfurt game tomorrow pays 56/1.
I think it’s worth keeping another eye on these next season as most Saturdays it’s 6/8 or 7/8 and like I said a few times 8/8. Good luck today guys

Those prices are extremely short – when I quoted them they were all much bigger.

One catching my eye Leipzig 4/1 .to beat Bayern.
Also I done a season bet at the start of the season, it was an 6 fold, 4 of the 6 were in weeks ago but the last 2 are going to the wire, Bayern to win bundesliga which I’m hoping lands today, and West Ham to finish top half which I’m hoping Watford rest the whole squad for the final tomorrow!! Cash out is at £239 and the full pay out is £918. Is it worth my while covering the bet with double chance on Watford? Which is about £250 to get my stake back, I want to let it run but West Ham are so unpredictable and it being last game. What’s your thoughts guys please

If that’s your thoughts you can leave until teams are revealed. I’ve tipped Watford because I assume they will play a much weakened team but as you say the Hammers can’t be relied on. The title’s almost Bayern’s but today’s game will be tough although results wise it means nothing to Leipzig.
Personally I wouldn’t take £239 when a £918 winner is so close but it depends on how much you need the £239.

2 Derby goals and 4 corners short but the cards count sailed in. Derby have it all to do. Our game plan wasn’t good enough, Leeds pressed high and forced mistakes. Whenever we started an attack, there was 1 Derby player up front being outnumbered and nullified. The penalty looked a given, until I saw the replay, but it leaves a bitter taste in your mouth when Leeds players swarm and bitch at the linesman to force the ref into a conversation. Dirty Leeds.
On another day, Klick could of been sent off, he was lucky to get a yellow. I guess the yellow was for intent rather than making a connection, but Derby have to up their game all over the pitch if they’re to turn this around.
There is a small silver lining. late last night, I dropped a £10 on the same bet in the Villa game: Villa win and btts, over 12 corners, over 4.5 cards. It came in for I think 24/1.
The commentator hit the nail on the head for me, he said ” It’s as though Derby celebrated their sole achievement of making the playoffs after the win against WBA “. It feels like Derby don’t have a plan in place on how they’re going to approach these 2 legs against Leeds because they’ve already reached their goal – which is the playoffs. Far too negative for me.
Expect more cards at Elland Rd on the 15th, but I fear Derby will get nothing from that game. Judging by Leeds direct play, high pressing etc, a corners handicap on Leeds could also be the way forwards ( with the overs cards bet ).
At the moment its looking like a Villa/Leeds final. But its been a great few weeks for comebacks in English football. I won’t be holding my breath with Derby. We needed a couple of goals to take to Elland Rd, we never got them.
I hope somebody on the site managed to eek out a few quid today.
