WE'VE got another packed midweek card on Tuesday with the Aston Villa vs Leicester EFL Cup semi-final the main event.

There's a pile of Football League games and two Scottish Cup replays – Hibs v Dundee United and Falkirk v Arbroath.

On the Continent there are cup games in France, Italy, Spain and Holland so loads to consider.

Leicester cost me plenty when they failed to beat Villa in the home leg but after that 1-1 draw I reckon the Foxed will get the job done tonight.

Brendan Rodgers' side are well short at 4-9 with bet365 to qualify and I'll be more confident if Jamie Vardy  is given the go-ahead to start.

Leicester are the better team and won 4-1 at Villa Park in the league in December – in the twos meetings this season they had 44 shots on goal which is a massive stat.

The 4-9 is so short that I'm chancing the Foxes to win at 4-5 with Marathonbet.

There are two Scottish Cup replays and I expect Hibs to beat Dundee United at the second attempt.

Hibs were the superior team in a 2-2 draw at Tannadice and as long as they take care of Lawrence Shankland should win in 90 minutes. With 26-goal Shankland such a threat, Hibs and both to score can land at 12-5 with McBookie.

Falkirk have been super strong at home in League One and will fancy their chances of knocking out Championship Arbroath and are 10-11 at McBookie. However, the Smokies deserve respect and are challenging for a play-off spot so this will be tight.

I've been reading my RFO most of the morning and have picked out two trebles and a moneyback fivefold. As always a midweek Football League card isn't easy so keep stakes low.

My goals bet features Hibs v Dundee United as I'm sure both sides will give it a go. Hibs' quality could tell in the end but where there's Shankland there's hope for the Tangerines.

Not many of the English games stand out for goals but Northampton v Scunthorpe has a decent chance. I watched a dreadful 0-0 draw between Northampton and Derby in the FA Cup on Friday but before that four in a row for the home men had brought up btts.

Scunthorpe's last six have brought btts and over 2.5 goals and two of their last three meetings at Northampton have gone that way.

Complete the treble with Monaco v St Etienne in the last 32 of the French Cup. Monaco's matches have been high scoring recently with the last six seeing both scoring and producing 34 goals. Four of St Etienne's last six have gone that way so going by stats should be goals tonight.

For a Top Treble I'm starting with Blackburn whose last game was a 5-0 thumping of Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough. QPR lost at home to a weakened Wednesday in the FA Cup on Saturday and have lost four in a row at Ewood Park without scoring.

Add Wycombe at home to a Blackpool side without a win in six. Wycombe have lost heavily at Peterborough and Sunderland in recent weeks but this game gives the League One title chasers a chance to get back on track.

Complete an 8-1 treble with Plymouth at home to Crawley. Plymouth have won four in a row and five out of six but Crawley are in decent form too with one defeat in six but three of them have been draws.

Third-placed Plymouth have won the only two meetings between the sides at home and Crawley have the second worst away record so I'm chancing the home at just under evens.

The moneyback fivefold is fairly speculative and I'm avoiding those on my treble. Start with Hibs who I'm quite confident about and add Leeds who really must beat Millwall at home to stay in the title chase.

If you can't trust Leeds – and there will be many who can't – swap them for Milan at home Torino in the Italian Cup. Torino were battered 7-0 at home to Atalanta at the weekend and face a side that's not high scoring but have won four in a row.

Derby were rotten at Northampton but in the Championship have won three out of four and can win at a Luton side that's lost five in a row.

Add on-form Portsmouth, six wins in a row, at Doncaster and Crewe at home to Orient in League Two.

Monday was a no bet day for me but well done to any winners including Scott with a nice 11-10 members bet success, HullShaker and maccathered.

Can someone give me a decent acca please? I’ve been on a long losing streak, so frustrating when you keep missing by 1 or 2.

    • Mr Fixit 4 years ago

Probably everyone on the site could give ypu an acca but no one can guarantee you an acca that will win.
If you’re missing buy one do acca insurance and also watch for cashout or cover opportunities.
I’ll have some accas up later as will others.

    • sean567 4 years ago

If you keep losing on accas stick to doubles and trebles. An 11/10 winner is better than an 8/1 loser.

    • Jabba_juice89 4 years ago

      Thanks for the response guys.

I struggle to find value on doubles and trebles. I also keep missing out on winning tips that are posted here on the site for various reasons. Mostly because I wake up late(I work night shifts only). It’s so frustrating, the last time Greg Browning posted the French Ligue 2 first half goals tip(that actually won) I was in the process of entering each selection on my betslip and guess what? I FELL ASLEEP in the middle of it and never finished placing the bet. I then woke up after all the games had kicked off and was also running late for work. Was in a Uber on the way to work and decided to check the scores, I was so gutted when I saw the half time scores. I was so desperate not to miss out that I ended up rushing a bet for the second half thinking the over 1.5 goals in all matches will surely land. Well, it didn’t land and more frustration followed.

    • sean567 4 years ago

“Value” can be misleading. Any bet that’s a winner is better value than a loser. For example just look at yesterday’s thread and maccas arsenal tip.

    • Jabba_juice89 4 years ago

      That is very true.

    • Jamieinga 4 years ago

It’s just a bit of fun for me, I usually go for over 2.5 goals and have 6 games in my acca, I look at the stats and spend about 30 minutes on it before I decide,it’s like doing a cross word also for me, it’s good for the brain,i have a budget that I spend weekly that I can afford to lose,if I lose I forget it quickly and wait the next day for another acca.

    • lossie jim 4 years ago

I know how you feel, two weeks ago waiting for PSG at home to Monaco for a 7 timer, dreww 3-3, then beat the same team 4-1 away from home the following midweek. Then on Sunday had 3 short priced Willie Mullins won man City, Man Utd and was waiting for Liverpool, you couldn’t make it up!! At 2-0 up, I never even thought of cashing out, went to make supper and lo and behold, came back it was 2-2!!!!

    • Jabba_juice89 4 years ago

Jamieinga you are doing the right thing and I wish I could be like you. I’m just not that well disciplined.

    • Jabba_juice89 4 years ago

Lossie Jim, I was contemplating on backing PSG to beat Monaco at home and Liverpool to beat Shrewsbury away, however I changed my mind and went with over 1.5 team goals instead. It was a good decision in the end. My acca came in during that Sunday of the PSG match.
I can also relate to you with Liverpool match, I remember having Benfica to win at home last year against a smaller team, they were 2-0 up and I decided to go sleep thinking it is over, woke up in the middle of the night to a huge shock to discover the final score was 2-2. I still remember the headache I had afterwards, very painful.

      Pls….is this Kashiwa or Kashima

    • sean567 4 years ago

Apologies it’s kashima. There’s no team called kashiwa playing in the afc champions league today.

    • Jabba_juice89 4 years ago

Sean, you’ve posted many winners, I have been impressed and I’m becoming a fan of yours. Good job sir 👏

Would you put any one off from combining the two into an acca for higher returns?

    • sean567 4 years ago

Thanks, its been a good month so far. if that’s how you want to play it jabba then that’s up to you. I obviously think all 4 outcomes will happen so I couldnt put anyone off rolling them into an acca. For higher odds you could also combine those teams to win + over 1.5tgs.

    • cptnsnort 4 years ago

What’s your thinking behind Kaskima scoring 2+? Last clatter of games they scored 3,0,1,0,0,1,1,1

    • sean567 4 years ago

Victory are in a really poor place at the minute. They’ve just sacked their manager and are off the back of a 3-0 home hiding in the big blue derby. Their last 6 away games they’ve conceded in every game and 2+ in 4 of those. Kashima are better than all of those sides they’ve faced. As I said above the fact they haven’t played for a month could come into it, but they really should be netting 2 at home.

    • Jabba_juice89 4 years ago

Thanks Sean, I appreciate your advice and suggestions.

  5. sean567 4 years ago

If your having a bet on the AFC qualifiers today be sensible with stakes- some teams have been out of competitive action for at least a month while others have played once.

  6. GregBrowning 4 years ago

Had a good chuckle to Jason Cummings interview with the media after Shrewsbury’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool

He was asked is going to Anfield the biggest game of his career

He rightly said no as he’s had played in 2 old firm games – Quite right 😂

    • Jabba_juice89 4 years ago

You have already been applauded for identifying leagues that produce over 0.5 first half goals and over 1.5 total match goals, here’s another from me 👏, thank you.

It wasn’t so long ago when you tipped a winning over 1.5 goals for a midweek Championship fixtures(I did stay awake and managed to follow so thank you for that)

Do you think the over 1.5 goals tip for all Championship games could land tonight? How about the over 0.5 first half goals?

    • sean567 4 years ago

hes going to be facing a team of kids with a reserve team boss in charge. probably wont even be his biggest game that week.

    Aston Villa v Leicester City
Aston Villa to qualify at 7/4*****(NAP)
    Under 2.5 goals at 27/20
It would be to easy to jump on the Leicester bandwagon and for anyone on them i can’t blame them given the league positions of both sides and the fact that Leicester hammered Villa at Villa park in their last meeting at that ground. However i don’t believe for one minute Leicester are going to Villa Park and turn them over.In the First leg Villa grabbed a draw and they was good value for that also, and whilst Leicester are doing well in the league they have started to show inconsistency and with Jamie Vardy doubtful it could make things that little easier for Villa. All in all after weighing everything up i’m taking Villa to qualify in a tight match.
    Correct score 1-1
    Best of luck

    • jimba 4 years ago

Macca with you on Villa, great result from 1st leg & I don’t think they will be a repeat of the league game. GL☘

    • maccathered 4 years ago

Good luck Jimba,Villa have just signed a new player and after their victory over Watford in their last game should come into this in high spirits.

    • Mr Fixit 4 years ago

Dean Smith says he doesn’t expect the new boy Samatta to hit the ground running – don’t know if he’ll start tonight.

    • Jamieinga 4 years ago

Vardy will be playing and villa will have to come at us this time as they are at home, you will find that every team has a blip and we’ve had ares, certain players needed a rest and villa won’t be able to keep up with them, 4-1 Leicester

    • maccathered 4 years ago

Rubbish, your a Leicester fan and you have the glasses on lol,you couldn’t break Villa down at home.

    • Mr Fixit 4 years ago

I’ve tipped Leicester but agree it will be tight.
Villa did a number on them at the King Power with a great defensive display but in many ways Leicester are better away from home.
I think Villa will again defend in numbers but can see Leicester edging it as long as Vardy starts.

    • maccathered 4 years ago

Next you will be telling me Leicester are a bigger club than Villa lol

    • Jabba_juice89 4 years ago

Hey Macca, just wanna say I love you simply because you’re a fellow Liverpool fan and I love the way you defend us against others on this site!

    • mr h 4 years ago

Their form drop coincided with Ndidis injury, back in the team last game and they won well. Would have preferred McGinn to be starting but Villa can qualify no problem

Villa are twice the size of Leicester despite the league position. Having lived 1/2mile from Villa Park for 2yrs I can say Villa are a huge club with a big following despite their recent troubles

    • Mr Fixit 4 years ago

I don’t think it matters who the biggest club is traditionally.
For now Leicester are the bigger club because they have more money and are an established Premier League club.
No one would argue Ross County are a bigger club than Falkirk or Dundee Utd but they are when you look at the tables.

    • mr h 4 years ago

Mr F if you look at Englands top flight there’s clubs like Bournemouth,Burnley and Palace while larger fan base sides like Leeds, Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday are all below but still don’t make Burnley a bigger club than Leeds

Leicester still ain’t a bigger club than Villa despite the wealth and league standings.

    • Mr Fixit 4 years ago

Historically no but I’d say at the moment they are – remember they also won the Premier League a few years ago and could easily establish themselves as a top-six club.

    • Mr Fixit 4 years ago

Off to walk the dug in the snow – check in later.

    • mr h 4 years ago

I’d say Leicester are a more attractive club to prospective signings just now….

ive never said Leicester are a bigger club than anyone, but we are a big club, it’s great knowing that Liverpool are a bigger club and we win the premier league before Liverpool 😂

Funniest comment i seen for a while, yes you won an EPL title in a one off season, but you ask any fan and they would give that one EPL title up for a sniff of Liverpool’s history mate.6 times European cup winners biggest club in England by a mile fact and best supported club in the world fact.

    • mr h 4 years ago

Macca you must be super raging that Leicester won an EPL title while your lot we’re winning the champions league 🤣😂🤣😂

Not sure it will be a draw but I agree with your number of goals, I expect a max of 2 goals in this game.

    • Jamieinga 4 years ago

Mr h I’ve never compared Liverpool to Leicester, all I said was that we won the new format before Liverpool and we are a smaller club, yes Liverpool,Utd and Chelsea are bigger clubs than Leicester, but the others like villa and Leeds think they are bigger cus they won a title, cup more than 20 years ago, what’s really matters is now, we are doing brilliant for a smaller club, 3rd in the league and moving forward, the owners are the best and know what they are doing,so give us some credit..

    • maccathered 4 years ago

I give full credit to Leicester for their title winning season i enjoyed watching them. It’s a bit childish to say you won it before us though lol as Liverpool will win it next season also and the season after that and thats what great teams do.

    • mr h 4 years ago

The title winning season was epic too view from the outside and I was rooting for Leicester throughout lad. As a Celtic lad I know better than most how good it is too follow a Brendan Rodgers inspired side and despite what others on here might say about Brendan……he’s a top level coach with football ideas that would succeed at most clubs worldwide. Some give him a hard time for how at ended at A field but in my eyes he’s top drawer

Whats the general feeling about Shankland tonight?
I know lots of you big ‘im up and also Hibs are missing CBs.

Tempted to have a go but don’t know enough about Shankland nor Hibs?
    Cheers

Predator…. that’s as good as it gets. Seen the boy a cupla weeks ago at Firhill. His movement and awareness of space around him is top notch. He has match awareness and intelligence in abundance to go along with his form. Score goals at any level given the ammunition

    • El Gooner 4 years ago

      Nice one mr h👍
How about Hibs 3rd/4th choice CBs? They any good or are they Mustafi level?

    • Mr Fixit 4 years ago

Shankland can play at Premiership level in my opinion – but someone needs to create the chances for him.

    • El Gooner 4 years ago

Thanks for the info mr f and mr h.
Going to have a go on Shankland to score 👍

Villa v Leicester- The 1st leg is now gone and because it was a draw this game is now a one off 90 mins . I find it quite hard to belief the odds for Villa 21/5 esp at home.Going to stick them in a yankee below. Also Millwall 13/2 to beat Leeds outstanding value.Yankee – Villa 21/5, Millwall 13/2,Southend 13/2 & Forest 24/5.GL all.

  36. chelseagirl 4 years ago

@ Maccathered can you give some figures to show how Liverpool are the biggest supported club in the world please .

    • Deano86 4 years ago

      There not obviously

    • mr h 4 years ago

      They’ll be top 5 guaranteed

    • maccathered 4 years ago

They are right up there,Man Utd fans would say different,to put it into perspective,Liverpool went to Australia and filled a 90,000 stadium,Man Utd went and filled a stadium by a quarter, ditto for America also and Asia.A lot go by social media likes but most on Man Utd fan pages are fake anyway probably created by the club to boost popularity.

    • mr h 4 years ago

To be honest Macca I rank Liverpool number one in England and the world when all variables are considered currently and historically. Some will point out Man Utds success in the prevailing 25/30yrs and so they should. However for me Liverpool are the stand alone giants of English football. This is judged by worldwide appeal as well as current ability/form

    • Jabba_juice89 4 years ago

Man Utd fans are mostly glory hunters, same goes for Chelsea and Man City. When have they ever been the 12th man for their team?

    • Jabba_juice89 4 years ago

Our fans are unique and very special. Just watch our games from European nights, atmosphere like no other. Pep Guardiola, Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho have all declared that Anfield is unique, special and can create miracles.

    • Jabba_juice89 4 years ago

Celtic are right beside us, amazing fans and atmosphere. Have you heard YNWA being sung by both sets of fans when Celtic and Liverpool play each other? I can’t describe the feeling, goosebumps all over!
