I THINK it was cockerspaniel who said “no damage done” and that was my feeling too after what I warned was a difficult card.

Most of the big guns won – the likes of Man United, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Rangers – but there weren't many obvious choices.

I had two winners – a 23-10 Top Treble and 4-1 both to score treble – while the moneyback acca returned the stake with four out of five.

On the VIP tips it was case of close but no cigar with most of the long shots including two draws out of four and two one-goal wins.

My only losers were the Watford draw no bet Super Single and Scottish both to score treble.

Well done to all the winners and there were plenty.

Sunday sees Wolves v Burnley and Everton v West Ham in the Premiership and big games on the continent so plenty to look at.

Fancy Wolves but they're a bit short against a side who desperately needed the international break after playing 10 games while Everton have injury problems and will be without banned striker Richarlison who netted two on his Brazil debut last week.

The mother-in-law passed away last night – and thanks to everyone for the messages of condolence – after an illness so not much from me too. Putting up another moneyback fivefold after yesterday's stake was refunded and an overs double.

The overs double is games at Juventus v Sassuolo and Heerenveen v Heracles. Juve have netted 16 in five at home at Sassuolo but that includes a seven, four and three. Sassuolo's last two have featured 12 goals so should go overs with both sides possibly contributing.

The Dutch game is based mainly on form although the last two have seen btts and one overs. Heerenveen's last four have produced 17 goals with both scoring in all of them while Heracles' previous four have totalled 18.

The accumulator features short-priced Juve as well Lazio who are a shade odds-on at Empoli. Lazio are the one of the five I'd worry about most. They started the season with defeats to Juventus and Napoli but got off the mark with a 1-0 win against Frosimone and last season were superb on the road. Empoli won their only home game against Cagliari but have taken just one point form away games at Chievo and Genoa.

Werder Bremen are unbeaten in 14 at home and should be promoted Nurnberg who have one point from their first two games.

Marseille have won four out of five against Guingamp who are rock bottom with no points and Sevilla should make it five home wins in a row against Getafe who have conceded 12 in those match-ups.

*2pts Moneyback Fivefold

  • Lazio (5pm)
  • Juventus (2pm)
  • Werder Bremen (2.30pm)
  • Marseille (8pm)
  • Sevilla (7.45pm)
  • (7-1, McBookie)

*Stake back as free bet for 1 wrong

2pts Over 2.5 Goals Double

  • Juventus v Sassuolo
  • Heerenveen v Heracles (1.30pm)
  • (7-5, Ladbrokes)

Sorry to hear Paul. Never worry about tips when that has happened. We will get by just fine. You take your time ??

My evens tip tomorrow is a 1/2 and a 1/3 in the form off over 8 corners at Everton 1/2 and either team to win in Bordeaux. No draw at 1/3
    Pays 1/1 exact

•Personally feel Everton v Ham will Be very open and attacking and the prices and lines for corners are very generous in my opinion and over 10 at 11/8 and 5/4 various is quite generious tbh and again lasts 90 mins with both teams playing for you.

•Nimes are doing ok in top flight and scored 9 for 9 but noticeable only 2 draws in 10 games
    Bordeaux last 5 home
    Games. No draw
Nimes last 5 away games. No draw

Again I’m Happy to justify these selections as my nap and hence the strength of the choice. Let’s hope.

Best of luck to all members of the forum

Sorry for your loss Paul, my condolences to you and your family.

On the betting front, I really need to start taking it more seriously. Stake 8.50 on 7 different accas. Ended up £5 up despite landing 19 out of 24 selections (all selections over 4/6 and some as big as 5/1).

Really frustrating when you don’t have much money to invest and you think, if only I had a tenner on all of them as singles. Would have been going on holiday instead of buying a beer.

Oh well, and Sunday’s card is rotten!

    Posted on yesterdays thread.

Haven’t posted in many a month but been banking some lovely profit thanks to the regulars.

Normally have a tip or two for down under in the A League here in Oz but few weeks to go before kick off.

Heading to the states this morning for a northern hemisphere night owl but a Aussie early bird.
    Over 2.5mgs treble pays $2.93

    Salt Lake v Minnesota
    Vancouver v seattle
    Toronto v galaxy

Toronto v galaxy match- last 5 H2H with galaxy have produced over 2.5 goals on 4 occasions with toronto contending 11 in last 5 and galaxy conceding 16 in last 5 so defences a tad shonky to say the least.

Salt lake have scored 6 goals in the both of their last two matches home and away. Nuff said.

Vancouver v Seattle. These teams have seen 38 goals combined in last 10 matches although the head to head puts some doubt as only 1 has gone overs. However I’m willing to take a chance that this will see both teams score and go over 2.5

    Good luck

Sorry for your loss, Mr F :(

On the betting front for the game at Molineux I fancy Wolves to make it a miserable afternoon for Burnley. I’ve seen Burnley a couple of times this season and Wolves will be keen to put on an attacking display here. No disrespect to Burnley but these are the games you need to be winning at home. The danger for Wolves are the ex players in Burnley’s ranks who could come back to haunt us. Nonetheless I’m backing Wolves to get in amongst Burnley early on and win the game by 2 or 3.

    Wolves to win, 3/4, Various

    HT/FT – Wolves, Wolves, 9/5, Ladbrokes

Wolves win to nil, 13/8, Bet Victor

    Wolves -1, 2/1, Various

Over 1.5 goals, 5+ Wolves corners, 3+ Burnley corners and 10+ booking its each team, 5/2, SkyBet

Poor yesterday with 2 BTTS & Overs being just BTTS – a hard card again today so will pick another BTTS & Overs! – main effort will be in Denmark with a top to the table clash – 8 out of last 9 fixtures have seen BTTS & Overs.
Midtjylland V Copenhagen BTTS & Overs Evens – main bet
Shangdong Luneng > 1.5 TGS, > 7 Match Corners, Tardelli ATGS 11/10 – quarter stake
Will save my pennies for what looks some decent CL games in midweek.

    Condolences Mr F.

    Double for me today
    FCK DC +
    Feyenoord DC @2.14

FCK are my favourites to take the Danish title this season, they face last year’s champions but FCK have started strong and recruited will and look the better squad/team.
Midtjylland are no slouch’s but are not defensively solid and FCK will be looking to remain top of the league by avoiding defeat.

Feyenoord travel to AZ and have a superb record against AZ. Winning the last 8 encounters scoring 2+ in all. They have scored 3+ in there last 3 games and seem to be in great form.

I will also take a small stakes chance on the O1,5 teams goals double @3.85

I had small comfort in the shape of two Brasilians last night but aside from that it was an absolute honker of a day.

Having spent the night thrashing myself with a large stick, I’m ready to go again and will be welcoming tge Urvalsdeild back with open arms…

    KR VS. KEFLAVÍK (1500 KO):

I’m all over KR here as they play host to a Keflavik outfit who I’ve flagged as whipping boys since week 2 of the campaign; leading up to the break they confirmed their status as such with a stonking run of 21 games without a win in all competition.

They have played 19 league games thus far and have amassed a whopping points haul of 4 and a g/d of -29…a figure twice as low as their nearest team Fljolnir with -14.

KR are looking more like the team of old and currently sit 4th with their home form particularly strong – results prior to the break included a 4-1 win over IBV, 2-0 defeat of Grindavik and a most impressive 1-0 victory over top side Stjarnan.

H2H’s illustrate my interest in this one even more; tracking back over the 13 meetings in a 6 season spell, KR have won every single game whilst conceding in just 23% of those matches.

54% of the above H2H’s saw KR netting a minimum of 3 team goals with 80% of the most recent 5 games between the two seeing KR net 4 or more times!

Whilst the h/cap tempts, it’s so easy to get burnt by the away goal if it comes so I’m targetting team goals which look to offer the best value:

    KR OVER 2.5 TGS…4/5
    (Bet365)
    ?????

    KR OVER 3.5 TGS…2/1
    (Bet365)
    ??

    Best of luck ?

After watching Hearts beat Celtic 1-0, I said to my mates that the big forward Ikpeasa (?) would do a lot of damage in the league this season, I think k it will be crucial for Hearts that he doesn’t get injured/ too many bookings, ref cards!!

    • the stamp collector 6 years ago

He’s already been marked by refs, lossie, and was booked unfairly yesterday, I believe. 2/3 experienced defenders on him will frustrate him so needs to keep the head..will continue to cause probs, and get the odd goal which is all Levein is asking for.

Know how you feel Hull; I ended up £1.80 up yesterday…! Couldn’t work Rotherham going ahead in my favour to cover, plus no one saw the QoS match as being goalless..only consolation for me was a Hearts Hibs double, which was a last gasp effort before kick off when I got reception up Ben Vorlich..!!

    Yesterday,afternoon lines for me

4 fourfold for me, lowish stake 1 point (=£5)
    AZ Alkmaar match >2.5mgls
    Utrecht match >1.5mgls
    Wolves v Burnley BTTS
    Everton v West Ham BTTS

    4.5 /1 Ladbrokes

    Incidentally…
Hearts to win Scottish premiership 20/1
Hearts to win without Celtic 5/1.

Don’t worry, not going to adopt the JohnB approach….
but who says we (or Hibs, or Aberdeen, or The Rangers ?) can’t do a Leicester…?! Hearts have built up a decent squad, got decent cover in all areas, (expecting to sign Sean Clare from Sheffield Wed and a tall Czech striker is coming in January) arent dominating games but winning and the Killie/Motherwell away wins were ground out without playing our best but having chances to score more; real test will be games at Ibrox Easter Road Pittodrie and Celtic Park but should hold no fears..adopting the way we’ve played against Celtic recently is the attitude all teams should have..I know it’s still early days but I think we’re in for a very competitive season at the top don’t think there’s a better chance for having a go against Celtic..

Lastly I’m going to do weekly doubles on Hearts win/ Hibs >2.5 mgls and Hibs win, Hearts>2.5mgls, and keep a wee log on how this does..level stakes each week, apart from when they play each other. If only one of their games is on then single bets , TBC at the time.

    Good luck all today??

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

Cheers for all the messages everyone.
Re Hearts the big test will come in a couple of weeks at Ibrox but it’s asking a lot for them to keep the run going and even do a Leicester.

    • the stamp collector 6 years ago

I kno Paul, Hearts have a dismal record at Ibrox and Celtic Park historically, regardless of how good our form has been, so huge game at Ibrox in terms of seeing how far we’ve come.

Even under the mad vlad days with Burley leaving after winning our first 8 games in 05/06 we let Celtic catch up and overtake prior to match about Christmas time that season (2-0 up at Tynecastle and Celtic won 3-2) so consistency , keeping discipline and injury free, and that bit of luck needed..

Sorry to hear of your loss Paul, having lost my mother to cancer last November, I know how you are feeling at this time. I know you won’t be feeling that way at the moment, although lost one’s are always in your thoughts, time is a great healer.

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

I think it’s harder losing your own mother – this is a tougher for my wife and her family who also lost her dad at Christmas last year.

    • oz777 6 years ago

Neither of my parents reached 65 Paul, and both went within a short time of each other.
That was 24 years ago, and it never gets easier.
The ONE thing that sticks in my mind around that time, was a conversation I overheard from my young brother, who was talking to a mate of mine, that HE had met for the first time just that day.
My brother was 27 at the time, and married with kids.
I heard him say to my mate, ‘People don’t get me when I tell them that I’m an orphan.’
While his older siblings where dealing with losing their parents, and getting on with our day to day lives, we neglected the baby of the family, and didn’t realise he needed more comforting than the rest of us.
It taught us all that even though we might think everyone is coping, it’s ALWAYS better to make sure.

Looking ahead to thursday night, Rangers are best priced 11/1 to win at Villarreal but are also 10/1 dnb with bet365. Everywhere else is 7/1 or 13/2

Priced incorrectly so good value there.

    • maccathered 6 years ago

@fraser51 i don’t want to sound abrupt here mate but Rangers haven’t got a cat in hells chance of getting a result against el submarine.Villareal is one of the toughest grounds to visit for any team and that includes the top premier league sides,i will be on Villareal -1.5 asian for that game personally. There is no value taking Rangers whatsoever way out their depth here.

    • fraser51 6 years ago

I agree but 11/1 for the win so 10/1 dnb is value

Villarreal have won today but up to this point they had a terrible start to the season. Dont know any team news from them but europa league so could rest a couple of key players.

      Stranger things have happened

    • maccathered 6 years ago

Yeah,it would take one hell of an effort to get anything from there,a draw would be a remarkable result imo,i remember going to watch Liverpool there and to say it was a tough game was an understatement, having said that we then thrashed them at home.It really will be tough for Rangers.

    • bobreaksbookies 6 years ago

I was surprised to see them as short as 1/4 to win. While I agree that it would take a really huge performance for Rangers to win, a quick check of Villareal’s home record in the Europa League over the last two seasons is revealing.

Villareal have actually lost 4 of their last 7 home EL matches, including matches against Osmanlispor and Macabbi Tel Aviv as well as Lyon and Roma. Those first 2 are hardly European heavyweights and surely gives Rangers a degree of hope going into this match.

Villareal has won by more than 1 goal in only 2 0f their last 20 matches at home while they have actually lost 9 of their last 20 at home since November 2017.

If they had a strong home record, it doesn’t seem to be evident in recent months or indeed in their last 2 European campaigns.

Remember, football is a game of opinions and surprises.

Really sorry to hear your of your news Paul – thoughts with you all :(

    Sogndal v Ullensaker / Kisa (KO 5pm)

4th host 5th in this Division 1 encounter and one thing both sides have seen plenty of in recent weeks is goals, lots of goals. Sogndal have seen 23 goals scored in their last 5 matche (6/1/5/7/4) 13 scored 10 conceded. They certainly have been entertaining to watch at home recently (5-1 2-3 3-4) and whilst they don’t seem to have any problems scoring, they are a disaster defensively.

They welcome a side who have also seen plenty of goals at both ends and like Sogndal, have seen 23 goals in their last 5 matches (1-1 5-3 3-2 2-3 3-0). There can’t be too many sides who’s last 6 away matches have yielded 29 goals (5 of those games saw 5 or more goals scored).

We have two sides who’s gung-ho mentality should ensure we see both on the scoresheet and another high scoring match. 3/5 over 2.5 goals is decent value but going for over 3.5 goals

    •Back Over 3.5 goals
    •117/100 (Marathonbet) (NAP

There are 5 top flight matches in Norway kicking off at 5pm – will be on early goal bets in all 5 (goal before 10 mins and goal before 30 mins)

I’m avoiding the Over 1.5 market this week as it’s poor odds – a little over 2/1. However do rate this as an in-play 6-Fold – odds will shoot up if no early goals after 10-15 mins so I’ll be on O1.5 mgls in play.

  75. HullShaker 6 years ago

There was f*ck all regal about my Bolivian pick last night as leaders Royal Pari decided to switch off to the weakest team in the division but I’m not giving up on my favourite South American league that easily.

Instead, I’m heading to the Estadio Olímpico Patria in Sucre where there’s a game I’m sweet as hell on…

CLUB UNIVERSITARIO VS. WILSTERMANN (2000 KO):

The Mighty Wilstermann are back in action and although their general away form isn’t as prolific as it is at home, they have picked the pace back up after a disappointing start having won 4 of their last 6 including 1 draw and just 1 loss…and that away to Bolivar.

Anyhow, it’s not so much the team form I’m interested in here – what draws me in is the goal-form and potential for a decent scoreline: over their last 25 games, CUdS have conceded just shy of 2 goals per match whilst Jorge have scored an average of 2.4 over a 30 game spell.

H2H’s have been crackers over recent years and at one time was
my go-to Bolivian match for goals in the notebook – it may have been slightly less spectacular recently but it’s still not too shabby with the last 30 successive meetings seeing 7-2-3-6-2-1-4-5-4-6-3-8-4-3-1-3-2-3-2-6-3-1-1-6-3-4-2-2-4-8 match goals.

    Three selections worth considering:

    OVER 1.5 WILSTERMANN GOALS…5/6
    (Bet365)
    ????

    OVER 3.5 MGS…11/8
    (Bet365)
    ???

    Best of luck ?

No draw

    *DESTROYED*

  89. HullShaker 6 years ago

Early night tonight so I’ll not be following in-play but going for a low stake bet with a difference for the Night Owl…

CARMELITA VS. DEPORTIVO SAPRISSA (2200 KO):

El Monstruo Murado are topping the Costa Rican table (once again!) but they are going about their business with some low-key scorelines so I’ll be leaving goals well alone here.

Aside from Valur in Iceland, they are probably the only team I back with any regularity for corners – although I haven’t done so in a while, they have the capacity to rack up some big counts on the corner markets and this match could go the same way.

    One selection to consider:

    OVER 15 MATCH CORNERS…10/1
    (Bet365)
