I HOPE you're happy with the new format and enjoyed reading all the match previews. They were all good efforts and well done to anyone who posted a winner.

The day started with a shock for Celtic and plenty of people tipped things such as Kyle Lafferty to be booked. I stayed away from the WDW with doubts about the Hoops line-up but did fancy goals.

My Super Single was void with Spurs winning by one and week two was definitely tougher than week one.

However, I made a profit on the day with 2pts on my both to score treble with games at Derby, Stoke and Wolves.

On Sunday the big game is Arsenal v Man City and I fancy the champions to make a perfect start.

A lot of bets will be focused on Liverpool who are expected to make a flying start at home to West Ham. Not sure what to make of Southampton v Burnley.

In Scotland Rangers will take great delight in climbing above Celtic and they should do so with a comfortable win at home to St Mirren while Johnb's Hibs travel to Greg's St Johnstone.

I've posted a Super Single and Daily Double last night and have added more bets.

For a moneyback fivefold I'm taking the two favourites in the Spanish and German Super Cup clashes. Barcelona beat Sevilla 5-0 in last season's Spanish Cup Final and at around 1-2 are worth taking to win again.

The German game is previewed on the site and is an interesting one as new Bayern boss Niko Kovac faces the Eintracht Frankurt side he led to cup final glory last season. Without Kovac Eintracht could be lost.

I was looking to add side who weren't too short – they include the likes of Liverpool, Rangers, Besiktas, PSG and Lyon. So I'm nicking Young Boys from Greg and Feyenoord from mrorange and I've picked out AZ against promoted Breda.

Both Dutch teams suffered bad Europa League defeats in midweek and will be looking to bounce back with Feyenoord back to something like close strength.

Like many others I see plenty of goals at Anfield and the Emirates and I've added the Super Cup games for an overs fourfold.

Good luck with all of your bets today.

Managed a pretty good profit from Spurs, Villa and Middlesbrough. Ipswich losing to Rotherham stopped it from being a really amazing day as I was really banking on them getting a result. Not a total disaster, definitely had far worse days.

Was avoiding WDW in first week of Premier League as there can be some funny results.

Thanks to Mr F and all the new contributors. Sterling work. My one suggestion would be to ask if the page everyone comments and discusses punts could be stickied to the top of the front page? It gets a bit lost at the mo.

Evening gents mixed bag on Saturday – Had a good lool through all the results and one thing stood out – Albion Robers are in deep deep trouble

Played 7 lost 7 scored 0 conceded 23. The only club in Scotland yet to score a goal this season but there problems go back to last season. They have lost 14 of their last 15 matches and here comes the worst stat I’ve ever seen. One goal in their last 11 matches ?

Get on them to get beat every week and to lose by 3+ goals

They are professional team but with junior level players and management

As you know I’m never usually shy to back against my team but I can’t bring myself to do that tomorrow – Hibs have been bigged up and rightly so bit I don’t think it’s going to be quite as easy as people think.

It’s only the second game of the season and season after season we get results when everyone writes us off. There’s no denying Hibs are rightly favourites for this and I can understand why people are all over Hibs to win and Hibs to score 2, but with a Europa League tie to think about on Thursday Neil Lennon will likely mix things up tomorrow.

We are poor last week but I’m expecting a reaction – i think we’ll
    surprise a few pool tomorrow

On a final note – French Ligue 1 returned today and what a start it was – the 5 games that kicked off at 7pm saw a combined total of 22 goals – Skybet were offering 4/5 for 13+ goals – 4 of the games were over 2.5 (not typical of this league) so keep an eye out for the goal line next Saturday

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

You’re right about Albion Rovers. They deserve to go down for nicking John Cunningham from us – he just about single-handedly kept us up last season. He was the player who scored the cracking solo game when you saw us against Rob Roy. How do you think Saints will fare against Hibs?

Great site. Personally I would prefer only one tip per match. Too much choice as it is. Also have the league experts back.. Or selective league. Especially in the lower divisions. Rather than just club experts. Maybe a thread just for specifically club knowledge able tips.

We asked for anyone to provide a match preview whether they be league experts or club experts – all welcome.
Also we asked not to preview a game if there’s already one posted but sometimes it’s could to get different opinions.
I like to form my opinion and see if there’s an agreement or anything that puts me off.

    Bundesliga 3

13.00 Wurzburger Kickers vs Energie Cottbus.

Energie Cottbus were a powerhouse in the Regionalliga Nordoost last season, winning it simply because they were a goal-scoring machine, they even helped me to significantly reduce my overdraught.
With promotion back to the Bundesliga 3, they have carried on where they have left off, winning 3-0, 0-2 and drawing 2-2 last week. Today they are at rock bottom Wurzburger Kickers who have conceded seven in three games. When E.Cottbus won away, they were 3/1 to score over 1.5 team goals, so don’t be put off by the price, I certainly wasn’t.

Energie Cottbus over 1.5 team goal 2/1

    Arsenal vs Manchester City

    12th August 2018

    Time 18.00 EAT

Defending champion Man City wrap up the opening weekend of English Premiere League with a blockbuster matchup in North London when they take on Arsenal for the first time in 22 years without Arsene Wenger.

    Betting Odds

Gunners opened as 3.70 home underdog moving up to 4.14 draw to 4.03 from 3.81 while City have gone from 2.01 favorite to 1.86

Total is set at 3 with juice moving towards over and on asian handicap City are favorite to cover spread of -0.5

    Prediction

Despite majority on City win and over 3 it won’t surprise to see this game not live up to expectations and as much I would like my Gunners win I’m employing a contrarian view by banking on Under 3.

    Betting Angle

    Under 3 @ 1.98

    • maccathered 6 years ago

    Liverpool / Arsenal > 2.5 MGS Double 6/5
Aubameyang / Firmino a shot on target 6/5 – half stake
Salah / Mane ATGS 21/10 – small stake
Ings ATGS 21/10 – small stake
Barca v Sevilla BTTS & Overs 5/6 – half stake

Can’t see beyond goals at Anfield and the Emirates. Reasonable odds for 2 strikers to have a shot on target. And as for Ings – players do seem to like to score against their old clubs so at over 2/1 worth a small dabble. Fancy a few goals in the Spanish Super cup – the Barca game has seen 15/17 go overs. Will chance Sevilla netting with Umtiti likely to be missing and Barca slightly undercooked. GL all today

The quid free bet fivefold lost by one result (I had Fulham to draw), but had 5pts on recordman on the horses to return 13.13pts.

Banked the 10pts for next week but put 3.13pts on:

    Rangers -1
    Bayern
City to win and over 3.5goals
    Pays a shade under 30pts.

Not much else this early in the season to call but as a West ham fan I’m still tempted by the draw although we are really an unknown entity at the moment with most of our signings likely to start. I hope they gel quickly and we do have a much more balanced squad. Short of a decent DM, which is usually our downfall in games against the top 6.

  19. alva glen 6 years ago

Bet 365 : Place a prematch bet of up to £25 on Arsenal/City and you can match it in play. Ht/ft .City @2/1 for me.£25. Will then see how game is going.

John b, just how much potential do Hearts have?

    • Johnb 6 years ago

Bunch of bruisers who have no intention of playing football which is why they were 11th in the FairPlay league last season and are currently bottom this season, Levein is clueless about the game which is why he goes for that approach and why he goes for players of that ilk,
it was no surprise that they beat Celtic, as I have said previously Celtic are in decline and will be beat a lot more this season unless they strengthen their squad, Hearts could be anywhere between 4th and 7th

It says it all really about their team when Hearts fans describe Uche Ikpeazu as world class

    • recoba 6 years ago

Celtic are in decline John? Yeah since we lost that first domestic game after 69 wins in a row and didn’t go unbeaten this time while winning the treble last season there’s been a few supporters of other teams saying that? Compper the CB everyone keeps saying we need will be like a new signing when fit(he’s got s cracking CV)and we’ve kept the team together while buying Edouard n young Morgan is there too. Also if Dembele could stay fit for any length of time that certainly wouldn’t go a miss. Not saying we couldn’t do with 1 or 2 more but were not in decline…Hibs n RFC have got better and Aberdeen will be up there for a top 3 spot. We probably will get beat more like yesterday having made 6 changes playing away to they bunch of bruisers, might not make the CL too but i can’t see anyway how were getting worse… Yet!
Shall see anyway at the end of what will be an interesting season.

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

Decline isn’t the right word but something’s not right at Celtic Park just now and the news Boyata is refusing to play adds to it.

    • bigpika 6 years ago

Decline. What are you smoking lol back to back trebles and in decline amazing.

    • the stamp collector 6 years ago

Notorious, I’ll give you my take on Hearts this season as your question has developed into a ‘what’s wrong with Celtic’ and slagging Hearts thread.
We’ve moved on from last season , and are playing catch up from the Cathro experiment – don’t forget the place we were in when Neilson left – we’ve recruited wisely (instead of mid season panic buys) in my view and whilst Levein likes his big, bruising target men, (they cause defences problems with their physical presence , take defenders out leaving space for others) they can play others in as part his game plan; just look at the goal yesterday. (I’ve not met/heard anyone calling big Uche as anything other than Hearts class; what he brings to the game for Hearts will cause no end of problems for defences; obviously JohnB doesn’t like him much as he probably brings back haunting memories of a certain Mark de Vries..another 5-1 to remember ?) Experience in Naysmith, Lafferty Hughes and Smith, new recruits in Lee, Garuccii and Haring – bought as a defender, but seems to have found his true role in midfield – plus an excellent youth academy which has developed teenage first team squad players in Cochrane, McDonald, Morrison, Moore, Zanatta, etc (Note Leveins similar role at Dundee Utd and the youth players they produced) and the vibes are positive at the moment.
To often in recent seasons we’ve been bullied about, so yet again we got in Celtics faces yesterday and didn’t allow the Sinclair and Tierneys to play, just as we did ast season. Admittedly good time to play Celtic but regardless of their personel if you sit back and let them pass the ball about they’ll get you eventually. Hibs played very well against them in the 4 games against them last year.
Hearts let down last season was the away record so I expect them to pick up more wins this time ( to score 2+ goals in away fixtures ) and consolidate on their recent home record record where we’ll be very difficult to beat.
I feel there won’t be much too choose between Aberdeen Hibs and ourselves; Kilmarnock will make up the top 6. Rangers have started well and picking up points at Ibrox will be vital, so they have to be our targets, and generally hope that others can ‘take the game’ to Celtic as well as Rangers.

    • derekj1978 6 years ago

You describe players as the Irish messi !
Used to be a guy who tipped up some decent horses and talked rubbish about football. Now your just a guy that talks rubbish football. No horses. Talks about stats and how it’s always a profit. Start counting up the points from now.

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

Calm down – it’s Johnb for sure. No horses because he said he was busy.

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

It’s not a question you should be asking a Hibs fan to be honest.
      I reckon they’ll finish fifth.

    • fraser51 6 years ago

Its like you cant make a bad comment towards Celtic or they take offence

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

I think Celtic fans took exception to the word “decline”.
Until they lose the title they won’t be in decline.
I’d prefer to brand it a mini crisis.

    • bigpika 6 years ago

no offence taken and dont really care what people post. But decline is nonsense when a squad has, dembele, edourd, griffiths, rogic, brown, ntcham, tierney, sinclair forrest etc

After the 2 years we’ve had i’ll take this mini crisis. its be blown way out of proportion

Boyata doesnt won’t to play, thats a bonus imo, only wrong decision we made was not selling him to Fulham last week

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

Looks to me that rival fans are hoping against hope Celtic’s bubble has burst.
I wonder how many Rangers fans went straight to the bookies yesterday to back their team to win the title after seeing Hearts game.

    • jimba 6 years ago

Celtic should have took money for boyata he wouldn’t be missed, fingers crossed for Tuesday. GL ?

    • alva glen 6 years ago

Aye and spent it on McGINN cant believe Celtic stood back there and let him go to VILLA.

    • mr h 6 years ago

Mr F if they did then it adds too the old saying… A fool and their money are easily parted.

Celtic will win the league regardless of new signings or not. Too many folk are predicting a fall from grace before the fall has taken place. The last time I checked Celtic had won 6 consecutive domestic trophies. Not 1 club in the division has a player that would be a first choice pick at Celtic. It’s not arrogance but just the sheer facts of things

    • Johnb 6 years ago

Why is decline the wrong word?, surely with Celtic not playing as well last season as they did in 2016-17 and again this season they are looking like their form has dipped further then decline is the right word, in other words decline is when something gradually gets worse

Same as 2016/17 season 106pts, 2017/18 season 82pts and this season I think they won’t get near 82pts so surely again when that happens that would mean Celtic are in decline

    • bigpika 6 years ago

Who goes unbeaten and wins a treble, that was a completely one off season, to compare any season to that is just plain stupid. we are 2 games into this season, there is no form. won’t get near 82? aye ok you are the expert after all, hows simon murray doing these days?

2 seasons 2 trebles, if decline is only winning 2 this year, i’ll take that no problem

    • recoba 6 years ago

That’s an unbeaten treble winning season your talking about John so not matching it the next season is ‘decline?’
An I did say yourselfs and others have got better and of course at least try and up there game against the Champions, especially the unbeaten treble winning Champs as was the case last year.

Mr H yes Boyata bomb scare can get tae if any of its true. Siminovic is by far better and Compper sounds good on paper.
I was, like him I’m sure very annoyed watching Boyata start ahead of him last year.
Mini crisis cause Rodgers hinted we best buy 9mil players and bit more every season or he would think about his future. Think he was just a touch frustrated when asked about our singings. They may not be done yet and bring on AEK,can see us pulling it off with all this chat hopefully ringing in the players ears after yesterday’s defeat sounding a ‘ mini crisis’

      Gl all

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

I didn’t refer to the defeat by Hearts as a mini crisis.
It’s everything that’s going with Rodgers not being happy, Boyata wanting away and a home CL draw that makes it really difficult to qualify.
If Celtic hadn’t been so successful in the past two years it wouldn’t be anything like a mini crisis.

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

Decline would be not winning the league – you can’t judge a team on 2 games.
One they won and the other they lost with a weakened team.
The points you get at the end of the season don’t matter – it’s where you finish.
Celtic fans will happily take 80pts if it wins the title.

    • recoba 6 years ago

No i know Mr F i meant the things mentioned then a defeat to Hearts wouldn’t help ease any mini crisis.

    • derekj1978 6 years ago

    hi guys,

I can’t find any tips for the Rangers v St Mirren and the St Johnstone v Hibs matches this afternoon, apart from the John B tip which I get directed to from the home page. Maybe thats a sign?
As commented by a few there are a lot of tips from a lot of people now so this may be just teething problems on improvements for a fantastic site, but could some of the regulars possibly just put up some quick thoughts on here regarding the above matches, as an Englishman I do rely on those more up to speed up North?
Many thanks Mr F, admin and alll, and good luck for the rest of the season

Dedryck Boyata effectively gone on strike, he’s a big lump of wood anyway that’s had a decent year in an underwhelming career. Let him rot for 12 months and train on his own. Absolute abomination of a footballer and there’s far too many taking this stance these days.

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

He’s a £9m “lump of wood” so they should take the money and wish him farewell.

My double was downed yesterday with Billericay failing to net twice, the Molinuex goals closed in as expected.

My match preview is up for Arsenal v City and like macca I’m backing goals and giving the advantage go City. But I don’t expect it to be a stroll in the park for them and think it will be a narrow victory if they win at all. BTTS to score and overs is the best bet, the odds are stingy for good reason.

Liverpool have been banging the goals in for fun during preseason and in truth, haven’t really stopped scoring since last summer. West Ham have had a decent preseason but haven’t come up against anything possessing anywhere near the goal threat that Liverpool have.

Liverpool O2.5tgs and Salah to score @21/20

    Liverpool score before 28mins @ 5/6

Feyenoord had an embarrassing game on Thurday losing 4-0 away at Trencin. For this game in the league they have important players back in the squad with Botteghin, Vilhena and Van Persie. All of them will start and they will make some other changes too. De Graafschap won promotion last season and most of their players have never played on Eredivisie level. I think Feyenoord will win.

Southampton v Burnley has draw all over it, so why do I keep looking at Burnleys champagne score and win price ? Can they win this game? Of course they can! Even though they played in the heat of Turkey in midweek they may still be sharper than Saints, so sticking my neck out and pairing them up with Anderlecht who seem to be scoring and conceding with equal aplomb, but still winning.
    Burnley to win BTTS@ 11/1 (Bet 365)
    Anderlecht to win BTTS@ 3/1 (Bet 365)
    2 x 2pt singles, 1pt double
    2pts BTTS Double on these two games @ 5/4 & 7/10 (Bet 365)
Burnley are around 4/1 in most places just for the win and just under evens on the double chance. Could prove to be value. That`s the theory anyway!
Love the site, best of luck to everyone today.

    Morning gents,

After a good week, Saturday proved a poor punting day for me with a small saving grace in SA but ultimately an unhealthy loss.

Sunday sees some cracking looking games and I’ll start with the the more obvious two…

    LIVERPOOL VS. WEST HAM
    ARSENAL VS. CITY

It’s difficult not to hear the goals radar pinging here – both Liverpool and City spent much of last season in beast mode and there’s little to suggest this campaign will be different if not even better.

That’s all well and good but it means the real value has gone from the goal lines so it may pay to double up!

    Two selections to consider:

    OVER 1.5 TGS DOUBLE…0.96/1
    (Bet365)
    ????

    OVER 3.5 MGS DOUBLE…3.5/1
    (Bet365)
    ??

Some tasty looking fixtures in SA later this evening and will post later.

Best of luck today chaps ?

Hoping for goals, Hull, as Ladbrokes free correct score predictor is back ? (was an interesting and welcome feature during World Cup) £5 free bet for 2 correct and £50 for 3 correct. I opted for Wolves 2 v 2 Everton last night? and have Liverpool 3 v 1 Hammers, and 2 v 2 at the Emirates

It’s only two/three games into the Championship season but Leeds Utd are looking a level above everyone else in the league,
Marcelo Bielsa really has them playing some excellent football, I am struggling to see how they can fail to get promoted

    • fraser51 6 years ago

I’ve been impressed, similar to Wolves last season.

    • jimba 6 years ago

Johnb, agree totally, watched both Leeds games and they have been excellent, obviously it’s a long season but it will be interesting to see where they are at the Xmas period.

    • HullShaker 6 years ago

Have to agree – early days yet but they are absolutely flying. Lot of pals who are Leeds die-hards and they haven’t been as happy/confident since the glory days of the late 90’s

    • HullShaker 6 years ago

5/1 for the Title and a very tempting 15/8 for promotion – not cheched Oddschecker so maybe something bigger.

You have only to look at what Bielsa achieved with the Chilean national side and Bilbao who played some of the best European football of the past decade under his tenureship.

    • the stamp collector 6 years ago

They’re looking impressive JohnB, their pressing of Swansea/Derby plus many in support will always lead to goals, potential at both ends too..I almost took them for promotion on ante post by took WBA instead

    • buzzer 6 years ago

Leeds are bottle jobs they will get so far and fade if anyone is gonna get promoted i feel its a toss up between villa and boro

  32. hairyheid 6 years ago

No joy on MLS last night…round of strange results with away teams doing well for a change.

Looking at USPGA golf again tonight, bet365 match-ups:
Mcilroy to beat Lorenzo -Vera 4-7
    Molinari to beat Kisner 7-10
    Double pays 1.67-1

Wheels came off Kisner yesterday and Molinari still moving forward, whilst expect Mcilroy to come out today and shoot decent score after poor 3rd Round and no pressure on…
I’ll be adding into a wee interest acca today, good luck all ?

As usual, on the Norway Eliteserien games again today, all games Over 2.5 mgls.

    This landed 4 weeks ago @ 32/1

Last week was ball-breakingly close, similar odds that saw 7 out of 8 games land – the Kristiansund game finishing 1-1

Often comes close and worth a small stake.

Today there’s 6 games on all starting at 5PM
    Over 2.5 mgls
    22/1

Ha ha. Yes pal always worth a small dabble, love a Norweigan dinner on a Sunday.

First half goals are a good shout too, I’ll stick to the Overs for mine but best of luck with the early goals mate ??⚽️ ?? ?

It’s back to business in a Sunday with a lot of the European leagues back in action – another week and it will be a full card on a Sunday

Some good looking games today –

    ??????? Liverpool v West Ham KO 1.30pm ???????

It’s the clash of the money spenders at Anfield and it should be a cracker. West Ham more than capabale of scoring and we all know how attack minded this Liverpool team is. No thrills here but should see at least 3 goals

    ??Lucerne v Young Boys KO 3 ??

The hosts come into this after a demoralising 4-0 hammering in Greece on Thursday night in the Europa League. Lost 2 of their 3 league games and welcome league leaders Young Boys who are on fire. Was going to go for goals but better price is for the away win

    Liverpool v West Ham over 2.5 ⚽️
    Young Boys to beat Lucerne

    Double pays 13/10 (Ladbrokes) (NAP)

    **************************
?? Dainish 1st Divison has returned and has always been a good league for goals – going to for first half goals in all 6 games at 12.45pm

    Pays 6/1 (Bet365)

Quick tip kicking off in 5 minutes time.
Naestved over 1,5 team goals @2.10
    Nykøbing ditto @1.80

    • philwindy 6 years ago

      Reasoning….
Næstved have started with a win and a draw, as have Nykøbing.
There opponents are both struggling Roskilde have lost both games so far in and leaked 8 goals in those games.

Thisted have a long trip to Naestved. Where the Greens are usually strong on their home patch. They have a Striker in sizzling form 12 goals in 16 games since joining Naestved. If anyone can find him to score anytime his name is Justinussen.

    • philwindy 6 years ago

Poor picks from myself today. Naestved lucky to escape with a point in the dying minute.
Less said about the Nykøbing game the better.

Liverpool game started well for my first half goal line double mind. So fingers crossed there are 2 goals in the first half of the Arsenal vs City game.

Good afternoon all; not been on since end of last season having just joined after being long time follower; had a couple of personal issues to contend with which took priority; work / life / family balance so important these days, back to some sort of normality now?
Good to see usual suspects on and some newbies contributing, as well as the usual banter, especially John B’s ‘world conquering’ Hibs…! their goals have been a welcome addition from a betting point of view, but from a Jambo have to chuckle at latest comments… Put it this way 5/4 for us to finish above above them was a great ante-post price..
On to this afternoon, I’ll keep it simple…

Liverpool to win and >1.5 mgls 1/3
    De Graafschap v Feyenoord >1.5 mgls 2/13
    Morierense v Sporting; Sporting 2+ tgs 8/13
    St J v Hibs BTTS 20/23
Ladbrokes 4 fold plus boost 3.89/1

Agree with previous posts re Feyenoord, Liverpool self explanatory, Recon Greg’s beloved will score but can see Hibs netting at least 1, and Sporting have won 6 and drawn 1 of last 7 agains Mor, and have scored either once or three times.
Good to see Portuguese league Back with a bang with Benfica(3-2) and Porto (5-0); the big 3 plus Braga will be my focal point this season
    Good luck all?⚽️?

  49. Jordan 6 years ago

    Hi lads.

No luck in Switzerland yesterday with Aarau failing to net despite plenty of efforts. Staying in the north of Europe with GAIS heading to Norrby in Sweden. The hosts have lost three straight conceding 2+ in all three. Sitting just outside of the relegation zone they’ll need to start picking up some points. Could be tough against a visiting side that have only lost once in their last nine.

GAIS haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last 12, but I’m slightly worried with Norrby’s attack, only scoring 14 goals which is the second lowest in the league. Half of those have come at home. Decent price on GAIS away from home. Don’t chance the win and go for goals.

Not had chance to do much research and not sure if already posted but Unai Emery has never beaten Pep Guardialo in 10 attempts, has managed 4 draws in there along with 6 defeats. Personally I think Arsenal will improve this season and may prove to be a surprise package but think this one will come too early in season for them. Man city price looks very tempting and will probably become no wins in 11 for Emery vs Guardialo.

Would love to hear @maccathered thoughts on Andy Robertson, playing in a great side but for me he’s up there with the best attacking full backs. Creates endless chances for Liverpool’s forwards and rarely wastes a ball.

    • maccathered 6 years ago

@dynamo absolute brilliant player,if he wins a title this season then he becomes world class for me.

    • HullShaker 6 years ago

He was excellent as a youngster at Dundee before Hull brought him to the KC…watched him a fair few times there and he stood out then – energy levels immense and rarely loses the ball moving forward. As good as anyone in that position the UK.

Tierney and Robertson are 2 great left backs but Robertson is playing in a better league and team.

    • mr h 6 years ago

George Best never played at a World Cup does that make him less of a player than Raheem Sterling? They said the same about Henrik Larsson buddy and he was asgood as they come. Tierney is better than Robertson

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

As a neutral for now Robertson in my opinion is the better player. Tierney may eventually be better but there’s no doubt a move away from Celtic would give him a new challenge and probably improve him.

Four games in the Icelandic Urvalsdeild and it’s two away sides chances that catch my eye…

    KEFLAVIK VS. KA (1900 KO):
    FYLKIR VS. STJARNAN (1900 KO):

The former sees an officially bobbins Keflavik outfit play host to KA Akureyri – a team who’s resilience and ability I wrote about last week and one who have held most of the top sides pretty close whilst rarely failing to find the net.

The latter game see a cracking Stjarnan outfit on their travels again; I won’t trot out the stats but I’d be surprised if they aren’t champions this year after an iffy couple of seasons and ought to be to much for a mediocre Fylkir side.

Really fancy both away sides to dominate proceesings here and both have what it takes to grab a brace:

???????Liverpool v West Ham over 2.5

    ??Young Boys to beat Lucern(3pm)

    (13-10, Ladbrokes) (NAP) WIN ✅

Had a feeling we would give Hibs a game today and that we shouldnt be written off. Everyone is on the Hibs bandwagon but they aint no world beaters.

Expected a reaction from us after last week and with Hibs rotating for Thursday night we had good chance of getting something from the game ??

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

I tipped a draw in the Record – Hibs are good but not amazing.

    • derekj1978 6 years ago

Good point for you Greg, mental that certain individuals think Hibs can win the league!

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

Early night for me and an Early Night Owl sees me making a first foray of the campaign into that goal-mine that is Costa Rica…

UCR VS. SANTOS DE GUÁPILES (2100 KO):

No certainties in betting and the permutations of ‘what can go wrong for a bettor’ are concentrated further with the slightly feral approach to football and refereeing in South (or Central!) America but that’s the risk you take for the potential value in games such as this and I wouldn’t change it for the world!

Neither side have had a great start but it’s goals form we’re looking for here – UCR have seen 4-4-4-3-6-4-3-3 match goals scored in their last consecutive 8 matches and whilst most of these have been against them, the last 4 home fixtures saw them score 8 team goals. But for a 0-4 spanking at the hands of domestic giants Saprissa, that figure may well have been even higher.

As for SDG, it has been an equally miserable start confounded by Copa Libertadores fixtures not going their way and congesting their schedule. Again, the common denominator is goals: 3-3-3-3-3-2-1-4-3-3-6 match goals in the most recent 11 games offers up a slack reflection of defensive capabilities.

Of the two 2018 H2H’s, the most recent finished 1-1 whilst the January fixture finished with 5 goals as SDG thumped UCR 4-1 at home.

I sense we may see a fair bit of action here but can’t recommend anything other than humble stakes given the nature of Costa Rican games and the early stage of the season:

What can we concur after the first Premier League round. My view is this backing the top 5 each week (except Arsenal) may land more often than not this season as the big sides try to keep pace with City. This has been evident as the maximum 5 won this weekend, tough looking set of fixtures next weekend as Man Utd travel to Brighton and Liverpool travel to Palace a week tomorrow and Chelsea face Arsenal.

KA made short work of Keflavik in the 1st half – Stjarnan huffed and puffed but eventually blew the Fylkir house down in the 91st minute for their 2nd goal ?

Mcilroy to beat Lorenzo -Vera 4-7
    Molinari to beat Kisner 7-10

Wheels came off Kisner yesterday and Molinari still moving forward, whilst expect Mcilroy to come out today and shoot decent score after poor 3rd Round and no pressure on…
