IT'S a big night in the SPL at the top and bottom.

Rangers should take a giant step towards the title with victory against Dundee United.

At the foot Hamilton have closed the gap on St Mirren to just three points from 12  but look to have left the revival too late.

Rangers will pip Celtic for the championship if they win their last two games against Dundee United on Tuesday and Kilmarnock on Sunday.

The Ibrox men are 4-9 with William Hill to do so and a biggest 2-5 with Hills and Chandler to lift the title. Celtic are 2-1 at totesport.

Dundee United were the last side to beat Walter Smith's men but that 3-2 victory was closely followed by a 4-0 loss at home when they had three men sent off.

Rangers have hit nine goals and conceded none in two games since the split and show signs if getting stronger under pressure and not weaker.

I can't see them slipping up but 1-4 with bet365 and Skybet to win isn't great value. The last two meetings of the teams have produced nine goals so consider over 3.5 at 13-8 with bodog.

Rangers are 8-11 with Ladbrokes minus one while both teams could score as United have decent strikers in their line-up. This pays 11-8 at Skybet.

Nikica Jelavic has been in great form and the Croat is 11-4 with Ladbrokes to bag the opener. Kyle Lafferty, also on a hot streak, is 4-1 at Coral.

United's Jon Daly, who hit a hat-trick against Motherwell at the weekend, is 12-1 at bet365 and 4-1 with Hills to net at any time. Star man David Goodwillie is 11-1 at bet365 and 10-3 with Hills.

Tuesday's other games could see the relegation issue settled. If Hamilton lose they are down and they must have wished they were playing the St Johnstone side of a few weeks ago.

Saints went more than 1000 minutes without scoring but broke the drought to beat Hibs 2-1 then followed up with a 2-0 win at Aberdeen last Saturday.

They are a superior side to Accies and with their confidence restored I expect Saints to make it three wins in a row at 6-5 with Paddy Power.

For me Accies don't have the firepower to go to McDiarmid Park and win and that's good news for a St Mirren side whose greater goal difference will see them safe with a game to spare if they match Accies' result.

And they can in fact go one better by securing at least a draw against an Aberdeen side who have switched off for the summer.

For anyone who fancies Saints for a rare win at Pittodrie – and I wouldn't totally rule it out against a side who were woeful at home to St Johnstone at the weekend – the Buddies are a biggest 9-4 with Hills and Coral.

It's a game between two sides struggling for goals so consider under 2.5 at 8-13 with bet365, Betfred and others.

Hamilton are 1-10 with Hills to be relegated with Saints 11-2 and that looks about right.

Recommendations
