HOPEFULLY in for an exciting and profitable day with the action kicking off at 12.30pm as Liverpool travel to Leicester and later we have Man City v Newcastle.

I'll watch the first half before heading to see an even more appetising game in Clydebank v Kilbirnie at marvellous Maryhill.

My Scottish and English previews have been posted where most of my selections are reasoned and there is a separate Celtic v Rangers match preview with Celtic selling star striker to Lyon for £20m just before the transfer window closed.

Check out all the other previews and post by the regulars and good luck with all of your Saturday selections – and if you're a member check out the VIP tips that long shots such as four aways and four draws. Four aways came up twice last month.

Well done to all the winners last night including Greg, HullShaker and Jordan. Results weren't great in the main games and Dortmund's failure to score beat my Super Single double. My 1pt long shot to clear the advised acca wasn't too far away but was never going to win with the lack of action in the Bundesliga.

Remember to check out all the match previews from contributors and other features such as Scott's Euro tips.

Off to see Clydebank v Kilbirnie. It’s less marvellous Maryhill and more monsoon Maryhill.
Kilbirnie’s No.2 works at the Record so this is a must not lose game for me.
Good luck to everyone with all of their bets today.

    Morning gents

Attractive looking card tomorrow and although I can’t top Mr F’s trip to Maryhill, i’ll be Hamilton bound to watch the famous Perth St Johnstone and hopefully some more Tony Watt goals

QoS v Ayr United KO 3pm

This match will see the leagues two most prolific strikers lock horns as Queens Stephen Dobbie welcomes Ayr goal king Lawerence Shankland. Both have been in sensational form this season, 12 goals a piece already and both have two hatricks each. I watched QoS a few weeks ago and I was really impressed with them, they pass it about well and have in my opinion the best striker partnership in the league in Dobbie and oz born Lyndon Dykes.

It’s been a fairytale start for Ayr having won the 1st Divison last season, they have come up and not only competed but sit top
of the league and in the quarter finals of the league cup – much of that is down to Shankland who like Dobbie, can’t stop scoring. This should be a cracking game with both sides contributing

Back over 2.5 match goals 5/6 (MarathonBet) (NAP)

    ***************************

    Livingston v Hibernian KO 3pm

    Neil Lennons Hibs were well
worthy of their late equaliser against Aberdeen last week and they make the short trip to West Lothian to Livingston and their F grade plastic pitch. We all know how good Hib are going forward and although Livingston will make this tough and scrap for every ball, Hibs quality should shine through in the end

Back Hibs to win 5/6 (Skybet)

    • nathanufton 6 years ago

@shortee We rode our luck in the 2nd half. Should of had another penalty before Nugent was brought down for the penalty. Hull grew into the game and showed their teeth for 5 mins after the Derby opener. Derby made a slow start to the 2nd half and got caught napping for the equaliser. Hull played better than us in the 2nd half and could easily of grabbed a couple more goals. But we got over the line in the end from an 88th minute winner from Jozefzoon. Happy to help fill your pocket.

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

Good shouts with Derby. Took them as my Super Single in the Record but equally fancied Peterborough at the price.

  6. HullShaker 6 years ago

    Morning gents,

Saturday brings a decent card as ever and there’s a good few games that catch the eye – I’ll maybe put up a goals acca later but there’s one game that stands out for me…

    DARLINGTON VS. ALFRETON TOWN:

As Alfreton travel up The Great North Road, I’d bet my bottom dollar that the collective minds of their players won’t be eyeing up a 0-0 bore draw and I’m pretty sure the Darlo massive awating their arrival won’t be setting up for that outcome either.

The Derbyshire side have started much the better team but there’s a central thread running through both team’s games that draws me in here…goals.

Not just any goals but National League North goals – a bit like that old Marks and Sparks advert, maybe it’s just me but there’s something about the NLN that get’s the primordial goal bettor instincts going and this one ticks all the boxes; Darlo’s games this season have seen 4-3-7-2-6-4-3 match goals whilst Alfreton have seen a mere 4-1-4-1-3-4-6!

    H2H-wise, it’s the same: 1-1, 4-1,
0-3 and 3-4 scorelines within a 24 month spell reflect perfectly my interest in this game above all others.

    Two selections:

    BTTS & OVER 2.5 MGS…4/5
    (Bet365)
    ????

    BTTS 1ST HALF…11/4
    (Bet365)
    ?

    Best of luck ?

Really can’t trust the Spanish, French and German top flights at the moment. Thank heavens for English non league, Scottish and French Ligue 2. Might have a dabble in Japan before the Liverpool game..hate betting on my own team though. ..it’s bad karma. Thanks Greg for that winner last night.

  8. leroy 6 years ago

The alarm bells are ringing: a Saturday card with plenty of games and picks tickling my fancy. Problem is I’ve had trouble picking out a main bet. Instead, I’m going for a range of picks at half stakes. It’s never advised on a big card, but fingers crossed the scattergun effort pays off.

Encouraged to see DC fancying the same two non-league ties. My home town team (Taunton) are flying at the moment. I went to school with, and played in Central Midfield growing up with one of Taunton’s standout players and they’re definitely outperforming expectations so far. Should be a good game tomorrow and I’m gonna try and get myself down there.

If there’s one big weakness with Saints this season it’s lack of pace at the back. Vestergaard and Hoedt will get exposed with fast forwards

Therefore think Palace will score a couple today but we will score therefore recommended bet is

Barnet head to Dover in the VNL with the hosts looking bleak early on. They’ve one win from their 7 played this season, and they still conceded 3 goals in that win.
Barnet have been a mixed bag but have started to roll with two wins on the bounce. Chesterfield and Rag & Red were the opponents, so they weren’t inspiring, but a win is a win. Goal time today looks reasonable. Dover don’t look to be a side that are defending too well and Barnet should get chances.

10hrs of panic over. Couldn’t log into site. All sorted via twitter, so thanks admin, been awake since 7:30pm so I’m kinda breathing on vapour, but I have coffee and Red Bull.

So, onto the small matter of part 2 of my midweek bet. Hull v Derby.
Before a ball was kicked on Tuesday, I drew my line in the sand and said we’d do the double on them. Both games league cup and league at their ground separated by 4 days. We made 7 changes but put out a very strong line-up Tuesday night. Only Keogh/Tomori in central defence, Johnson as holding midfielder and Mount in the middle of a trio of attacking midfielders were kept in the side that beat Preston 2 nil just 3 days earlier.
It was a formation change too, we dropped the 4-3-3 and switched to a 4-2-3-1. The changes were seen right from the start to the finish. We made a rare 1st half performance where we grabbed 2x 1st half goals and for the first time this season, our first half performance was quality. The gaffer rewarded the players at ht by not sending them out onto the pitch 5 minutes early – the first time that’s happened since Lampard arrived.
2x second half goals rounded off a team performance without reply for a comfortable 4 nil win. To be fair to Hull, they did have one decent shot on target, but it never really troubled our keeper. Derby also had the ball in the net before the 3rd went in but was deemed offside. The 4th disallowed goal in 5 straight games.
Hull have not scored at their ground against us in the past 4 attempts. Last year they held us to a 0-0 but we’ve won to nil and covered a -1 handicap on the 3x victories. 0-4, 0-0, 0-2, 0-2. The 3rd scoreline was the championship playoff 2nd leg where Derby trailed 3 nil in 2015/16 season. We’d beaten them 4 nil at home at 2 nil at their ground that season, but Hull progressed somehow to the playoff final where they were beaten at Wembley.
Last season, Derby won 5 nil at home and drew 0-0 at theirs.
Hull have lost 3 at home on the bounce in all competitions and have not won a match in the last 6. I think Nigel Adkins already has his P45 filled out, maybe along with Paul Clements at Swansea and more worryingly for Steve McClaren at QPR. How fitting. 2x former Rams managers sitting in the ejector seat. ( Not smug at all ).
I tipped Derby to win today @ 8/5 with bet365 on Tuesday teatime. That price I thought would freefall, it hasn’t. It dropped a little, but 188bet have them at 17/10 which is a damn juicy price.
I still have my £10 double to ride today, which given how our fringe players performed on Tuesday, should see another Derby victory.
Remember, in 4 attempts at Hull, Derby have won 3, drawn 1, scored 8, conceded 0. This game has Derby win to nil written all over it. Some teams really do know how to play against some teams. The gaffer has already said Tuesdays match was a much better performance but Saturdays match will be a different game. I’m still not convinced that Hull will score. I think a lot of that hinges on whether we stick with the 4-2-3-1 or twist with the old 4-3-3. This will be the 8th game of the campaign in all competitions and he’d already said it will take 10 games for us to gauge where the team is. I think he finally knows who 7 or 8 of his best 11 are and every one of his 9 signings have played some competitive football now. Some more than others.
My Hull/Derby match preview will be posted in or around an hours time.
FYI, I have just dropped onto an in shop/ladcrookes bet for the Derby win to nil @ 10/3, Lincoln win @ 31/20 and mrF’s super single Peterborough @ 27/20. £10 – the treble combines for a 24.9/1
Its up to you guys if you follow my treble, I added reason to the Lincoln selection a few days back in the Super single shortlist thread.
I’ll see you guys some time between the 12pm to 1pm time with my preview.

After sport boys did the job yesterday, I woke up energized and ready to kick the bookies today with a short trip to Iceland.
    Kick off 2:00 pm
Game between Magni Grenivik vs IA Akranes:
    Akranes sits 2nd in the table and that is due to their current form and goals per game averaging 2-3-2, while magni sits bottom in the table due to their current form but that aside they haven’t been shy of scoring goals themselves averaging 2-2-2 or more per game depending on the opponent, but Akranes is above them with their remarkable 5 – 0 thumping last time out and a better team, based on current form here;
    2 selection to go with:

    1. Btts and over 2.5 mgls ???
    2. Akranes ov2.5tgls ???

    B. Write my preview, spell check it without Grammarly, get my stats and info straight etc – so the admin spend less time vetting it and post sooner.

    C. I’ve found a couple of really juicy stand out bets in there for those that want to take the time to read it.

Apologies for the delay in posting, an unexpected visitor turned up and ate half an hour of my time + I waited for team news:

Hope it goes well for you guys. Good luck all.

My preview went in 45 mins ago but somehow its not been picked up by admin apologies. I should of posted it earlier.
Derby are pressing, we’ve had a strong penalty shout turned down and now Nugent gone down. Penalty. 4 nil to derby on corners count……

    GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL. Waghorn. 1 nil

    • Scott Allot 6 years ago

Nathan we need it posted much earlier than half an hour before kick-off. Ideally the night before the game. Cheers

Ok. I’ll get that sorted. Can we still get it posted up, it will give me a chance to tally up profit and loss. Today was a long long day for me. Been awake 22.5 hrs, visitors at wrong time. Not even looked at who we play and when.

    Sunderland WTF?!

  55. nathanufton 6 years ago

Derby have hit the bar after absorbing some retaliatory pressure. Derby are pressing for more goals. Corners count is flying up. It is 2-7 in the corners count.

  56. nathanufton 6 years ago

3-7 on corners in the Hull/Derby match. Hull have been better than they were midweek but Derby’s attacking threat has been an ever present in the first half. The ref made a few bad decisions, a Waghorn penalty shout was missed, then a deflected Derby shot was judged a goal kick. Then Derby struck with a penalty. Hull regrouped for about 5 mins and Derby’s central defenders made some good blocks – 3x I think. Then Derby had 3x really good chances to extend the lead in rapid succession. This has pushed up the corners count. If their keeper keeps tipping these over/around the woodwork, there will be more corners. If he doesn’t make the saves, there will be more goals. Common sense tells me there is more to come in both departments. Bet365 price for over 15 corners was 11/10 just before ht.
Derby of late have tended to come alive in the 2nd half. It could be a stamina thing. I guess we’ll find out how fit the Tigers are.
Derby 1 nil up, clean sheet still on the cards. If we win, it will be 4 wins on the bounce and 4 losses on the bounce for Hull. Waghorns 2nd goal in 2 games will give him some confidence which he’s been lacking. Not really sure who or if Derby should consider any changes, it is possible the wingers might see a cameo appearance. Apart from that, maybe an extra 1% of quality and Derby could well add.

    • nathanufton 6 years ago

Derby are living dangerously, we’ve had some good chances but the game is a bit too open ended for my liking. Corners count is currently at 4-9.

Nailbiting time for Derby, 17 corners. Peterborough drew 1-1, Lincoln stuffed Exeter 3 nil, a Derby clean sheet would of been nice but I’ll take the win. And the DOUBLE !!! Slam dunk. Well done anyone that took my Tuesday Double Ram raid. My bread and butter tip landed, not done the maths but I’m sure the double helped put my tips back in the black.
Now, I’m going for some sleep. We have 3 or so games to play before we figure out how to dump a lacklustre Man Utd out of the league cup.

There was something wrong in the Peterborough game and the bookies new it,how do you get a team with 5 wins in a row underdogs at home to Doncaster.Something wasn’t right with the odds from the off.

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

It’s easy to blame something being wrong when you have a loser. I don’t have any evidence of that but often prices are there too tempt us. If Peterborough had been 1-2 for example we wouldn’t have touched it.

    • maccathered 6 years ago

I didn’t back them Mr f,there was something wrong i know by the odds,i watched the first ten mins and seen how the odds drifted,2/1 the homeside were after about 5 mins, something wasn’t right on this game.I knew Peterborough were not going to win the game after 5 mins mate.

    Poor poor day!?

  67. leroy 6 years ago

Pure garbage with just the one winner. A goal short here and there seemed to be the story of the day for the most part. Although, looks like I picked the wrong Taunton game to watch this season. Plenty of efforts were cleared off the line – it wasn’t a bad game to be fair, but the goal just wouldn’t come.

Well done all winners. Not started the month how I’d have liked!

Was at Tynecastle today but had trouble getting onto Ladbrokes which scuppered my main bet of Hearts win & over >1.5 goals/Livi v Hibs BTTS & Motherwell double chance….!!! (Should’ve put it on earlier?) and already used my Betway monthly allowance, so with the £5 left in B365 account , used that for my boys usual correct score attempts at that match; youngest opted for 4-1 (20/1) ?

Can I ask you – how bad were St Mirren?

    • the stamp collector 6 years ago

Mr F; St Mirren actually didn’t look too bad in the opening 20 mins; we had issues down our right; St Mirrens left, where they had 2 decent openings with players in a lot of space coming into the box, that were warnings, prior to their equaliser.
Our movement up front , with Naysmith and Maclean using experience, was excellent and big Uche was a nuisance all day.
St Mirren could’ve and should’ve had a goal 2nd half (boy totally missed it in front of goal and smother by keeper) but we could’ve had more goals first and 2nd half – St Mirren lacked cutting edge and a n all action midfielder, and will likely be in a 3 way battle at the bottom with Hamilton and Dundee

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

Cheers, my St Mirren-supporting colleague wants Stubbs out now but they must have been better today than last week.

  82. Jordan 6 years ago

Barnet pulled din todays bet in four minutes and hoping lightning can strike twice tonight in Vancouver. The Whitecaps host the Earthquakes in the MLS in what looks like a goal fest on paper. The Caps have seen BTTS and over 2.5 in their last seven competitive fixtures including their Canadian championship games. The Earthquakes have seen BTTS in all of their last five matches with four going over 2.5. Four of the last five between the two sides h2h has seen BTTS, with four of the last five in Vancouver also landing both teams scoring.

While the goals are short I think San Jose should make a meal of this much earlier than their goal time gives them credit for. Vancouver have seen their opponents score twice in seven of their last eight home games. Understandably San Jose much worse on the road but they can score goals and this looks value.

    Night Owl:

    MILLONARIOS VS. RIONEGRO (0000 KO):

It’s a funny old league the Colombian Primera – not one that I rate too highly with the inconsistent goal tallies but it certainly has it’s moments!

Due to the hit and miss nature of form and scorelines, bookies invariably (and quite rightly) price them at very favourable prices – this one could fall flat on it’s arse or could end up a cracker…I’ve a sneaking suspicion there’s value to be had on certain markets.

In my humble opinion, it may pay to focus on early goals; the last H2H saw both scoring in the 1st half with Millonarios scoring before 45:00 in both of the most recent clashes.

Recent form is good for the hosts with a few COC and COS victories that set a positive tone and there’s two selections that I fancy with relatively low stakes – the latter may not trap but is a huge price in any game:

    MILLONARIOS GOAL BEFORE 46:00…5/6

    BTTS 1ST HALF…7/1
