IT'S the game we've been waiting for in Scotland as Brendan Rodgers and Steven Gerrard go head to head for the first time at 12 noon.

Celtic v Rangers is usually mouthwatering but there is an extra edge to this one as former Liverpool boss Rodgers takes on his old pupil Gerrard.

It should be a cracker and for the first time for years Celtic are uneasy favourites. Rangers started off at 11-2 and it was too big and likely to be around 3-1 by kick-off.

Gerrard has six wins and six draws in his first 12 games and Europa League qualification. I've tipped Rangers not to lose in a game with loads of goals and cards in my separate match preview. For the Super Single I'm sticking my neck out and backing Rangers draw no bet at 10-3 with McBookie.

Other games on Sunday include Burnley v Man United, Cardiff v Arsenal and Watford v Spurs. Fancy the three favourites although Man United of course worry me.

There are big games all over the Continent and I've picked out a goals treble and have added a moneyback fivefold featuring favourites in Germany and Italy.

Both to score at Rangers is reasoned in the preview and I'm adding over 2.5 goals at Nacional v Benfica and Porto v Moreirense. The last five meetings at Nacional have produced 22 goals with btts and over 2.5 goals coming up. Five of Nacional's last six games have gone that way too and Benfica will be in good spirits after their 4-1 win at PAOK to reach the Champions League group stage.

Porto's last four at home to Moreirense have gone over 2.5 goals with three of them finishing 3-0. Porto have conceded this season to Tondela and Maritimo while Moreirense have conceded in all of their games.

Saturday was disappointing with Peterborough drawing to beat the Super Single. It was a toss-up between them an Derby who I took in the paper.

Man City were wasteful, especially Sergio Aguero, in their 2-1 defeat of Newcastle and that downed the Top Treble. I cashed out in the pub when they led 2-1 and I hope plenty of others did too but it's a 3pt loss on to the stats.

My only winners were on the members bet (17-10 teams to score fivefold) and three aways out of four at about 18-1 on the VIP tips.

Well done to all the winners including Jordan, Greg and Nathan and good luck on Sunday.

Remember to check out all the match previewsand have a look at welovebetting for their tips and videos.

One bet I like in the Celtic game is btts and over 2 cards per team at 19-4.

      Rangers draw no bet 11-4
And red card at 6-4 also of interest.

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

It could be a cardfest – atmosphere will be electric and I don’t think Gerrard will know what’s hit him.

    • maccathered 6 years ago

Haha i think Steven Gerrard is used to big games Mr f.He’s been in bigger games than Celtic v Rangers lol

    • recoba 6 years ago

Completely different but Macca being a first time manager,he be itching to put his boots. Enjoy!

    • foundmyfunk 6 years ago

Don’t rise to the bait, Macca.
After yesterday’s nonsense I hought the anti ‘pool rhetoric would die down a tad. A C.V that includes 2 Fa Cup finals, 2 CL finals, playing in some of the least friendly grounds in Europe, Munich 5-1 in 2001, Bashed Real in Madrid, Countless Utd and Everton derbies plus games against Jose’s Chelsea in CL semis..pure cauldrons of hate. He should keep the jitters at bay. Big big game for Kent and Ejaria.. Hope they score and Celtic take a beating.

    • mr h 6 years ago

Have a word Macca. The Merseyside derby is a snore fest at best, your lot usually used too sit amongst each other and go for a drink before and after the so called big derby match . Sure your lot might have better quality on the park each and every time but for atmosphere, history, aggression, and sheer madness the Old Firm Derby wins hands down ?

8/900 Rangers fans amongst 60,000 screaming voices in what’s been described by many of visitors from afar as the best atmosphere they’ve ever sampled ? Gerrards in for a shock

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

Gerrard has been involved in bigger games than Celtic v Rangers and we all know that. It’s not what I said.
I said he won’t have experienced anything like it just for the hatred and the sheer madness of it.
The rivalry is much more intense and tribal than Liverpool v Everton for example.
Interesting to hear his thoughts about it after the game.

    • maccathered 6 years ago

It’s not bigger than Liverpool v Man utd thats for sure,it goes beyond hate in them games and it;s a bigger derby than Everton v Liverpool

    • christoff1977 6 years ago

Macca always has to have the last word. And showing his complete ignorance of the history of the Old Firm, it always has been and will be about more than football as anyone with any awareness knows. This whole oneupmanship is getting very tedious…

    • oz777 6 years ago

Nothing compares to a Bankies v Yoker derby Paul.
But we’ll leave them to it…

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

I think we’re too good for Yoker these days – 6-0 in the cup at the start of the season summed up it.

    • foundmyfunk 6 years ago

? Steven Gerrard. Not dissing the old firm Derby but h has had quite a history of abuse from opposite fans. Should thrive off it. Earning his apprenticeship at Rangers for his homecoming in 4 years.

    Evening gents

It’s all eyes on the Celtic v Rangers game tomorrow and I’m struggling to call it. Celtic have been far from convincing this season but they do have home advantage and their players have experience in this match. Can understand why people are looking at bookings with the usual suspects like Scott Brown and Kyle Lafferty popular but I’m going to take a different slant on it

Both Craig Gordon and Allan McGregor are both prone to moments of madness and both know how big this game is. Time wasting, bringing someone down getting involved in a rammy, both are huge prices and worth a punt. McGregor was 40/1 – now 25/1, Gordon was 50/1 now 33/1

    ****************************

    Cardiff v Arsenal KO 1.30pm

Three matches into the new season and Cardiff already look like a team
who aren’t going to escape bottom three all season. The fact they have yet to score and don’t look like scoring is a huge concern as they welcome an Arsenal team who collected a much needed three points last week. Can’t see anything but an Arsenal win here

    Watford v Tottenham KO 4pm

What a start to the season it’s been for the men from Vicerage Road – won all three league games and through to the next round of the league cup, they have exceeded all expectations so far – this is their toughest match yet as they welcome a Spurs side who can also go joint top with a win today. This should be a cracking game and I can see both sides getting on the scoresheet here

    Arsenal to win
Watford v Spurs over 2.5 goals

    Double pays 7/4 (MarathonBet) (NAP)

    *****************************

Early goal bet opportunities at 5pm in Norway and Italy at 7.30pm – markets appear in play ( search 1st goal time) – landed all 5 games in. Italy last week for a hefty 4 figure return and definitely a bet worth doing every week

    Burnley goal before 79:00 @ 10/11 @ 365 – 3 points

Played in Europe midweek but rested some of the starting XI. In reality I think they knew it would be tough to turn their tie against Olympiakos, and much fancied their chances against a United side in near turmoil. I’ve flexed my guns against my own side multiple times on here and usually know when we’re in trouble. While Burnley may not win, I can see them putting more pressure on our defence and will be dangerous from their set pieces as per. Value.

@fraser51 or anyone else, interested in what your inplay to cards approach would be today in the Celtic v Rangers game. I think Rangers have been picking up lots of cards since start of the season but have been struggling to find some value. Really fancy over 2.5 cards for Rangers but only 4-11….
    Had problems logging in yesterday,
    Worth considering today,
Genk to win and btts at 11-5 (7pm bet 365)
Genk have been flying whilst, won last 5 with win and btts whilst Kortrijk have lost opening 2 home games despite getting on the scoresheet, 11-5 looks a decent price.

    Liverpool u23s,
the scousers have had a slow start , drawing first 3 games , but expecting them , to start winning and scoring,
they were runners up last season , and most games go over 2.5 ,playing west ham today who have scored 9
in last 3 games , but only one win, incredible , this one could go over 3.5 ,
but safer bet could be over 2.5 to add to accumulators .

Just a heads up if anyone uses Novibet. There is an error in total team points for the Newcastle v Saracens (Rugby Union, 3pm KO). Away Team Total points line is set at 18.5 @1.8 and Home is set at 27.5. They have mixed up Home and Away, and Saracens line (confirmed if you check out Bet365 lines) should be the 27.5, and Newcastle the 18.5. Enjoy, i will be backing Saracens over 18.5 all day.

    Premierleague Cardiff v Arsenal 13:30pm

Didn’t have time to submit my full match review this week so a summarised version here.

Arsenal travel to a Cardiff team yet to score this season, although they have proved fairly tough to breakdown, only conceding twice against Bournemouth and keeping clean sheets against Huddersfield & Newcastle. However, Arsenal are a very different proposition, and with Emery naming a front four of Aubamayang, Lacazette, Ramsey & Ozil I really feel there are goals in this match for the gunners, who will be very keen to go into the international break with 6pts in the bag. Chelsea aside, Arsenal have looked far brighter and more dangerous when Aubamayang and Lacazette have been on the pitch at the same time and it’s exciting to see them starting together for the first time.

Warnock has already said he wants his team to ‘rough’ Arsenal up and especially Ramsey, which says alot about Cardiff’s ambition and I’ll be surprised if they finish the season still in the premiership.

    Recommended bets

After making some profit yesterday I woke up this morning and threw some of it away kicking myself; today sees some games from the Iceland division 1 and 2, but my focus would be the division 2 the game between KARI AKRANES VS IF HOTTUR
Kari sits 3rd on the log with a remarkable goal ratio of 2-3-4-3-4-3 while Hottur sits close to the drop they have been woefully away from home with a goal ratio of 0-0-3-1-2-0, with Kari playing at home in front of their fans is another goal laden day for them:

1 win and 5 points from the first 4 league games… Pedro had 2 wins and 7 points ?

Seriously though, we are still a far better team than Rangers and totally dominated today’s game. Hats off too Alan Macgregor, the big man was the difference between a doing and escaping with a narrow defeat. The gap is now 4 points(7 behind Hearts) let’s see how Rangers new management and squad react too the pressure of playing catch up in the Old Firm goldfish bowl. A place where second is nowhere ?

    • alva glen 6 years ago

Mr .H ,Yip have to agree with you. Celtic at 4/6 h/t was buying money it was only a matter of time. Macgregor could have quite easily been sent off tho in 1st half.

  46. lossie jim 6 years ago

Couldn’t fathom all the hype about Rangers, as they haven’t played the top boys yet, lucky to get a draw at Motherwell last week. Despite all the transfer market activity, Gerrard is in a worse position than Pedro was in the league this time last year!! The crossbar beat my 3-0 Celtic bet!!

    • alva glen 6 years ago

Celtic are in a worse place too . Out the CL. and have been beat in the league. All Celtic fans should have had their hoose on them at h/t.

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

Clearly Rangers have improved and are on the up but you have to give Gerrard time.
Celtic showed today there’s still a gap. No point in comparing this side to last season’s and remember they’ve started with away games at Aberdeen, Motherwell and Celtic – 3 of the toughest they’ll get.

Not the best of Sunday night cards in SA but one game may just offer some appeal…

INDEPENDIENTE FBC VS. GENERAL DÍAZ (2030 KO):

The future is not looking too bright for either side here as they sit a respective 2nd bottom and bottom after 7 matches.

There have been some healthy scorelines in recent games for both – unfortunately for them the majority of those goals have been against! That said, there are very few games in which either side have failed to net and the H2H history is pretty rich.

Over the past 16 months, the sides have met on 5 occassions; 4 of those 5 saw both sides scoring with 3 of the 5 saw btts AND 3 or more match goals.

Including the older H2H’s from the old Div 2 days, 3 of the match-ups have finished 1-1…might not be much but my gut feeling is a score draw and Diaz were the team that went on a 4 game 1-1 draw run just last month!

With potentially so much at stake, this bottom of the table clash ought to be closely fought with neither side wanting to slip up and give ground and points to their nearest adversary.

Two selections and small stakes a necessity:

    DRAW…9/4
    (Unibet)

    SCORE DRAW…3/1
    (Bet365)

Well worth a go if you can get a good price fpr goals…let us know pal ?

    • admadi 6 years ago

Yeh I noticed the opposition have been firing blanks recently but going back a few weeks it looks like 3 or 4 goals was reasonably common for both sides so I think I’ll have a dabble on o.3.5 at 6/5 with Sky. And because I have a childish sense of humour I can’t resist a quid on Willy to come from behind @ 18/1.

Willy Serrato (Peru Segunda 9:45) O3.5 6/5 skybet.

Boca Juniors v Velez >2.5 mgls
    DC Utd v Atlanta BTTS

Both Boca and Velez have strong recent records, both only 1 defeat in last dozen or so matches, that have come in new league season so both find themselves 3/4 of way down leagues. Boca have outstanding home HDH record, and surprisingly for Argentina both average over 3 mgls in that time.

MLS has seen a glut of over 2.5 mgls this season, but I’m erring on caution as DC last 3 matches have been under…still think they’ll score.
