ON Wednesday there was only one game for me to look at and on Thursday there are two before we're swamped with Friday fixtures.

The UK card is composed of Blackburn v Bradford and Gillingham v MK Dons in League One although in Portugal it's Aves v Setubal.

And for fans of Scandinavian football there are plenty of games in Denmark and Finland.

I might look at coming up with a double or treble or it could be a golf bet or a no-bet day.

Greg's tip for 2-3 goals at St Johnstone v Hamilton was a loser despite his Saints side netting in five minutes. I fancied btts but not confidently enough to post although if I had it could have been covered with that early strike.

Well done to anyone who posted a winner – there were teams mentioned I'd never heard of any others that looked made up.

And what about new tennis expert Alves with his cracking 22-1 RAB. Can't wait to see his Wimbledon tips – they're playing on Friday.

Talking of Friday I've picked out a few bets and I've decided to put up a Top Treble starting with Blackburn tonight and adding Cardiff and Derby.

Rovers will go top with a victory while Bradford have lost their way and face missing out on the play-offs after a horror run. That ended on Sunday with a 1-0 defeat of Gillingham but prior to that City had lost three in a row without scoring and also went down at home to Blackburn earlier in the season.

Cardiff and Wolves look likely to finish in the top two and the Welsh side can move eight points clear of Fulham by beating second-bottom Burton at home. Cardiff have won six in a row and face a side with one goal in five – has to be a home.

I'm putting faith in Derby who are in danger of missing out on the top six after picking up just three points in 18. I always like to hear Nathan's thoughts on his team but even he must be confident they'll beat sinking Sunderland who are five points away from safety.

Sunderland have failed to net in three, losing them all, and Derby must see this as a great chance to get back on track after the international break. Derby is the last leg of the treble so if the first two win there will be chance to cover if you have less confidence in them.

Two games that hold interest today; one I’m awaiting prices on – the other I’ll take an early price that I’d expect to drop…

The former involves Shaw Lane again as they take on their 7th game in 2 weeks – Altrincham thumped them but a home fixture against bottom side Sutton Coldfield could be the perfect antitode and remedy for the new managerial team – goals may well be the way here and I’ll be keeping a lookout for early markets.

The latter game hails from Paraguay and I’m taking a rare WDW pick:

INDEPENDIENTE FBC VS. LIBERTAD (2300 KO):

Libertad have historically been the better side and are one of the ‘forces’ in the Primera – Independiente are seeing a sound start but have failed in their bid to beat the visitors in any of the last 6 H2H’s…I reckon that run may well continue later this evening.

365 offer 4/5 for a Libertad win so I’m all over William Hills price:

    LIBERTAD WIN…EVENS
    ⭐⭐⭐⭐

    Best of luck.

    Derby v Sunderland early thoughts:

I’ll just summarise on the cancelled game at home to Cardiff before the international. It has been investigated by the EFL and they’re taking no action but did say better communication could of been put in place. I’d say it was a ” get out of jail free card ” for the rams and Neil Warnock is angry about it. I’d say he has every reason to be, a heated pitch, roads in Derby gritted, the surrounding walkways around the stadium clear, but a few stewards absent because of weather problems. Cardiff lost the chance to really lay into the rams because according to Gary Rowett, we only had 10 first team players turn up for training 2 days before that Sunday. I think the cancellation for Derby was a cop-out, and whilst we’ve been relatively lucky this season with injuries, we were ripe for the plucking last week and Warnock knows it. IF Cardiff fail to beat the rams in 3 weeks and they don’t get auto-promotion ( I don’t think they will because of Fulhams fixture list ) – then Warnock will not drop this – much like his Sheff Utd relegation courtesy of West Ham fielding Teves and Mascherano – both tied to three way ownership – banned by the FA. Sheff Utd did get £12 mill out of West Ham though.

Fridays game is huge for both Derby and Sunderland. I’ll summarise Sunderland first: They’ve been the whipping boys of the league since very early on and this reverse fixture saw Sunderland earn a 1-1 with the Rams. They’re struggling to put down enough quality on match day to get the 3 points and you have to go back 10 games since their last win. they’re 5 pts from safety, nailed to the bottom of the championship. I saw the youtube video before Christmas of the Sunderland player being confronted in a pub a few days before a match, he was clearly “persisted” and duly obliged his own fans with a drunken berating of his fellow team mates. That never went down well with everyone linked with the club and the bad results just keep coming for them. I don’t think its a case of if, but when they get relegated this season. I just do not think they have anyway near the amount of quality players in their ranks to keep them up. Its been like that all season. Sometimes though, a club that has its back against the wall with games running out have it in them to upset the form books and get a few surprising results. I do not think they’ll get 3 points from Pride park though, so I expect their nightmare will continue.

Derby: Around the time of the Cardiff cancelled match, Rowett said that after the international break, we should have practically a full squad to choose from. We’ve had George Thorne, Johnson, Vydra and Nugent all out and the only defensive midfielder we had fit enough was Huddlestone. He got 2 yellows against Forest, 1 of which was a joke, but yellows cannot be appealed, so he will be absent from the line-up on Friday. We’ve really missed Vydra up front for 3 or 4 games and he should be up and raring to go. Derby do have the attacking options to beat Sunderland and I do think even with a half fit squad, we should be brushing Sunderland aside. I have no news yet on team fitness, but i’m anticipating Thorne/Johnson/Vydra and Nugent should be ready and available. You’ll have to look back 7 games for the last Derby win – Brentford 3 nil at home. Damn it seems a distant memory. I’m looking at this season and thinking ” Deja-deja-deja-deja vue “, 4 straight seasons and the Derby team thinks the league ends on January the 1st. 3 months back and we were 2nd with a slight chance of catching Wolves. Now, we’re in 5th and given that we have to play 4 of the remaining top 6 – so 4 of 5 before the season ends, i’d say we possibly have the worst run of games in the top 6 to come.
Ignoring the results and clean sheets, Derby have not really been putting down any decent football right back to November. I think a convincing win against Villa is our only decent game. The rest, we’ve been very luck to get the points and clean sheets that we had – including the 2nd half of our purple patch. I personally think we’ve been steadily losing our quality on the pitch for 5 months now, not 3. With teams as low down as 10th all capable of getting into the top 6 and our run of games, we are in lots of danger of finishing 8th, 9th or even 10th this season.

Derby MUST stop the rot, and if we cannot beat Sunderland with home advantage and virtually a full squad to choose from, then we deserve to be out of the playoffs. What more motivation do the Derby team need other than seeing who we are yet to face between now AND May?

If Derby get their act together, we could really have a strong finish to the league campaign but with few signs of late to indicate we’d do that, I don’t think we will. Stats don’t lie !!

I’m about 70% certain of a Rams victory and around 30% a draw. Not confident to tip a clean sheet or a handicap because right now, Derby JUST need to get a win. A 95th minute 1 nil would do us just fine, but at odds of just 8/13 with betfair, there really isn’t much meat on the bone. Vydra has been absent fro the last 3 or 4 matches and he really is due a goal or 2.

As soon as I get more news, i’ll share.

Thisted v Fredericia 3 Asian Goal Line Evens – half stake
For me looks decent for goals. BTTS & Overs is about the same price. Last 3 H2Hs have seen 4,4 7 6 Goals. Since the winter break games competitive games involving the two sides have seen 0,5,3,6,6,0 goals. Half stake as know zip about the sides and league can be hit and miss!
    GL all today!

2 aussie games i like the look of for goals this morning:

Bentleigh greens v Box hill united
Adelaide blue eagles v White city

    Over 2.5mgs double is 0.92/1

Looking forward to the return of proper football over the easter weekend

    Night Owls…

    CRB VS. TREZE (2300 KO):

CRB won the most recent H2H 1-2 away from home around 10 weeks ago – not a bad price for goals and they certainly have the capacity to cover it themselves.

    OVER 2.5 MGS…4/5
    ⭐⭐⭐

    ***WON***

NACIONAL AC MG VS. SOCIAL (0015 KO):

Goals looking a touch overpriced here given recent games – Social sit bottom and a combined 17 goals in both sides last 2 suggests we could see a few more here even if last years H2Hs indicate otherwise.

Low stakes but worth a look:

    OVER 2.5 MGS…EVENS
⭐⭐…lost but 1-1 after 15 minutes so took the easy cover.

Bit of Icelandic action this afternoon as I relax in my sunlounger and thermal suit staring out through the Yorkshire Coast sleet…

VALUR LADIES VS. ÍBV LADIES (1400 KO):

The female side of Icelandic football can be every bit as productive as their male counterparts – these two certainly feature high on the goals-front.

H2Hwise, the most recent 3 have seen 4 or more and the longer term goals count stands as follows: 4-4-9-3-1-2-5-4-3-8-3-6-6-3-6-3-6-8-1-4-8…not too shabby!

    Worth a look for goals:

    OVER 3.5 MGS…5/4 ⭐⭐⭐

    OVER 4.5 MGS…14/5⭐

    OVER 5.5 MGS…6/1⭐
