IT'S the time of the year when English clubs get all excited about Easter and decide to pack in two games in three days.
Championship, League One and League Two clubs are in action with Ayr v Ross County the only game in Scotland.
On the Continent there are a few big games and the usual lower-league fixtures in France and Holland so loads to look at.
It may be Good Friday but it's a bad Friday for me as my full concentration is on Saturday's games and filling my Daily Record pages.
I've picked out a couple of trebles and will add reasoning if I get time early in the afternoon. There are some lunchtime kick-offs down south so beware of that.
Last night my goals double was a loser but Eintracht Frankfurt qualified for the Europa League semis on away goals to land the 18-5 treble I put up last week.

In December 2020 we sadly 
A cautionary note about Derby’s trip to Birmingham. Both teams need points for opposite reasons. Birmingham’s pts deduction sees them in another potential relegation scrap and Derby have to keep pressure on top finish top 6. Birmingham were doing ok until that points deduction with some good scalps being had. I’d think that any league position above the relegation slots with a little to spare is Birmingham’s aim. They’re a lot more consistent than their previous few campaigns.
Derby are a bit ropey away from home this season and technically, since we have to play Bristol who like us have a game in hand. If Derby win all their games, they’ll finish at least in 6th. ( Provided we do the biz against Bristol ). I think we’re going to be relying on other teams to drop points though. I don’t like the ” this is in our own hands ” situation. We’ve not coped that well with pressure games yet. Rotherham could of been a banana skin but wasn’t, then we had Brentford who made us work to stay in the game and Blackburn scalped us with 2 goals.
I won’t be betting on this game. Clean sheets are still a problem for Derby and it depends on who turns up as to what result comes. I think if I was to steer towards something, then I’d say BTTS is a good possibility and be cautious of the lack of contribution to the corners count that Derby are making. It might be worth a few quid to bet on Birmingham to win more corners and win the race to 3 or 5 corners.

Shocking stuff inIceland last night and inconceivable to predict a 0-0 draw pre-KO but that’s what it was with Valur playing half the game with only 10 men after a rare 1st half red card scuppered things.

Some shameful stuff still going on behind the scenes at Gigg with staff and players still unpaid although rumours of a 50% pay award (from last month mind!) being subsidised by the EFL late yesterday.
Aside from the desperate financial situation, the one correlation with our sudden dip in form was the loss of playmaker and mazy dribble-king Danny Mayor but he’s back today and could make all the difference against a County side who are pushing hard for a playoff place.
His style of play has been the perfect foil for fellow midfielder Jay O’Shea this season and I wonder if his return could re-open the scoring book for JOS in a tense game that may well feature a penalty as a direct result of Mayor’s many forays into the box.

this was a SERIOUS contender for my nap single at 2.5 goals. Anyway stats wise this is mental. Carlisle last 10 all seen 1.5 achieved. Carlisle last 5 at home all seen BTS and all seen OVER 2.5 Serious record. Lincoln has one of the best away records for grabbing goals and scoring in each of their LAST 10 away. That’s serious stats there and LOOK yourself for extra confidence.
Northampton v Macclesfield — over 1.5 goals 1/3
Pure dog fight this one and last week Northampton got the 2 goals but didn’t concede ffs. They will host the worst defence in the league and Macclesfield have conceded 70 goals and last 10 have seen the 1.5 achieved which speaks volumes. Northampton last 4 in a row have achieved the market and Macclesfield are 2 points clear of the drop and if they want to be safe you have to score goals and its all out attack as Yeovil lie below them and a win for them would move them clear and if Macclesfield lost then they go down to that spot. Yeah thats pretty much spot on. Browne mainly looks for the big shot where Allen has a bit more finesse with head movement and weaving. Allen’s money shot is the overhand right and if it connects on the button the fight can finish at any moment but usually he needs to find the range for it first. He laid out Nick Webb with it and broke Bracamonte’s nose with it leading to the TKO in round 7. I can definitely see Garcia-Granados going over 9. As usual Garcia will be looking for the left but Granados’ chin is decent so it will probably be a points win. Gutted I’m gonna miss the whole UK card as working but my bet is going to be Khan to be knocked down against Crawford 1/3. No explanation necessary 😂 that punch resistance is just non existance and Crawford will time him at some point with a shot. Good luck today mate.

Plucky fighter is the Bolton lad and his speed will land plenty of lighter strikes in the initial rounds but his natural style just leaves him wide open.
