Top Football Tips

FOR all of those who have missed their normal Saturday football fix welcome to the new season.

Saturday heralds the return of  full UK card barring the Premier League which is a week behind.

I've posted some early Scottish Premiership bets and here are my usual Saturday selections with long shots on the VIP tips for Members Only and Win & Both Teams to Score tips on Twitter @mrfixitstips.

As it's week one my advice would be to go easy until we see some form but hopefully I'll get off to  good start. August can be tricky but I made a good profit at the start of the season a year ago so here's to more of the same.

Check out today's other posts

For the Super Single I'm going with Bradford who are one of the favourites for the League Two title. They should go well under Gary Bowyer and strikers James Vaughan and Clayton Donaldson should score plenty at this level. They are 8-9 with Betway at home to Cambridge.

And as my early Top Treble is Celtic, Rangers and Hibs I'm taking more risk with Saturday's one that includes Aberdeen to beat Hearts at home on Sunday.

Most of my selections are reasoned on separate Scottish and English preview posts. Also check out the the match previews and tips from usual suspects including Desmond who makes his return.

Last night my only bet was an 11-5 Top Treble that won and well done to all the other winners and good luck on Saturday.

Remember to check out WeLoveBetting for their tips and video chat and all their previews of the season ahead.

Can’t wait for the new season to start and looking forward to seeing all the winners on the page. Mr Fixit well done to another successful year of having the page. I’m in Canada on holiday for 3 weeks and with the exchange rate at only 1.6 dollars to the pound I’m looking to add some more candy to my funds.

    Celtic vs St Johnstone

Celtic should win this game with ease. I can see a win to nil but as many of you know, Goalscorers are my favourite bets. I’m looking at two players, first of the is Ryan Christie, he’s a standout bet at 15/2 with Bet365 to score first. He’s on penalty duties too so back him each way. Another bet you can look at is with Bet365’s build a bet. Ryan Christie to score first and to score 2 or more. Basically you need him to score first then score at least another goal anytime during the game. Price for this is 50/1.

I always like a bit of value, it’s only a matter of time before Christopher Jullien scores for Celtic but unfortunately that won’t be tomorrow. He and Simunovic are both suspended for the game which leave the other defender Kristoffer Ajer to go up for the corners etc. The 6ft 6 centre back will be looking to add to his tally after scoring against kalju in Europe. He’s 33/1 for First Goalscorer with Betfred. To back him anytime he’s great value at 13/1 with Betfair and Paddy Power. Celtic could easily score 4 or more and will want to impress the fans at home and put down a marker for Rangers who will be playing Kilmarnock tomorrow. If Celtic score quite a few then I’m hoping Ajer will be on the score sheet.

    Good luck to everyone

    Recommended Bets

    Ryan Christie First Goalscorer E/W @ 15/2 (Bet365)

Ryan Christie First Goalscorer and to score 2 goals or more @ 50/1 (Bet365 bet builder)

Kristoffer Ajer First Goalscorer @ 33/1 (Betfred)

Kristoffer Ajer Anytime Goalscorer @ 13/1
    (Betfair and Paddy Power)

simple tip from me! based on the excellent looking squad GJ has assembled, and enhanced by FOUR loan signings yesterday, including connor lemenhaigh-evans and opi edwards back until january from bristol city, there surely is only going to be one result today at plainmoor??
torquay united win 7/8 and handicap 23/10 are both very tempting. if i could find a goalscorers bet i’d be on duku to score first and armani little to notch too in a 3-0 win!

New season is upon us. Been away for a few months but mostly been on anteposts lately anyways. As with last season, City will win it & Pool will come 2nd. Think the mighty Gunners will come in 3rd with Spuds snatching the last Champs League spot. With a young squad full of talent & Saliba joining next season, we’ll be challenging pretty soon but I’m under no illusions we aint near City just yet. Gotta love Sead Kolasinac’s reaction to those carjackers! Hard as nails & the toughest geezer in the Prem. Not the best defender but always a threat going forward & even if we sign Tierney, I reckon he’ll have a big season.

You can guarantee goals galore in any game featuring Arsenal. This has generally always been the case but even more so this year as we’ve completely given up on signing any defenders and have stacked up on our attack. Front 3 of Auba, Laca & Pepe-frightening! Arguably got the best attack in Europe and we’ll likely concede 2+ goals a game but are banking on scoring 4 or 5. Exciting season ahead & I actually reckon we’ll do alright. Top 4 should be good and I’m taking us at (2.50). We’ve made some really good signings with a clear view towards the future and we beat out all other top European clubs to the signature of Pepe. Great signing & will add plenty of assists and goals.

Other Antepost bets: Chelsea not to finish in the top 4: (1.72). Same with United (1.72). Everton to win without the top 6 (4.33). Sheff Utd not to be relegated (2.2). Treble: Kane, Auba and Pukki to top score for their clubs (2.65). Southampton top North West club (2.1). B. Silva more goals than Alli (1.9). Leeds to be promoted (2.62). Double: Leicester top half finish & Fulham top 6 finish (2.59) Mansfield to finish in the top 7 (evens). Sunderland to be promoted (2.37). Ajax to win outright (1.72)

Enjoy and here’s to a cracker of a season!

    • sean ireland 5 years ago

If Man U’s proposed signings come off this week Arsenal wont have a chance of top 4,for me it will be City,Liverpool,Spurs,United in that order.

    • maccathered 5 years ago

United won’t make top four, signing Harry Maguire won’t be that beneficial to United as he is not that good,United could of done with a world class defender,Harry i’m afraid isn’t world class, add to that the effect of the Europa League and it will be touch and go for top six for them imo.

    • maccathered 5 years ago

Also Arsenal have strengthened in the wrong areas, they need defenders and it looks like they will still ship goals in,for me Leicester City look good for a top four this season.

    • sean ireland 5 years ago

They are also in talks for Paulo Dybala or Mario Mandzukic’ plus Bruno Fernandes,if 2 of these come id say top for is as assured as City to win the league. What about these huge transefers you claimed were coming to Liverpool at end of last season, where are they macca?Money must have run out.

    • sean ireland 5 years ago

Leicester lol Thats a cracker Macca love the scouse sense of humour, must be the way you tell em.

    • sean ireland 5 years ago

      ***Top Four***

    • kyle b 5 years ago

You can’t still think Keicester have a chance of cracking top four Macca after loss of Maguire, I fully agree he isn’t world class and United have highly overpaid down to the fact he is English but was a major asset for the foxes and is irreplaceable for them. I think Spurs, Liverpool + City will be top3, whoever signs Fernandes will have one hell of a player. Big week in the transfer window coming up, if United get Fernandes + Dybala I think fourth is there’s. If they end up with Mandzukic who is way past his prime, Europa league at best again.

    • maccathered 5 years ago

Lots of if’s and buts,Dybala would be a swap deal so you would lose Lukaku, tough ask for United imo,Liverpool don’t need to strengthen as the team is complete,i am surprised we haven’t signed any big names but on the other hand we haven’t lost anyone so Klopp doesn’t believe Liverpool need to strengthen.Money is no Object for Liverpool as they are now one of the richest clubs in world football.

    • maccathered 5 years ago

I think Leicester top four looks a cracking bet at 16/1.

    • maccathered 5 years ago

@Kyle b,they have got 80 million, they can buy someone better for 80 million.

    • sean ireland 5 years ago

I agree Macca Liverpool dont need to strengthen for top 3 but they will come up short if they dont add quality to the squad, which happens every season to teams that dont freshen with summer business. Wouldn’t put 50p on a leicester @ 16/1 that looks weaker now after the loss of slabhead.

    • maccathered 5 years ago

They can soon replace Maguire with 80 million.United have bought him because Bailly is out long term.Panic buying. If Maguire were that good Liverpool or Citeh would have bought him.😂😂😂😂

    • kyle b 5 years ago

You’ve gotta think about the quality of player they will attract to the club, let’s be honest if say Leicester agreed a deal for Koulibaly (Napoli) who I think is on a par with VanDijk he ain’t coming to the Foxes coz he wouldn’t agree to it as would neither most sought after defenders out there. Seems Brighton are planning for life after Dunk with the signing of Webster, I think he is most likely replacement which is a downgrade. Maguire was a top asset for Leicester but probably just end up being another defender for United, he won’t transform there defence like VanDijk did with Liverpool’s. Can see Leicester finishing between 8-10th, Wolves and Everton done some shrewd business and I think both will finish above Leicester.

Well done with the NAP Mate! 👏

    • mr h 5 years ago

Just an observation Macca but when the great Brendini was in charge at Celtic you didn’t rate his ability but now he’s back in the EPL he’s going too lead Leicester too the top 4 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • mr h 5 years ago

On the subject of replacing Frankenstein at the back the big lad Benkovic looks a top prospect and strolled through games up here last season. He’s got the talent too fill the gap if Rodgers decides too play him.

    • oneoff 5 years ago

Think Leicester will finish above wolves they have only bought the players that were on loan already.
They have all them europa games to play aswell

    • kyle b 5 years ago

Fair point oneoff, can’t believe Milan have let Cutrone let go for peanuts to comply with FFP. I can see him turning into a major player. Sometimes it’s not about making huge amounts of signings but keeping a settled side together which they have done. See how seriously they take the comp once the season is underway, as I stated the other day to some clubs they use EL as an opportunity to play fringe players. Depends what they prioritise as a club.

    • deanbowness 5 years ago

By the way macca city wanted maguire and was willing to pay 70 mil for him and to say hes not that good is nuts he’s a quality centre half up there with van dijk in my opinion,

    • maccathered 5 years ago

I think it’s even more nuts comparing Maguire with Van Djik.Van Djik is the best centre back in the world.maguire doesn’t come near that bracket, just because Man Utd were and i will put this lightly were made to pay way over the odds for him because they could not force Leicester City to sell.Leicester and this makes me laugh held the mighty Man Utd to ransom over the price.😂😂😂😂😂

    • mr h 5 years ago

Couldn’t agree more with Macca, comparing Maguire with Van Dijk is like comparing fillet with rump 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • kyle b 5 years ago

What are my chances of getting my money back as a goodwill gesture ffs 🤯

    • cockerspaniel 5 years ago

If it is with sky kyle — you have a good chance mate . It happened twice to me last season .

    • kyle b 5 years ago

Not even gonna waste my time pal, if it was a high profile game I might stand a chance but with it being a low key game in China can’t see myself getting anywhere. Annoying but I’ll move onwards and upwards from it.

7 Yellow cards but no red downs my red cards in the PSG V Rennes game . LOSER
Got my early booking up 5/6 . WINNER
    No damage done .
I will definatley be doing bookings in Ligue 1 this season .

    • kyle b 5 years ago

France is a fantastic league for cards as is Portugal + Espana. Good shout on the early booking, PSG often good for a card or two with bodies they throw forward if opponents are able to counter attack effectively.

Bolton at Wycombe today, only 5 full timers have travelled and 2 of them are goalkeepers,13 of the squad are youth team.My best bet of the day..NAP Wycombe to score 5 or more goals 16/1 @ Ladbrokes.

    Russia u20 v Mauritania u20 21:30

Russia lost their opener to Spain 2-0 and then hammered Bahrain 5-1. Mauritania lost 2-0 to Bahrain and 4-1 to Argentina. Russia should batter them and it’s a case of how many
