Top Football Tips

IT'S been a hectic week and we have a little reprieve on Friday before an action-packed weekend.

Fridays are a favourite for folk like Greg Browning and mr orange but for me they're just hectic with my Daily Record deadline and also working on a busy sports desk most Friday nights.

It's a bone of contention as I'd love to spend hours studying Friday's games but it's not possible so as usual at this time of the week I'm focusing on the weekend but have posted a goals double and will add reasoning if I get time.

Friday's English game looks a good one between QPR and Villa and promises goals as does the Bundesliga clash between Freiburg and Borussia M'gladbach.

Other matches to look Valladolid v Espanyol, Nimes v St Etienne and Gent v Charleroi as well as the lower-league French and Dutch matches.

Greg's on holiday in Gran Canaria but he's sitting on a sunbed studying Nancy's form and has posted French goal tips.

Well done to all the winners last night and again there were plenty including Scott with a 9-4 goals double for members.

My Super Single was an evens money winner by my goals treble was one short at Eintracht and the stake was refunded on the moneyback treble with four out of five – PAOK letting me down.

Remember to check out the excellent welovebetting site for their tips and video chat.

    Aussie A league
    Adelaide v Newcastle

Jets were a tad sluggish last week against Phoenix and adelaide looked reasonably impressive versus Sydney. 3 out of last 5 have seen btts and overs with 7 goals in last game at Coopers stadium.

I do fancy jets to score but think adelaide will be too strong.

    Some bets I like are
    btts and o2.5 $2
    Adelaide and over 2.5 $2.75
Bet builder adelaide, btts, over 2.5 $3.6

However, as it is early season I am going to have 3 points on adelaide win at $1.85

    Morning lads
    Brighton v Wolverhampton
    Brighton to win at 11/5****
Cant understand the price here but i’m not complaining as i think Brighton will win, they have picked up winning their last two games and have look pretty hard to beat .Wolves suffered a home defeat in their last game v Watford and will want to win here but for me the value lies in the home win.

    Liverpool v Cardiff
    Over 3.5 goals at 10/11*****
    Over 4.5 goals at 11/5****
    Over 5.5 goals at 4/1**
    Over 6.5 goals at 10/1*
Cardiff have been woeful in this league thus far and i don’t expect things to get any better for them here,The Cardiff manager has admitted that his team cannot set up to defend as they wouldn’t know how to and i like his honesty.I would expect an open game here and this will not suit Cardiff one bit.Goals and plenty of them for me.

    Watford v Huddersfield
    Watford to win at 3/4*****
Watford got a resounding victory over Wolves in their last outing and should beat a Huddersfield side that are not clinical enough in front of goal.
    sunday
    Man Utd v Everton
Man Utd to win at 8/11*****
Man Utd to win -1 asian handicap at 2.250*****
We all know how Man Utd have been playing lately having been beaten at Old Trafford in their last game. They have won only one of their last seven games but i am not going to let that stat put me off backing them to win here. Now we all know how good they used to be under Alex Ferguson and them days are long long gone but they will pick up a win here and there they simply have to otherwise they could find themselves well out of europe next season.
    Monday
    Spurs v Man City
Man City to win at 3/4*****
I can’t see any other result than a City win here at a good price,Liverpool all being well will be top and City will want to win to keep up.
    Best of luck folks!

Man Utd have to win no other result will do.Martial has rejected a new contract offer which is a big embarrassment to the club, with other clubs lurking i think he would be a great signing for Liverpool, who are a lot better prospect for a footballer than Man Utd.Very rare will you see business done between the two clubs but there could be on this one.

    Morning gents

FRIDAY night means my usual trip to one of my favourite leagues – French Ligue 2. It’s been a bit of a mixed start to the season here in terms of my Friday night NAP, that’s been negated though by the fact we’ve already had three first half goal specials landing and we are only in October. I have a strong goals double tonight

    Sochaux v Niort (7pm)

The hosts surprised everyone last week as they won 2-1 away at a rejuvenated Troyes. It was a great win for a side that has been struggling.

Niort have gone off the boil a bit in recent weeks but still posses more than enough quality to find the net here

Two inconsistent sides but both capabale of scoring and with the last 8 matches between the two sides all seeing at least two goals I’m taking that to happen again tonight

    Grenobles v Troyes (7pm)

What a story it’s been so far for newly promoted Grenobles – they sit in 5th place and are 15 points clear of bottom place.

They won’t be looking down – their focus will be on maintaining their great run of form and closing the gap on the top two sides who are only 6 points ahead of them.

They are scoring plenty of goals and welcome a
Troyes side who have recovered after their horrible start to the season.

Both sides have more than enough quality find the net and we should see at least two goals on this game

The bookies are fairly generous when it comes
To over 1.5 goals in this league, enabling us to create an evens over 1.5 goals double

I’d be very surprised if this didn’t land

    Recommendation

    Over 1.5 match goals double
    21/20 (Coral) (NAP)

Will be on the usual specials but as @snikrap has kindly pointed out, if you shop around you get
Better odds than sky bet specials

    Recommendation

All 8 French Ligue 2 games
Goal on the first half – 40/1 Ladbrokes
    Over 1.5 match goals – 18/1 Ladbrokes

    ⚽⚽⚽⚽

    Saturday 3pm English Nap

AGAIN Upon looking at Saturday’s card I have to go with the goals market folks and it paid dividends midweek as my bet was won and paid out by the 63rd minute.

    🌟NAP🌟

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 English 1.5 goals treble and reasoning 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

▪Bury and forest green featured midweek and again stats wise you can understand why I would chose them again.

    ***************************

    *Sunderland vs Southend* League 1

Sunderland come into this game with 2 fine performances away from home and both games they were great prices to win. Their last 8 games from 9 away and home have all seen over 1.5 goals with only last weeks 0-1 win at Doncaster not. Others were 0-2.3-1.1-2.2-2.1-1.4-1.2-1.2.1-1.
They are also unbeaten at home.

Southend come into this game on a 5 game over 1.5 streak away from home and 4 in last 5 also over 1.5 goals. Their last 5 away read 0-2.2-0.1-2.2-3.2-0.

On those stats again I’ll be happy to start off with them.

*Port Vale vs Bury* League 2

Bury Made me wait until after half time midweek to seal the bet and they drew but maynard proved a formidable force again.
Their 1.5 goals are on a 5 game streak with 1-1.4-0.2-1.1-1.2-2. They are starting to find their feet recently and have scored in all their last 5 and unbeaten in 7 games and I fancy them to score 2 or more here and I feel the 10/11 for the away win Is also generous enough in my eyes.

Their opponents Port Vale can’t have much to be happy about and sit 16th in the table and inlast 5 games have scored 3 and conceded 10 goals. Their last 5 at home have seen over 1.5 goals achieved 80% with 2-0.2-6.1-0.0-2.1-1. And only 2 of those where wins.

Again happy to add this in as my second selection based on above.

*Exeter vs Forest Green* League 2

One of my favourite teams to back as a Saturday single Exeter come into this game unbeaten in 11 but drawing their last 2. They need to rekindle the form that saw them gain 15 points back at the start of the season. They have had a total of 12 over 1.5 games out of 15 and their opponents are TOP of the 1.5 standings as ill highlight next.
Exeter will need to score this game I feel to get anything out of it and their boss Matt Taylor will be hoping for them to nick 3 points. There are unbeaten at home in 5 with 5 wins and 4 over 1.5s with 2-0.1-0.2-0.3-2.5-1.

As I highlighted midweek forest green CANNOT keep a clean sheet and come into this game on the back of a fine 3-1 win over tranmere.
Forest green come into this game following a fine 3-1 win on Tuesday over tranmere but as I highlighted midweek they CANNOT keep a clean sheet and their last 7 yes 7 in a row have all seen bts and over 1.5 in 3-1.1-1.2-1.1-1.1-1.1-3.1-1 and I expect that to continue again against an Exeter side who will be aiming for automatic promtotion.

    *Over 1.5 goals treble*

    ➡3/10 Sunderland game
    ➡3/10 Port vale game
    ➡3/10 Exeter game

    *NAP* @ 1.19/1 combined

💥 GOODLUCK all. Your health is your wealth 💥

    Afternoon gents,

Last night saw both selections come in at 5/6 and 5/2 and hoping for more success this evening!

I’m heading off to Ireland for a few days fishing at 2am so will be tucked up early doors and won’t have much chance to post over the next few days – one game that could be worth a look later though and I can’t ignore the irony of the teams involved…

RHYL VS. HOLYHEAD HOTSPUR (1930 KO):

My 0200 start will see me arrive in Holyhead at around 0630 for a ferry meet-up and I sincerely hope the local paper’s back pages are full of goals!

Sometimes you have to make hay whilst the sun shines and I can see a poor Rhyl side doing just that against an even poorer Holyhead outfit; the commonality here is goals and both sides combined match goal totals reads 29 across the last 6 games…not too shabby at all.

Whilst the March ‘away’ Holyhead fixture finished a drab 0-1 to Rhyl, the November H2H on home soil finished with a stonking 5-2 scoreline to the hosts and I’ll be hoping for more of the same tonight.

    One selection:

    OVER 3.5 MGS…5/4

Afternoon guys is been a sunnyside of the season, hoping it rains tonight just one game for me and ill be surprise if it doesn’t land,
FC Lorient vs FC Metz 7pm no much write up about this fixture due to time management.
lorient scoring 2-3-4 goals at home this season should enable this land easily tonight and metz capable of scoring on the road which would bring in BTTS; but going for more value here since goals is written all over this one from both teams that would easily land the overs market so two selections to consider here

    Friday – Keuken Kampioen divisie

    Sparta v Telstar

Sparta were named as the favourite for promotion at the beginning of the season. They are in second place now and only lost 1 game this season. Sparta only conceded 7 goals in 10 games and have the best defence in the league. They kept 4 clean sheets in 5 home games and scored 2+ in all their 5 home games. Sparta have a couple of players who could easily play on Eredivisie level. Good old Royston Drenthe played the full 900 minutes in their 10 games and striker Lars Veldwijk has scored 6 goals in 10. Sparta host Telstar who are mid table having won 4 games and lost 6. The 4 games they won were against the teams who are 18th, 19th and 20th in the league now. The other game was a 1-0 win against Oss who aren’t very good either. Telstar only scored 10 goals this season and 4 of them came against bottom team Dordrecht, they didn’t score in 3 of their 5 away games.

    Sparta -1.25 Asian handicap @ 1.83

Odds shortened on the -1.25, but they should cover it. -1.5 is a good alternative

  19. mr. orange 5 years ago

Another game I looked at is the Volendam v Jong Ajax game, but I don’t like to bet on the games which feature the reserve teams.

Still not sure which players Jong Ajax will take to the game. There were 5 of them playing in the UEFA Youth League game against Benfica on Tuesday, all regular starters for Jong Ajax as well. Including 3 defenders.

Bakker, Botman, Ekkelenkamp, Gravenbergh and Bakboord (suspended for Volendam game) played the full game on Tuesday. If they all not feature in this game there is some value to be found in the home side markets.

  20. nathanufton 5 years ago

Couldn’t agree with you more on the QPR btts, but surely with McClaren seemingly turning a new corner and QPR starting to hit a bit of form, my choice would be QPR win and btts @ 4/1 with bet365, I’m sure there’s better prices out there but the btts component is obviously key to a win/btts result. I saw QPR are marginal favourites with the same bookie to win @ 13/8.
Gotta be worth a quid surely?

Obviously for those that followed my Wednesday tips based on a point per bet would of seen a 13+ pts gain after the WBA/Derby game and put all of my posted tips back in the black with some to spare. I saw the btts coming, just that it took 86 minutes to happen but it was the missing component I needed to land my main tip + bragging rights on a full house. For those that tip and don’t deliver solid tips to the site, it feels like a sucker punch when it doesn’t pan out how you expect. I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this.
Because I have a stack of stuff to do and tomorrow trip for the rams up to the North East is a televised 12:30pm kickoff, I’ll be uber busy from 11am until probably 3am ish. I used to DJ for 17+ years and my old roadie is now a DJ and 3 or 4 times a year, I go with him to mentor. So you won’t get anything posted from me tomorrow, but that doesn’t mean I can’t post tonight.
So before I write my preview on the mouth-watering tie for the third match against a top 4 side in 8 days, I’ll throw in a few thoughts early to give you guys the gist of where I’m going with this thread.
As stated before we faced WBA, I knew we’d concede ( Derby ), WBA’s home record of 5 back to back wins going into that match was always going to be a tall order for the Rams to get something out of the game. But @ 14/5 for the Derby win, I just felt the bookies had it wrong. Derby were terrific but Lampard agreed with my immediate thoughts in saying we could of been a bit more clinical. WBA conceded via a dreadful backpass from Rodriguez to their keeper, Marriot gambled on that ball by seeing Rodriguez playing that exact same ball in the WBA movement just prior to that goal. It knocked the wind out their sails and Lawrence danced into their last 3rd and curled a peach of a shot in off the post with just 15 mins on the clock. Their fans got on their backs from that point onwards, the 3rd Derby goal around 5 mins after kick-off emptied half of the stadium. Derby really did seem to play like they were going to score with every attack but the WBA players heads dropped, their body language was all wrong and they just gave up. Derby pressing deep and very early on caused WBA to make panic clearances, giving the ball away, putting it out of play and loads of mistakes was their standout point during that whole game.
We’ve now had 6 very good pts from 2x top 4 sides and we now face Middlesbrough. Last year, this same fixture, Derby had awful results and Borough were the team to beat. I was not relishing that tie, but Vydra had other plans and grabbed a hattrick against them for a comfortable 3 nil win to the Rams.
Again for Borough, I expect them to be in the top 6 come May but think Tony Pullis’s managerial qualities have dipped since he left Stoke. He used to have a big strong physical side that could bully you off the ball and keep it tight at the back. But Borough’s results from their last 3 suggests they’re struggling at home. No home goals in 3 matches, 2x 0-0’s and a 2 nil loss to Notts Forest.
Surely they can’t go 4 home games without a goal? I don’t think so either. Obviously, they’ll also have a go at Derby, again, this opens the game up and should give the rams a chance to compete. The likely suspects I mentioned in my previous preview – Wilson/Mount/Lawrence/Marriot have the speed and creativity to damage a team with a quick break. 3 of those 4 found themselves on the scoresheet on Wednesday. Unless Borough park the bus ( they won’t ), I can see the result going Derby’s way and the btts landing AGAIN. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
If we as punters can make an educated guess at which games are likely to see btts come up, its only 1 goal to the good that can see either btts and overs 2.5 or btts/win come up. I believe this game has every chance to deliver a similar outcome to the WBA/Derby game. A Derby clean sheet would be brill, but in reality, I don’t want Derby to win to nil.
For very similar reasons, I am also keeping tabs on Leeds V Forest. I think btts will land and Leeds make home advantage count. That also opens up a potential for the 2x btts bets to land.
4x permed doubles siding with Derby and Leeds to cover the btts/win and btts/overs. A 2-1 for both sides would see all 4 bets land. All around 30/1. I’ll be up later with my preview.

    Evening All,

Not posted since Monday, but noted some good wins and great tipping again on the European and domestic scene.

Posting a treble for tonight which has reasoning already given by Mr Orange (Sparta) and possible by Nathan/others (QPR/Villa – BTTS; on this one, QPRs rise up the league under the ‘Wally with the Brolly’ has not gone unnoticed, and they will take the game to Villa on their own patch and should net at least one; Villa will hope for a resurgence under new management with Villa blood in the veins, and unless I’m mistaken they have scored in every match this season bar the League cup 1-0 defeat away to Burton.

Third part to the treble is the little publicised Scottish Lowland league; little known apart from East Kilbride who broke Ajax’s record of consecutive wins (27) a couple of years ago.

Tonight’s match doesn’t involve them but 2 teams mid table; BSC Glasgow v Vale of Leithen. Like the Scottish Reserve league goals can be a feature of this league; Glasgow involved in 35 mgls in their 10 games and VoL 49 mgls in 11 games. 2-0 games have appeared for both teams but I’m going for a 3+ goals match.

Rhyl get their 3rd on ’39 and anyone on can cover at 11/2…advice would be to let it run 😀

    Friday 7-fold:

🇦🇹 Mattersburg (Am) vs Bruck Leitha
    ⚽️ Over 2.5 MG ✔️

    🇦🇹 Amstetten vs Wattens
    ⚽️ BTTS✖️

    🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 QPR vs Aston Villa
    ⚽️ Over 1.5 MG ✔️

    🇫🇷 Grenoble vs Troyes
    ⚽️ Over 1.5 MG ✔️

    🇫🇷 Lorient vs Metz
    ⚽️ Over 1.5 MG✖️

    🇫🇷 Sochaux vs Niort
    ⚽️ BTTS✖️

    🇳🇱 FC Emmen vs Venlo
⚽️ Venlo to score in first half ✔️

    21.5/1 @ Betfair

Also on the 5-folds and 6-folds in these games too, so hopefully get most of my stake back if nothing else. This is a strategy that has been working well for me in recent weeks bearing in mind the high odds of my accumulators.

    ————————

    Also on these Betfair specials:

🇮🇪 Over 2.5 MG in all Irish Premier Division matches (6.5/1)✖️

🇳🇱 Over 1.5 MG in all Dutch Eerste
    Divisie matches (2.75/1)✖️

    Good luck all! 😎

    ————————

Lost the specials by 2 goals and 1 goal respectively and one short on the 5-fold insurance payout in my 7-fold. Close but no cigar!

Had a good night on the in-plays so happy there.

    Onwards to tomorrow! 👍

Just wondered what people think of SÃO PAULO over 1.5tgs at 13/8?

    • lockhart 5 years ago

Early bird as I will be asleep
      Central Coast Mariners btts&over 11/10@bet365👌

    • richard10100 5 years ago

Cheers if the 2 am on come in I’ll be on yours 👍

  44. richard10100 5 years ago

Cruz azul at half time seems decent to score a 2nd goal on paper. I’ve gone double my standard stake in over 1.5tgs at 8/13

    • richard10100 5 years ago

In after 11 mins of the 2nd half. Could well do a 3rd which I’ll be on but it maybe is risky

    Hi

I tried to submit a match preview for Fulham v Bournemouth , but I think it’s not worked. Let me know and I’ll type it up again if it’s gone.

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

It’s there – it will probably be scheduled to be published first thing in the morning.

    Vitoria b. A game o2. 5 6/4 o3. 5 7/2 inplay

  47. richard10100 5 years ago

Am on a risky sao paulo 1 goal by half time at 11/4 but prob tad higher now as was few mins ago. Risky but I think they got 2-3 goals in this match so I’ll risk it

    • richard10100 5 years ago

There’s the goal :) although if they do a second I’ll be upset as it will down my bet and I also considered taking 2+ at 18/1 😂

  48. richard10100 5 years ago

I think SÃO PAULO has 2 goals at least in them as I said above so now half time and they’re 0-1 up I’ve doubled staked on over 2.5mgs at 5/4… I’m my opinion home team could get one and away could get 2 so I think at the odds it’s worth it and I’ve done alright in my last couple so let’s go for it

    • richard10100 5 years ago

That’s away could get 2 more**

    • richard10100 5 years ago

      Very poor!
