IT'S a been busy day in the football world – and that's before the matches kick off.

Rangers fans should be smiling after Dave King claimed victory in the boardroom battle and he'll take over on Friday or possibly earlier.

Is this the start of better times for the Ibrox club – or is there still a massive amount of work to do on and off the park? Should King bring in a new manager straight away or do Rangers' odds reflect their chances of promotion.

McBookie.com are offering 3-1 Rangers will be go up to the Premiership and 2-9 they fail thus spending at least one more year in the Championship.

Paul Petrie, McBookie.com spokesman, said: “There is no doubt the feelgood factor is back at Ibrox but whether they can find their form on the football field is another matter. We still make them favourites to be promoted but the odds are against them.”

Hibs are 7-2 to win the play-offs and go up with champions Hearts while it's 4-1 St Mirren, 4-1 Ross County, 4-1 Motherwell and 13-1 QoS.

Elsewhere the football world is mourning the loss of Dave Mackay so comment here if you want to add to the tributes paid earlier to the Scotland legend.

In England Dave Whelan has quit as Wigan chairman after 20 years – should Malky Mackay be next to go or can he keep the Latics up?

Give us your view on these or any other topics – and keep the tips for the main thread.

As a Rangers fan, I would love the change in the board to be the start of something new/good but we have had so many false starts over the last few years I’ll probably not believe it until we start talking about football again. Ah those were the days !

As for a manager, the new guys should let McDowall go as he doesn’t want to be there. We also need to avoid foreign managers, let’s go Scottish and get some pride back in the team. I would give Stuart McCall the job to the end of the season and tell him to earn a longer term contract.

Im pretty sure most football fans in Scotland,Celtic fans included would love to see Rangers returning to the top tier so we could see a return of the Glasgow old firm derby with its atmosphere and buzz that im happy to admit cant be bettered anywhere else,Scottish football needs it badly.

It’s a great day to be a Rangers supporter. Finally the boardroom battle has been won and we can now look forward to rebuilding the club. Really excited to see how we progress under Dave King. Not sure who I want as next manager. Possibly McInnes who would come in a second.

Without it longtirm Scottish prem lg football has become far too predictable and has taken the value from being announced league champions,ts the only fixture north of the border that interested people from outside of Scotland and without it Scottish football would be on a never ending downward spiral in terms of money and investment from sponsors.
Be interested in hearing Mr F’s thoughts on this.

Sean, I don’t support Celtic or Rangers as everyone knows but I believe Rangers are needed in the top flight as are Hibs and Hearts. However, the league should always be sponsored – there’s still huge interest in the game up here and a lack of sponsors is in my opinion the fault of those charged with bringing them on board.

Sorry Bryan Mcinnes has only just started at Aberdeen and will see it through, more likely to happen in a couple of years but by then he may be in England!

McInnes is a Rangers man through and through who would walk to Ibrox. He’s ours if we want him.

Bryan, my money would be on Stuart McCall.

It possible, Paul. As I said — I think it will be an out of work manager on a short term contract and then review it in the summer.

Sean even with Rangers in the prem it was predictable. All non old firm fans are happier with the way things are currently as its very competitive if you take Celtic out of the equation. Hard to predict whats going to happen in the next couple of years but will be interesting i hope.

There is a reason why the league can’t get a sponsor. If there’s only one team who can win the league then clearly it isn’t competitive.

    Hi Paul

Wonder if you will be able to help out

Placed a bet a while back on John Carver to get Newcastle Job with William HIll

Have been patiently waiting on pay out

It now seems having read some comments on Twitter that they will not be paying out as he is only interim manager

On the Newcastle website for example he is listed as head coach

Most other companies have already paid out or will do so after 10 games

If they are not paying out as a big company this is really poor

Basically they have kept all the punters money for the original market and have now opened a new market for the same job

In this modern day and age we have head coaches, managers, and many other titles

I think they are guilty of sharp practices as those who were in the running back then will be totally different to those who might be available in the summer and people placed there bets on that basis

I know you always try and exert your influence in matters like this to help punters but I feel genuinely let down by William hill and know you have had success in the last like when Anthony Joshua punters were not paid out by Ladbrokes

    I hope you can help

    Dave

I think Rangers need another season in the Championship, players are dire, only ones id keep are Bell Wallace Murdoch and Clark, need another season to build a team as i dont think we’d even finish in the top 6 with this team, and 12 are out of contract.

With the players rangers have at ibrox at the moment you wouldnt get 1 million pound for the whole squad. Your new board have to go right back to the very start and replace all players who have taken your club backwards since they were put in the scottish 2nd division. 1 example david templeton. Last game for hearts against liverpool in europa league next day signs for rangers to play in the 2nd div. And what has he done since apart from lineing his pockets with cash.

    Admin / Mr Fix It

I’ve chased on numerous occasions for my free £10 bet 365 credit and have already emailed Admin. This refers to a promo on Tot v Che when Costa was selected to score first back on 1/1/15. Can someone advise how and when this will be processed? I’ve seen numerous other punters make very similar comments about such offers. Many thanks.

Shares in Rangers International Football Club plc have been suspended by the AIM market, the Glasgow outfit have told the Stock Exchange.

It follows the resignation of the club’s nominated advisor, WH Ireland, ahead of Friday’s extraordinary meeting at the Scottish Championship club.

Shareholder Dave King, who is poised to take control on Friday, had planned to change the nomad following that vote.

RIFC has a month to find a new nomad under Stock Exchange rules.

If it fails to do so, it would be withdrawn from the AIM market.
