IT’S another busy weekend of action in the Scottish Football Leagues – giving punters another chance to beat the bookies.
Once again we have been hard at it doing our homework in the hunt for a winning treble and let’s hope this week’s tips have us laughing all the way to the bank.
We kick off in the Irn-Bru Second Division and focus on Arbroath’s trip to face Stirling Albion. The Gayfield men have had a sensational season after winning promotion from the Third Division last year and are in second spot, only four points behind leaders Cowdenbeath.
They go into this match a whopping 28 points ahead of their hosts and will be confident of picking up another three points as they are unbeaten against Albion in their last six games, although three of those encounters finished up all square.
The last time the Lichties made the trip to Forthbank they ran out 1-0 winners and I am taking them to once again pick up all three points at 19-20 with William Hill.
We move on to the Third Division and look in on league leaders Alloa’s long trip north to face Peterhead.
Paul Hartley’s side have been in sensational form as they have stormed to the top of the table and after a sticky patch have won their last three games, including a 5-1 hammering of East Stirling last weekend.
Head have picked up and after a 6-3 thrashing at East Stirling they ran out narrow 2-1 winners over Highland rivals Elgin last weekend.
But I reckon Hartley’s men, who are a massive 25 points ahead of their rivals, will have too much quality and will run out winners. That’s why I am taking them at 7-5 with William Hill.
We finish up in the Third Division and Stranraer’s home clash with Montrose. Keith Knox’s Blues side have blown hot and cold in recent weeks but are now within touching distance off winning a place in the end-of-season play-offs.
After two disappointing defeats the Stair Park men bounced back to form with a fine 3-1 win away to Annan last weekend.
They face a Montrose side who have won only once in their last six matches but although I reckon Stranraer will just about edge this one they won’t get it easy against a side they have drawn with in their last two matches.
Complete your SFL treble by taking Stranraer to win at 8-15, widely available with companies such as boylesports, Betfred, Paddy Power and William Hill.
