Thanks to everyone who has kept the football thread going over the past week and there have been plenty of good winners.
I've been trying to keep in touch and put up some tips but it's always difficult when you're distracted and not fully concentrated on the job and I hope that's come over the past few days.
On Friday I put up what I thought was a nice double on England and France Under-21s but England let me down. In hindsight goals was the bet but I wouldn't have backed Aidy Boothroyd's side if I'd seen his team first. I understand he doesn't want to overuse people but leaving out Phil Foden and Tammy Abrahams was costly.
Again well done to all the winners including those who steered clear of WDW on England.
I've posted a Copa America preview featuring Venezuela v Bolivia, Brazil v Peru and Argentina v Qatar and have decided to take Venezuela to win along with Guinea and Nigeria.
Naby Keita's Guinea face minnows Madagascar and Nigeria tackle debut boys Burundi. The gulf between the favourites and the underdogs is huge but as we've saw recently that doesn't always stand up. Hopefully it will tonight and my reasons for Venezuela are on the preview thread.

It’s a must win game for Italy if they want to progress any further in this competition. Goal difference may play a part in this – Italy currently sit 2nd with one less than Poland who currently top the group and one better than Spain who also have 3 points after one win.
Belgium on the other hand have nothing to play for after losing their opening two games – Belgium will surely go all out for the win to gain back some pride. I see this as a pretty open encounter and wouldn’t be surprised to see 4 or 5 goals.
Venezuela are a solid outfit and that was evident as they managed to hold Peru and Brazil to goalesss draws in their two opening Copa America matches. The number of penalties and own goals in the Women’s World Cup has been akin to the Australian A League! I’m not complaining as it’s paid dividends. Will be interesting to see if it continues now that it is past the group stages. I will be on own goals and penalties in each of the games today. I really feel the bookies have got this one wrong and are getting caught up in the hype that former World Light Welterweight boxing champion Malignaggi is making his bare knuckle fighting debut here. It’s a fairly new promotion and as far as I understand its one of the only ones where gloves of any sort or hand wraps are not used, it’s literally just bare fists. Russian Lobov has had experience in this promotion when he fought Jason Knight in what was an incredibly brutal fight (worth a watch on Youtube 👍) He had to come through adversity and his face was an absoulute mess as you’d expect after recieving blows in the face for 5 rounds but the judges scored a unanimous decision in his favour. At 38 years of age Malignaggi has been very inactive since retiring from boxing two years and you’d have to question whether his punch resistance is still what is was or if he has the stamina to complete the 5 round distance. Malignaggi has only been hit in his face with 8 ounce gloves throughout his career, how will he feel when he gets tagged flush with bare fists? Will he have the heart to fight when he has various cuts to his face and is leaking like a tap? It’s pretty obvious Malignaggi has signed up to the fight for the money and when the going gets tough I’m not convinced he’ll show his fighting spirit. At 32 years old, 6 six years Malignaggi’s junior, with experience and being the more active fighter Lobov should come out victorious.

In regards to what you were saying earlier about Romania winning the competition, they possess an array of attacking talent but are a shambles at the back. That should mean open games in there next fixtures and an opportunity for goalbackers to potentially pounce on betting markets You wouldn’t expect the more resolute sides to crumble at the back like England did, two of those goals were spectacular but the other two were gifts against us. You mention the Germans, I’d expect them to net a minimum of 3 against them if they come up against each other.
I hear what your saying Kyle b, but they are showing to be running on momentum, and France/spain etc are massively under performing, denmark look really good as well to be fair, but I don’t see any of these countries steam rolling Romania, they are the only team – outwith germany to be proper blistering on the break, and attack relentlessly for the whole 90 minutes, no other country apart from germany are playing as well – so these are the reasons for my opinions earlier.
I think that Romanian side can score against anyone including the Germans but two major downfalls I see going into the knockout stages is the number of opportunities they give to the opposition, they do boast a fantastic keeper in Radu however and there disciplinary issues, feel it is only a matter of time before they pickup a red which in the knockout stages will see them out. Leicester proved anything can happen in football though so you never know I suppose.
