LAURA ROBSON joined Andy Murray as the only Brits to reach the second round of the singles when she knocked out No.10 seed Maria Kirilenko on Tuesday.

Coral have cut the odds on the English girl winning Wimbledon to 100-1 but despite Virginia Wade's optimism it's not going to happen this year but she could go through another couple of rounds.

With Murray 2-1 second favourite for the men's singles, Coral go 302-1 the pair complete an incredible double British success at SW19 this summer.

Spokesman David Stevens said: “Robson was the 7-4 underdog to win her first-round match but she defied the odds to record a straight-sets victory and keep the dream alive of an amazing British double at this year's Wimbledon.”

I'm sure our man Ellis, whose challenge to turn £10 into £10,000 is still alive, tipped Robson but said the price was too short. He'll maybe clear that one up for us

Watch out for Ellis's tennis tips throughout the tournament and I'll put some of my own despite an average first few days.

    My 1st Single

Lukasz Kubot to beat Steve Darcis @ 2.20

    • 1plus2 11 years ago

The stats all point to Darcis edging this but the big stat is Kubot leads 1-0 in H2H and you may be forgiven thinking that Darcis beating Nadal has been his crowning glory here so inevitably that means he should lose this but i would not like to pick a winner from either of them.

But good luck Titou and again this could be a good call following your Watson getting beat bet earlier as well ;-)

    • jasper 11 years ago

      Kubot great value there.
Rosol lost after beating nadal last year.
After the lord mayors show syndrome

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Jasper, I agree and Darcis will probably lose against Kubot.

    • Titou 11 years ago

Thanks 1Plus2 I think I’m going to need it I’m no where near as Confident as I was on Madison Keys to beat Heather Watson Yesterday that was a 10/10 for me, Lukasz Kubot to beat Darcis is more like 6 pushing on 7/10 it’s going to be a tough one for Kubot

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Titou, Darcis will find it difficult to reach the same level and having watched some of his game against Nadal it was clear the Spaniard was really struggling with his knee even though he didn’t use it as an excuse. I’d side with Kubot and of course it’s already been pointed out that Rosol went out tamely in the next round after beating Nadal last year.

    • Titou 11 years ago

I agree on both the points you’ve said there Mr F Nadal’s left Knee was clearly bothering him vs Darcis which lead to Nadal trying to avoid returning shots with his back hand, Darcis will struggle to maintain that kind of performance again & was one the of the reasons I backed Kubot it’s going to be intresting

    26th June Wimbledon

Kirsten Flipkens to win 1/2 paddy power and betway

  5. Ellis 11 years ago

    Mr F,

Maybe I was asleep or something because I could have swore Robson was odds on as I was tipping her on here

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Ellis, Robson was definitely 2-1 and Coral quoted their price of 7-4 in the article I posted last night. Think about it – a young Brit against the 10th seed who made the quarter-finals last year. She had to be the underdog although as I said yesterday before the match she was being tipped by a few people to win.

Looking to find lady 2-1 winners so I can stick my wad on. Will cover trebles and four timer = 5 bets x stake.
    Bartoli v McHale 2-1
    Flipkens v Jovanovski 2-1
    Stephens v Petkovic 2-1
    Kvitova v Shvedova 2-1
likely suspects. Most odds are around 5/2 so a wee treble even will pay well.

The Dane, surprised to see you on the tennis. Most of those tips look OK but I’d been on Melzer who has a decent record at Wimbledon.

    • The Dane 11 years ago

Mr. Fixit – I’m on everything with value :-)

Three experts like Reister because of his way through qualifying without dropping a set, beating of Rosol in the first round and 17 wins in his last 19 matches. And because of Melzers 6 losses in his last 7 and injury problems.

Two of the experts have chosen asian handicap but since I’m differentiating I’m going for high value and high odds.

Darcis pulled out of Wimbledon wi injury, is that classed as void on your bets. was gonna have a wee bet on hewitt after being a set down but only getting 2/9. laughable really as I was looking for around evens and he’s 2 sets down and now 6/5, hink al just leave it haha

  13. Titou 11 years ago

Ahh Darcis pulling out is disappointing, I think Dustin Brown @ 2’s to win the 3rd set is well worth it

    • Titou 11 years ago

      Glad I didn’t back it ;) lol

  14. Neil H 11 years ago

Just wanting to check with anyone that knows about tennis betting. I put on a double earlier which included Jerzy Janowicz. Noticed that his opponent retired so assumed that I would win but it is showing up as a void. Is that usually the case. Annoying if so as notice he was a set and a break up !.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Neil H, most bookies rules are bets are void if someone retires.

  15. Neil H 11 years ago

Thanks for the info Mr F

  16. JP 11 years ago

not looking to good for Tsonga at the moment.

  17. Neil H 11 years ago

Anyone getting on Tsonga. Hes now 10/3 which doesnt look bad price considering its 2-1 not 2-0. Ive just backed him now.

  18. Ellis 11 years ago

All good money back he retired

  19. Ellis 11 years ago

    Bet 7
    ________________

The bet will now be on Marion Bartoli to win 1/3

  20. JP 11 years ago

Does bet 365 give money back if Tsonga retired??? or do they count it as a loss.

  21. Ellis 11 years ago

Money back everywhere. Never completed match

    JP get on next one,,,

Mr F. Must have been dreaming about the price on Robson haha swore I seen it 2/5 in the window at hills

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Ellis, check yesterday’s Racing Post and you’ll see the real prices. Hills were 2-1 Robson. How could she have been 2-5 as a huge underdog?

  22. JP 11 years ago

ha ha. good stuff. Im just waiting for them to refund my money. thats good to hear. what time does Marion Bartelli start?

  23. Lord Clegg 11 years ago

I don’t remember a Wimbledon before with so many people dropping out- its worse than non runners at the horses.

  24. Titou 11 years ago

today has been madness players dropping like flies out there & another shock Sharapova’s just been knocked out too

  25. Ellis 11 years ago

Mr f. Dunno where I got that from I tipped her so all good

    Bartoli about to start

  26. Tommo 11 years ago

    Radek Stepanek *VOID*

    Tommy Robredo *WIN*

    Petra Cetkovska *WIN*

    Victoria Azarenka *VOID*

    Sloane Stephens *WIN*

Got very lucky with Radek Stepanek as he was about to go 2 sets down, bet was voided. Had serious doubts about Caroline Wozniacki, can see her slowly going even further down the rankings!

Had a very successful day on the doubles with most of the pairs i fancied going through although i was surprised that Timea Babos and Mandy Minella got beat so easily!

Unfortunately my bet on Ana Ivanovic made me drop off the £10 challenge at bet 6!!

Colin Fleming and Jonathan Marray are currently playing and i’m on them for my final bet(short odds-on favourites) on the tennis before the Brazil game to try and boost the pot even more…

  27. Lord Clegg 11 years ago

Any of those jokers who pulled out today should be barred from the tourney next year. I will be writing to Wimbledon to suggest this!

  28. The Dane 11 years ago

Mr. Fixit – good job on the Melzer match and a smile at my face too :-)

    The Dane.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

The Dane, thanks for that. Just took him mainly for his Wimbledon record.
