Liverpool v Newcastle
Premiership, Wednesday, December 26. KO 3pm
IT'S the time of the season when we can get silly results as games come thick and fast.
Last weekend Man City and Chelsea lost at home to Crystal Palace and Leicester respectively so with his side sitting top of the table for Christmas there will be no complacency from Jurgen Klopp.
Games come thick an fast so squads will be rotated but it's the case for teams with smaller squads as well those with the biggest ones – so looking at it logically Liverpool should have no problems here.
Stats suggest a convincing home win. Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 22 Premier League games against Newcastle at Anfield, winning 18 and drawing four since a 2-0 defeat in April 1994. And that's pretty remarkable.
Liverpool have won six Premier League games in a row and this would be a bad time to slip up. If you're concerned they won't win well wait for team line-ups before making a call.
The Reds are of course short at 1-7 with 888sport but -1 is OK on handicaps at 2-5 while -2 tempts at 23-20 and has a great chance of landing if the home men score early. One warning though – the -2 hasn't landed in the last five meetings at Anfield although there have been two 2-0s.
Another bet to look at is Liverpool to win to nil at 8-11. For a side that leaked goals last season it's amazing they've conceded just seven all season and only two at home.
Palace were 25-1 to win at the Etihad so huge shocks can happen and Newcastle are 18-1 with the draw paying 7s.
Any takers? Not for me and I'm on the Reds to win this easy – as long Klopp doesn't rest too many.
