YOU didn't need to be Michael Fish to predict sport in the UK would be badly hit by the weather today.

Southwell's the only race meeting that's survived and there are football matches off up and down the country.

The Northern Ireland v Russia World Cup qualifier rescheduled for today is not surprisingly off again and the postponement of Annan v Queen's Park means Rangers can't wrap up the Div Three title today even if they beat Stirling in the lunchtime kick-off at Ibrox.

Here is the list at the moment but it's bound to be added to so feel free to coment if you hear of many more fallers.

World Cup qualifier – Northern Ireland v Russia.

League One – Sheff Utd v Brentford, Crawley v Crewe, Shrewsbury v Oldham.

League Two – Bradford v Bristol Rovers, Burton Albion v Wycombe, Chesterfield v Plymouth, Port Vale v Aldershot, Rochdale v Southend, Rotherham v Exeter.

Scottish Div Two – Albion Rov v Forfar, Arbroath v Stenhousemuir, East Fife v Stranraer.

Scottish Div Three – Annan v Queen's Park, Elgin v Clyde.

Snow causes postponements in football, rugby league and racing

Northern Ireland’s World Cup qualifier with Russia at Windsor Park has been called off due to snow.

The game was originally postponed on Friday until 15:00 GMT on Saturday.

Off in League One are: Colchester v MK Dons, Crawley v Crewe, Sheffield United v Brentford and Shrewsbury v Oldham.

In League Two: Bradford City v Bristol Rovers, Burton v Wycombe, Chesterfield v Plymouth, Port Vale v Aldershot, Rochdale v Southend and Rotherham v Exeter are postponed.

In the Blue Square Bet Premier, Barrow’s clash with Ebbsfleet United, Braintree Town against Alfreton Town and Mansfield v Macclesfield are postponed.

Games in Scotland have also been affected by the weather.

Doncaster Rovers Belles against Chelsea Ladies in the Women’s Super League is off.

In Belfast, volunteers helped clear snow off the pitch to try to get Northern Ireland v Russia on but the match was called off at 11:00 on Saturday.

A new date will have to be agreed for the Russia game, but the immediate concern now for the Irish Football Association must be their qualifier against Israel at Windsor Park on Tuesday night.

The weather forecast looks bleak for the next few days and there must be some doubt over whether that game will go ahead as planned.

Racing at Doncaster and Newbury was called off after morning inspections. Officials will now aim to run the Doncaster programme, which includes the William Hill Lincoln, on 30 March.

Bangor, Kelso and Stratford were called off on Friday but racing is expected on the all-weather circuit at Southwell.

Clerk of the course at Doncaster, Roderick Duncan, called off the card following an inspection at 06:00 GMT.

He said: “We have had about two to three inches of snow overnight and it’s still falling now. Daytime temperatures are forecast to stay at or below freezing.”

Sunday’s meeting at Wincanton is expected to go ahead after the track passed an 08:00 GMT inspection on Saturday despite heavy rain in the region.

Friday night’s Super League game between Wakefield and Leeds has been postponed until Sunday.

Milesey, thanks for the updates. Off to walk the dog in the snow, will check in for latest news in a couple of hours but expect to see some more Scottish games called off. Anyone who sees other postponements can post them as a comment on the relevant thread.
