IT'S the start of a busy midweek European card with the Liverpool v Napoli match taking pride of place on Tuesday.

Last season there were some remarkable Liverpool ties on the way to the Champions League Final and this could be another great expectation as they chase the win they need to make the last 16.

Spurs head to Barcelona hoping for a miracle and it's likely their fate will be sealed in Italy when Inter beat PSV.

All the Champions League matches are previewed by myself, Scott or kevinmac so check them out.

Elsewhere there are FA Cup replays including Sunderland v Walsall, a Premiership clash featuring Aberdeen v Livingston which will also be previews and a top-of-the-table encounter between Edinburgh City and Peterhead that promises goals – although with City missing seven I'm putting Peterhead draw no bet on a treble with both to score in the FA Cup replay between Sunderland and Walsall and tomorrow's Champions League clash between Shakhtar Donetsk v Lyon.

In English League One Portsmouth can extend their lead at the top over Luton to eight points and I fancy their chances at a best price of 9-10 at Marathonbet.

I'll put up other bets in the morning but starting with a moneyback acca that features Portsmouth and Inter. It was going to be a fivefold but I added Juventus on Wednesday to up the ante.

Well done to any winners last night including HullShaker. My double was a loser but I recommended Richarlison to score on my Everton v Watford preview and also suggested there would be goals while stats pointed to a low scorer.

Check my new mad mental goals post and remember to look at welovebetting for their tips and video chat.

THE UCL takes centre stage tonight but there is an important SPFL match at Pittodrie where my primary focus will be as Aberdeen look get back to winning always against surprise package Livingston

    Aberdeen v Livingston (KO 7.45pm)

If you had said at the start of the season these two would play at Aberdeen in December and you would get 5/6 on the home side, you’d be laughed at but that’s exactly the situation we are in

Aberdeen have had a stop start season so far and surprisingly find themselves behind, Kilmarnock, Livingston and St Johnstone after 15 matches and its the latter who gave them their latest poor result as they went down to Tommy Wrights high flying St Johnstone.

That result came off the back of a fine and rare victory at Ibrox and they went toe to toe with Celtic in the Scottish League cup final, so it was a little bit surprising they went down so easily, that said, they were playing against an inform Saints side.

Its been well publicised Aberdeen have been toothless in front of goal (just 17 goals in 15 games) but at home, Pittodrie has been a tough place for teams to go (Prior to Saturday they have won 5 home games on the spin)

Livingston have had a fantastic return to the SPFL so far and sit in 6tH place with 25 points which is incredible. They wont have many plaudits for the football they play, they are extremely hard working though and very difficult to breakdown, making best use of set pieces.

Their home astro-turf pitch has come in for much criticism but they wont care , 6 wins 2 draws and one defeat against St Johnston is an impressive haul at home, away from home though it’s a different story, just 5 points from their 7 away games and that is concern and it goes to show just how much they benefit from their home comforts of the Toni Macaroni Stadium

Dons Boss Derek McInnes will be looking for a reacting after Saturdays loss an whilst Livi will make them work hard and make life difficult, I’m taking Aberdeen to edge this at what is a very decent price. Sam Cosgrove and Niall McGinn returning to the starting 11 should help

    Recommended Bet

    •Aberdeen to beat Livingston
    •5/6 (Blacktype) (NAP)

    UEFA Champions League

A busy night of fixtures in the last round of the group games and the over 2.5 goals double at Anfield and the Nou Camp pays 11/10 which I’ll be on as Liverpool Host Napoli and Tottenham travel to Barcelona

Its a decent looking card and based on those fixtures I’m taking over 1.5 goals to be scored in all 8 matches, most of these will land with ease, hoping the early kick offs set us up nicely

    Recommended Bets

•Liverpool / Barcelona matches over 2.5 goals double
    •11/10 (Ladbrokes)
    •All 8 UCL games over 1.5 goals
    •7/2 (Skybet)

    • mr h 5 years ago

Couldn’t decide on the Don’s myself Greg, a team that just can’t be trusted just now but as you say Livi are poor on the road. Bit of topic but Livi along with Hamilton and Kilmarnock should use some of the new TV money and install grass pitches. Their playing surfaces are akin too red ash of my primary schooling days…. All that’s missing is a mouldmaster to leave a nice imprint on yer thigh on a cold winter day

    • GregBrowning 5 years ago

Yeah it was one of those ones where I’d be kicking myself at 9.30
Tonight asking why I didn’t back Aberdeen at home at nearly evens against a team who are poor away from home

    • maccathered 5 years ago

Can’t see Liverpool being an overs game Greg it ended 0-1 in Naples and this one should be tight .1-0 2-0 for me,

    • GregBrowning 5 years ago

This difference here though is Liverpool have to win and with that in mind Napoli are a good enough side to score given they are top of the group

    • maccathered 5 years ago

They are good enough to score but you can’t look at a football match of this calibre in that light,do they risk trying to score a goal and get caught out or do they sit and hold out for a draw, knowing they are Italians i would side with the latter.

Can’t decide on Aberdeen tonight. Don’t bet on my team regardless but I just don’t know what we will produce tonight. Lack of creativity is a serious issue probably more than strikers to be honest.

St Johnstone well worth win on Saturday you boys should have had a pen too.

Think we will win, we need to with this being start of 3 games we should really be comfortably winning. Probably 1 – 0 but won’t be pretty that’s for sure.

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Me neither. Read Greg’s preview and get what he says about the price but just not sure about them.

    • GregBrowning 5 years ago

      Three key factors for me

      1) Livingston are really poor away from home ( 5 points from
25 collected) different outfit away from their plastic pitch

      2) Aberdeen were poor against us. I can’t imagine them being as poor two games in a row, especially at home where the have been pretty good this season

      3) Aberdeen really need to win here and I’d expect a reaction from
      Saturday’s defeat.

Few games in my favourite destination 🇮🇹 Seria C Group B this time for what could be another 🎅 gift if stats are anything to go on….

    Teramo v Pordenone Calcio 7:30pm

The home side 14th after 15 games with 3 wins, 7 draws and 5 defeats. They’ve scored 14 and conceded 19…scoring in 10/15 & conceding in 13/15. At home they’ve played 7 scoring in 5 and keeping one clean sheet in a 0-0 draw in their opening home fixture way back in August, their home record reads…..

    0-0,1-1,2-1,2-1,2-2,0-1,2-2…… 5/7 BTTS

The away side sit top of the league with 8 wins, 5 draws and 2 defeats in their opening 15 games. They’ve scored 22 and conceded 15….theyve scored in 14/15 & conceded in 12/15. Away from home they’ve played 7 and scored in all 7 while conceding in 6/7. Away results…..

    2-1,2-2,1-1,2-1,2-2,2-0,1-1….6/7 BTTS

Given both teams scoring records home & away respectively I was delighted too see BTTS priced up at 1/1 and that’s my nap today

Teramo v Pordenone Calcio BTTS 1/1 NAP

Delve a little further and see that Teramo have drawn 4/7 at home while Pordenone Calcio have drawn 4/7 on the road. The score draw pays 15/4 but with 7/8 above mentioned draws being either 1-1/2-2 then it’s best too follow 1-1 @5/1 & 2-2 @16/1 if you fancy writing off the goalless draw & 3-3 or above.

    Lower stakes….

    Correct Score 1-1 5/1
    Correct Score 2-2 16/1

    Liverpool v Napoli
Liverpool to win and under 3.5 goals at 7/4*****(NAP)

    • newts68 5 years ago

      Hey up there @maccathered
Respect your opinions on football macca particularly on Liverpool but I think you’ve got this wrong pal, suppose it depends on how Klippoty approaches it.
Liverpool at Anfield on Eurooean nights are unstoppable in full flow and I honestly think it’s the only way you qualify, with the you score two we score three mentality.
It doesn’t suit Liverpool playing cautiously and with you needing to win by two if Napoli score, which I think they will it would be suicidal to play cautiously and concede, particularly if they score first.
For me Liverpool have to start at 100 miles an hour and blow them away which is why I don’t see an under 3.5 goal line.
I’d say good luck macca but I’m a Manc so I can’t. The best your getting is a wink 😉

    • maccathered 5 years ago

I can see where you are coming from but Liverpool don’t play or need to play that style anymore,If you look at the Premier league their game has changed and this was talked about on skysports last night.Liverpool are now more efficient and tight defensively so do not need to go gung ho.The reverse fixture should tell you how tight this game will be.I stand by 1-0 or 2-0

    • wasclueless 5 years ago

thought it was a really interesting piece of analysis on Liverpool on MNF … and how Klopp has adapted his tactics …

    • maccathered 5 years ago

Yeah it was wc.Everyone said Klopp didnt have a plan b.He has proved everyone wrong.

Top 2 meet today for the first time this season and it looks like a cracker for goals lovers. Al sadd 14 league games have seen 75 goals, al duhails 14 have seen 46. That’s averages over 5 and 3. Usually when the top sides in any league meet it can be a tight cagey affair- not these 2. Last 10 h2h have seen a whopping 49 goals, and every single one of those has seen btts/over 2.5 goals. Bit short for me as a single (4/6 bet 365) so I’m going for the btts/over 3.5 mgs which has landed in 7 out of the aforementioned 10 fixtures. Al sadd home fixtures this season have seen them net 10,1,4,3,5,1,7 and I expect them to bag the lions share today if team goals is your thing. Couple of smaller stakes bets I like here are the btts both halves market and 2nd half most goals markets.
    Suggested bets
    Btts/3.5 mgs 6/5, 2pts
    2nd half most goals 10/11, 1.1 pts
    Btts both halves 15/2, 0.4pts

William collum referee in charge of red star v psg. Serbs being at home have pushed teams and I don’t think they will roll over. PSG play dirty too and bet365 have card line set at 4.5 cards but skybet have 40 or more booking points so 4 or more cards shown at 1.91 which I think is cracking value. My NAP for tonight.

    Morning gents,

Just writing up this evening’s selections and came across this one for any midday punters – Israeli Youth League and possibly a few goals…

HAPOEL KIRYAT ONO U19 VS. HAKOACH RAMAT GAN U19 (1200 KO):

The hosts last 4 games have seen 4-7-3-3-4 match goals whilst Hakoach’s most recent 17 have featured 2-3-5-1-5-1-9-3-3-2-6-5-5-7!

Small stakes but worth a look:

    OVER 3.5 MATCH GOALS…10/11

    Morning gents,

Been a good couple of days and I have to say, Cup Fever has gotten the better of me today – I just can’t resist two massive ties on what will be a memorable night of Cup action – non of that tin-pot Champions League mind…

    ROCHDALE VS. OLDHAM (1900 KO):

As you drop down on the M62 through the mist and gloom that hangs over Saddleworth Moor, the returning Lancastrian will see gods own county laid out before him – but beware, there are places we mustn’t speak of.

Cast your eyes right and you will see Rochdale splayed out like a concrete Mordor forever coated in a fine drizzle and the acrid stench of poverty and pies hanging in the air.

This evening’s game sees neighbouring team Oldham dragging their ragged fans from their rain-soaked hovels for the short march northwards as each set of supporters converge on Spotlands like a reunion from Middle Earth.

After last weeks postponement, the winners now know they will play City’s U21 outfit in the next leg and although neither side are setting the world alight, there’s local pride at stake and it will be a tasty atmosphere.

H2H’s between these two are rarely big scorers and that’s certainly the case when played in ‘Dale – there has been just 1 solitary goal in the last 3 with 0-0, 1-0, 0-0 scorelines to reflect the gloom.

Whilst ‘unders’ may be a market to consider, I just cannot bring myself to back it – instead, I’m taking two different routes, one of which has served me well down the years with Lancashire derbies.

Look back through the H2H’s and focus on games at Spotlands and there’s a cracking little picture that emerges and reflects the atmosphere surrounding this derby – in the last consecutive five games, there have been 6-3-8-5 and 6 cards shown by the ref…not a bad tally at all and I reckon this could follow suit but absolutely zero card markets currently available.

The second bet I fancy is for an Oldham away goal – they are certainly in the better vein of form – don’t be duped by the different league ‘classes’ – it’s highly likely Rochdale will drop into League Two come the end of the season.

Oldham have been terrific on the road having scored 2-2-1-2-0-2-1-4 in their most recent 8 away days and the goal time looks to offer plenty of appeal against a ‘Dale outfit who have kept just 2 clean sheets in 10.

    Two selections:

    OLDHAM GOAL BEFORE 64:00…5/6
    (Bet365)
    🌟🌟🌟

    *POSSIBLE CARD BET TO FOLLOW

    ****************************************

    BELPER TOWN VS. GRESLEY:

Northern League Challenge Cup action hailing from deepest, darkest Derbyshire here and it’s a game that could well see goals!

These two last met in August with Gresley snatching an away win by the odd goal in 5 at Chrischurch Meadow but their recent form has taken a bit of a battering: losses of 0-4, 4-1, 2-3 and a 2-2 draw have seen them slide down to 12th spot with the joint worst g/d in the division at -19.

Belper’s own form is better but not fantastic – it is, however, full of goals at both ends – the most recent 7 games have seen scorelines of 2-1, 2-1, 1-3, 2-1, 2-1, 0-2 and 3-1.

Low stakes for this one but could be worth a look:

Porto are already through to the next stage as group winners and are expected to rotate heavily while Galatasaray are fighting it out with Lokomotiv Moscow (who face Schalke) for a Europa League spot. Galatasaray have surpassed tonight’s 6.5 multi corner line in both of their home matches so far with counts of 9 & 10 against Schalke and Lokomotiv Moscow respectively so they should be able to repeat that feat against a weakened Porto side with a major focus on getting into the Europa League.

    Mario Rui Booked 11/8
See a few have mentioned cards at Anfield … will see if Rui gets one – 3 yellows and a red in Serie A. 2 yellows in the CL both on the road at Belgrade and Paris. Think he plays LB so may be battling Salah … Ref is the Slovenian Skomina. Experienced – but has dished out 10 yellows in 2 CL games this season.

    Tuesday goals tip
like the look of this btts treble. as macca has pointed out, yes Liverpool are much more adept at defending and the last game was really tight and cagey, but the facts are Liverpool very rarely keep clean sheets home or away against the top top European sides. Ditto for barca, who will be up against a very hungry spurs team who know they probably have to win to go thru. last pick is Edinburgh (last 5 of 6) against Peterhead (last 5 of 8)
    suggested bet btts

Don’t think this has been covered above…
Touch of value with Galatasary cards v Porto
Galatasary have had 3+ cards in 4 out of 5 champs lge games so far, they will be looking for a result to guarantee Europa league next year against a Porto not needing anything but that could frustrate the life out of anyone…
Paddypower offering 6-4 for Galatasary over 20 booking points.
I’ll add to the red star v psg over 30 booking points at 4-5 (covered by a few on the site)
    Double pays 7-2 (Paddypower)

Is there a market for jurgen (Brendan) klopp to leave Liverpool without winning a trophy.
If they fail tonight, it’s thursday/sunday football after and that could scupper their league bid.
It they win nowt this season surely he has to go given their budget and a 3rd season with no trophy and would have the same trophy count as the aforementioned Brendan, nil.

For the record I expect them to qualify, 2-0 or 3-1, but the above is possible future shenanigans in the event of no trophy return for klopp.

    • maccathered 5 years ago

So what if he wins the Premier league,Europa league,F.a cup is he still deemed a failure.

Feyenoord v Fortuna Sittard – Sunday

Market have just been up and I think it will shorten during the week. Expect one way traffic again.
This season in home games against bottom half opposition Feyenoord had 10,14,7,12,13 team corners.

The line for Feyenoord corners is set at over 7.5 corners. That is a bet for me @ 1.96 with Unibet

    Welsh Cup
Flint Town United v Bala Town

Game rearranged from Saturday night following a floodlight failure. Flint are a second-tier side taking on Welsh Premier high flyers Bala.

The teams have met twice before, also in cup competition:

    02/10/2018 Flint 1-6 Bala
    06/09/2016 Flint 1-5 Bala

For what it’s worth, Bala were also 1-0 up when the lights went out on Saturday, at which point the game was only 5 minutes old.
