MY top Europa League tips are elsewhere with Viktoria Plzen featuring as my Super Single and on my treble.

So I need the Czechs to beat Fenerbahce with Anzhi and Benfica the other two on my treble. Here are my thoughts on the other ties.

Spurs v Inter Milan (8.05pm)

This is all about Gareth Bale who stunned the Italians with a hat-trick when the sides met in a Champions League clash in the San Siro.

The Welshman has been banging in goals left, right and centre and is 9-2 at William Hill and Paddy Power to score first.

I know his run has to end sometime but it's one I can't resist having backed him religiosly for weeks. To net at anytime he is 6-5 at BetVictor.

Bet365 offer 15-2 on Bale to hit three or more goals over the two legs and is 7-4 for none, 13-8 one, and 10-3 two.

As for the game itself Spurs should win as long as Andre Villas-Boas plays his full team – as he has so far in the tournament. However, he must be tempted to rest one or two ahead of a crucial league clash at Liverpool on Sunday.

Spurs are 5-6 at Ladbrokes and William Hill with Inter a best 19-5 with William Hill and BetVictor. The Italians have been in decent form but having battled back into contention for a Champions League place their focus could be on Serie A.

Recommendation: Bale to score first (9-2, William Hill, Paddy Power)

Basel v Zenit St Petersburg (8.05pm)

The Swiss side have been impressive and not conceded a goal since their second group game against Genk.

In the last 32 they defeated Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk but Zenit are a class above.

The big spenders beat Liverpool in the last round and have £35million Hulk in their ranks as well as Recent signing Luis Neto who impressed against the Anfield men.

I like Zenit at a best 8-5 with Coral but Luciano Spalletti's side have won only once in 10 European away games and have failed to score in five of those matches so that's a worry.

So maybe the bet to try is the incredible Hulk to net at any time. He is 15-8 at bet365, the same price as top scorer Alexander Kerzakhov.

Recommendation: Hulk to score (15-8, bet365)

Levante v Rubin Kazan (8.05pm)

Levante lie a lowly 11th in La Liga but are unbeaten at home in the Europa League and were easy winners last time out against Olympiakos.

It will be tougher against a Rubin outfit who defeated Atletico Madrid but the Spanish side didn't treat as seriously as they could have.

Rubin haven't lost in four away games but will be without defender Cesar Navas for both legs following a red card against Atletico.

This is a close call but I can see Levante taking a one-goal led to Russia.

Recommendation: Levante (7-5, William Hill).

Stuttgart v Lazio (6pm)

Stuttgart striker Federico Macheda faces his boyhood heroes Lazio and the former Man United striker could start in the absence of The absence of Vedad Ibisevic and Cacau.

Macheda's looking for his first goal for the Germans and is 12-5 at Skybet to get it.

Stuttgart have amazingly reached the last 32 without winning a home gamecbut they won't fancy their chances in Rome so must win tonight.

And that's a tough task against an outfit unbeaten in 10 European games with four successive clean sheets.

Lazio are without injured German striker Miroslav Klose but hopes captain Stefano Mauri recovers from an ankle problem.

This is another tough one to call but I'm going to favour Lazio due to Stuttgart's stutters at home.

Recomendation: Lazio (5-2, William Hill, Paddy Power)

Steaua Bucharest v Chelsea (6pm)

Chelsea should be too strong for the Romanians over two legs but look how they struggled past Sparta Prague in the last round with an injury-time clincher.

Rafa Benitez says he'll treat the game with respect but that means putting out a half-strength side against one with a good home record, albeit at a poorer standard.

I don't see Chelsea, a best 1-1 at William Hill, losing but they may have to settle for a draw. Most of the Blues' Euro matches have been under 2.5 goals and a repeat pays 4-5 at Stan James.

Recommendation: Under 2.5 goals (4-5, Stan James)

BETFAIR – HOME AND AWAY DOUBLE
    ——————————-

We’re focusing on Europa League action this evening – and heading to Spain for our first pick, as Levante host Rubin Kazan at the Estadio Ciudad de Valencia, looking to make home advantage count in this first leg tie.

Juan Ignacio Martinez’ side have lost two from their last three home outings, and have been rocked of late by hotshot forward Obafemi Martins requests to leave the club.

Just one win from their last four games suggests that confidence has been knocked in the Granotes camp, and only a last minute equaliser from Barkero prevented them losing two on the bounce at Valencia on Saturday.

That result left the hosts sitting 11th in La Liga – and with seemingly little chance of making their domestic top six this campaign, they will be desperate to nudge themselves ahead in this tie – especially with a tricky reverse fixture in Russia on the horizon.

Levante have kept just one clean sheet from their last six at home, and I think that their defensive weaknesses could cost them not only this game, but the tie – with away goals all-important.

Visitors Rubin Kazan return to Spain for the second time in two months – having beaten last years’ Europa League winners Atletico Madrid convincingly 2-0 in their last trip.

That victory sent Kurban Burdyev’s side a long way to securing their place in this round, and a 1-0 loss in the return leg was enough to see the Russians through.

The away side go into this clash unbeaten in their last four European away games – and it is clear that they look to come out of the traps quickly, in an attempt to kill the tie before the second leg.

Indeed, just one loss from half a dozen away from the Tsentralnyi Stadium suggests that they are a force to be reckoned with on their travels, and I think that they will look to employ the same game plan which stunned their hosts in Madrid.

They successfully held out the likes of Falcao in that clash, and they will know Levante’s biggest threat Obafemi Martins’ strengths well, since he played for them last season.

    Bet 1: Rubin Kazan (AWAY) @ 3.2

Over to Portugal now – and in-form Benfica host Bordeaux at the Estadio da Luz, aiming to secure their 13th home win from 14 games.

Jorge Jesus’ side have been formidable on their own patch in recent months, and go into this one having lost just one from 23 outings – a run which has lifted them to the top of the Primeira Liga, and will have them eyeing Europa League glory this campaign.

Three clean sheets from their last four in front of their own fans shows just how comfortable the Aguias have looked in recent weeks, and they will be desperate to prevent their visitors from notching any vital away goals here.

Jesus has a full squad to choose from – barring Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic, who is suspended – and will be looking to secure a victory in this tie against a Bordeaux side which has looked off-colour in recent weeks.

The visitors have won just one of their last six games, and sit a disappointing 10th in Ligue 1 following four losses on the bounce domestically.

Boss Francois Gillot has been playing down his sides chances in this clash, even going so far as to call them ‘the surprise of the competition’ – and he will be well aware that just one clean sheet from six outings on the road is unlikely to be good enough to contain this Benfica side, full of momentum and vigour.

Furthermore, just one win from seven Europa League games away from the Stade Chaban Delmas suggests that the visitors historically struggle in these games – and I’m backing the home win here.

    Bet 2: Benfica (HOME) @ 1.55

    DOUBLE

    Rubin Kazan (AWAY) @ 3.2
    Benfica (HOME) @ 1.55

    Mr F,

You recommended a Levante win ? maybe you should change that ;) ;)

    “”Levante v Rubin Kazan (8.05pm)

Viktoria Plzen vs Fenerbahce, Thu 18:00 BST
Match Odds: Plzen 2.2, Fener 3.75, the draw 3.5

Czech side Viktoria Plzen’s results in this competition have been stunning. Their 5-0 aggregate demolition of Napoli in the previous round raised eyebrows across Europe, and they have won all seven of their Europa League home games, conceding just one goal in the process.

Plzen will be oozing with confidence, but they may find Fenerbahce a tough nut to crack. The Turkish giants are unbeaten on their travels in the Europa League, and in the last 32 they dug in for a 0-0 draw at BATE Borisov despite having Raul Meireles sent off after just three minutes. Fener have kept clean sheets in their last three Europa League away games, and I like the look of backing No in the Both Teams to Score market at 1.98. It could be a tight game with defences on top, so back the draw at Half Time at 2.16.

Anzhi Makhachkala vs Newcastle United, Thu 17:00 BST, Live on ITV4

Match Odds: Anzhi 1.71, Newcastle 5.8, the draw 4.0

Newcastle did exceptionally well to come through their last-32 tie against Metalist Kharkiv, beating the Ukrainians 1-0 on their own patch with a disciplined display. Magpies boss Alan Pardew has hinted he will make the competition his top priority, despite his side still being on the fringes of the Premier League relegation battle.

Anzhi have looked very impressive throughout the competition, especially at home. Guus Hiddink’s men have won six out of seven Europa League home games, keeping six clean sheets. Hannover 96 are the only team to have breached the Anzhi defence, and that was in a 3-1 defeat. At the other end of the pitch talismanic striker Samuel Eto’o has excelled, scoring nine goals in 14 Europa League starts. Anzhi’s firepower has been further boosted by the expensive addition of Shakhtar Donetsk forward Willian.

Newcastle skipper Fabricio Coloccini is out with a back problem, and even though Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa is a capable deputy, he looked a bit jittery in Saturday’s Premier League defeat at Swansea. Striker Papiss Cisse is out with illness, but he has been misfiring anyway, scoring just eight goals in 34 appearances this season. The return of playmaker Hatem Ben Arfa from injury is welcome, but can he make an instant impact after such a long spell on the sidelines?

Despite Pardew’s protestations to the contrary, he will have an eye on Sunday’s vital league clash with Stoke, and even if he picks a strong line-up, I can’t see Newcastle avoiding defeat at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium. Newcastle have won just one of their five Europa League away games, and they’ve won just one out of 14 on the road in the Premier League. Back Anzhi -1.0 on the Asian Handicap to boost the price for a home win to 2.06, and back Anzhi to keep a clean sheet at 2.34.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Milesey, it’s not one of my main tips but I can see Levante winning. I don’t think Atletico were too bothered about the Europa League while Levante will give it their best shot. It’s not on my single or treble so that shows the strength of feeling I have about it.

    • Milesey 11 years ago

wow, it’s a big risk putting Levante into a treble, they leak goals…. and in regards to your other point, if Madrid weren’t taking it too seriously they might have left out some of their big players, as they didn’t shows they did have ago and fell short to a well organised team. I expect a Ruban Kazan win, a 1-0 would be nice. Ruban can shut them out, where as i don’t see Levante keeping a clean sheet in this game.

    TIPS FROM RODNEY TROTTER ;) ;) ;)

    James Wade v Robert Thornton

Robert Thornton has been the surprise package of the season. We always knew he was a great player, but he has shown he is not frightened of the big Premier League crowds. We thought he might be overawed, but he has played some very solid games so far. A couple of years ago when he had pneumonia, I think he had a bit of a wake-up call and nowadays he does things right and has established himself as a very solid pro, so he has a chance to do well in all of this year’s tournaments if he continues in this form. However, if Wade comes out with the same form he’s shown in the last two weeks then I think he will win this. A lot will depend on Wade’s motivation, though. He was motivated against Lewis and Taylor, but maybe he can’t get motivated in the same way against Thornton because he’s such a nice guy? That said, I can’t see him losing this match.

    Rod’s call: WADE WIN

Raymond van Barneveld v Andy Hamilton

Barney beat a strong field to win in the Isle of Wight last Friday night and he’s playing really well right now. He looked good against Simon Whitlock last week and I expect him to beat Andy Hamilton in Nottingham. As is always said, The Hammer is a solid player, but I don’t think that will be enough to beat the Dutchman. I think Van Barneveld is great value to win this game, especially when you consider he’s in the best form he’s been in for a few years and he’s also in a very good mood. I think Hamilton will have to play out of his skin to beat him.

    Rod’s call: VAN BARNEVELD WIN

Adrian Lewis v Michael van Gerwen

Only a year ago you would probably be looking at Lewis as the favourite to win this match, but I think the bookies have got Van Gerwen massively odds on here – and if you look at the form book then that is totally justified. He goes on runs of winning four or five legs on the trot, which is the sort of thing Lewis used to do and the Englishman will need to turn up big time and find a brilliant game if he is to have any success here. The problem for Lewis at the moment seems to be concentration. Sometimes he starts well and then something happens in the game – a couple of missed doubles or whatever – that totally ruins his concentration. He needs to get out of that and find some form and I’ve got to go for a Van Gerwen win. People have said this could be 7-0 and I think Aidy will put up a better fight than that, but I can’t see him winning on his current form. And I can’t see him getting enough points to get out of relegation.

    Rod’s call: VAN GERWEN WIN

    Phil Taylor v Gary Anderson

The way things are going, this seems to be another obvious call. Phil Taylor very rarely lets people off the hook, but Gary Anderson does. Last week was a strange night for him because he had a 100 per cent record on doubles (two out of two), which is unbelievable for him – but he didn’t score as well as he normally does. It’s rare to see him fail to outscore his opponent. The Power will be massively odds-on with the bookmakers and I think that’s justified; he failed to close the game out against Wade last week, but I don’t see that happening again.

    Rod’s call: TAYLOR WIN

    Wes Newton v Simon Whitlock

Wes Newton played well last week in his victory over an out-of-sorts Adrian Lewis, which was important for his hopes of avoiding relegation. Simon Whitlock was practising with him before the game and told me that Newton was fired up and was going to win. I wasn’t so sure, but he was right! This week I think Whitlock will be too strong for him, but that won’t be a disaster for him if Anderson and Lewis both lose. I don’t think it’s do-or-die for Newton just yet. However, I think a treble of Whitlock, Barney and Van Gerwen looks like a great bet.

    Rod’s call: WHITLOCK WIN

Flyboivince, there is every chance, I see the Italians sitting back and we dont do very well when we have to break down teams, just have to look at home results against Wigan and Wba although they was earlier in the season. Bale as added free kicks to his game this season and now AVB plays him centrally he can score from outside the box, 6/5 bale anytime is a decent bet.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Alex, Anzhi had won seven out of seven at home in Europe this season. That was one reason. Second, Newcastle were missing six first-choice players. The reasoning for backing Anzhi was sound – unfortunately they played poorly against a packed defence. And they’ll be used to playing in Moscow by now.

Bale again…wharra man!! On fire..Rangers need to sign him…move to a big club…or maybe FC Barcelona!! ;-)

  37. Mat H 11 years ago

Fair play to you mr f some great tips ;)

  38. Chris Guy 11 years ago

Paul, not even funny with Gareth Bale anymore. Bookies must be cursing that boy!!

  39. Elliott 11 years ago

I’ve luckily backed Bale first, last and anytime tonight…if it stayed 1-0 would the first also pay out as the last?

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Elliott, 1-0 gives you first and last for sure.

  40. Chris Guy 11 years ago

    Yes Elliott

  41. Elliott 11 years ago

Thanks Chris. Hope he scores another now! Backed the over 2.5 goals too after Milesey’s tip. COYS!

  42. Chris Guy 11 years ago

Gareth Bale good but not good enough for Barcelona

    • Guido 11 years ago

Dunno abot that Chris..think hez good enuff to go anywhere..whether his style is for FCB I dunno. Thet ned a few defender that can stick the nut in at corners etc..loosing too many dead piece goals…Pique must be 6ft 4in but cant/or wont jump n put his head where it hurts!!..costing them big time against top teams

  43. Chris Guy 11 years ago

Elliott you’re better with it staying 1-0, better payout. Otherwise you need 3 goals or more and Bale to score last, that would be good.

  44. Peter Piper 11 years ago

Milesey … is now a good time to get on 2.5+ in the basel game …???

  45. Craig 11 years ago

    Anyone thinking levante in play??

If I didn’t know better, I’d say you know your stuff :)
I’d love to see the win/loss ratio of you and Mr. F over the last few weeks/months, I reckon it is pretty darn good. Only came upon this site a few days ago, impressed by the knowledge on display. I can’t buy a win at the minute though Bale bailed me out tonight :)
      Damn you Adrian Lewis :(

    • Milesey 11 years ago

You will learn Pat who to follow and who not to, just watch the site and take the tips you like, some have more risks to them then others, but it’s like all sites, you will learn yourself who gives good info and tips, there are quite a few people worth watching on here, varied aswell in what tips are given ;)

A nightmare night for those btts yes selections as all Europa cup games tonight only one team scored in all matches

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Gary F, no to both to score would have been some return. A lot of the teams tonight looked tired or just couldn’t be bothered.

  53. MUZZA 11 years ago

Poor tipping – SEE GUNNER he got 15/15 !! :-)

  54. gary f 11 years ago

A rough calculation on ladbrokes coupon no selection on all games would have paid 150/1

  55. James C 11 years ago

3/5 tips at decent prices Mr Fixit, nice profits, well done!

  56. Mike Jackson 11 years ago

Wow, not one match in the europa where both teams scored. Glad I didn’t bet on owt tonight.
