OCTOBER nearly ended with a spectacular win but just like last month I ended a goal short.
I attempted an 18-1 over 2.5 goals fourfold nicked from Chip69 and while the first three came in we were beaten by Boavista 2, Braga 0.
And the second goal came too late to consider a cover bet or receive a decent cashout offer. My Top Treble was downed by Granada's loss to end a decent run.
So it's back to the drawing board for the start of November and as usual my focus is on Saturday's card. Greg has already picked out Dundee at home to Morton and I'm taking over 2.5 goals on a treble. I'll add reasoning if I get a chance.

It’s always a bad sign for a club when the off field antics overshadow the on field action. My beloved Derby County are as unpredictable on the pitch as they are off it. Having offered Keogh a ” we’ll let you keep your job for the next 17 months but take a pay cut from £25k a week to £12.5k “, he rejected it. Statutory sick pay is £87 a week, yet the sword was swung and he’s received his P45.
This has really divided the fans. I’m not one of them. Lawrence and Bennett never followed suit because they’re both still fit to play for the next 17 months, Keogh isn’t and the two joy-riders have youth on their side – so as an asset, they’re both worth more on paper than Keogh. I still think Derby will offload the pair of them at the earliest opportunity because this whole saga is really affecting thinks on the pitch.
Tomorrow we entertain Middlesbrough who are ripe for the picking. I think Derby have won their last 3 at home but our away record is dreadful. Borough are in all sorts of problems and sit in the 22nd spot.
The match is winnable for the rams but I’ll take a look at the starting line-up tomorrow before I comment further. Cocu has been playing players out of position and it is not reaping the benefits. 2 of the last 3 home wins has seen Derby being very lucky. Shinnie scored a scorcher of a half volley at the death against Wigan and we didn’t deserve anything in that game. We also struggled against Birmingham.
My eyes though are on tonights U23’s game at home to Wolves U23’s. Derby’s women, U19’s and U23’s are all playing some decent football. I tell you how bad it is with DCFC, we have 4 nominated goals for Octobers goal of the month competition – 2 were from Derby’s 1st team ( Shinnie and Lawrence goals ) – 2 were from the U23’s !! You couldn’t make it up.
