WIMBLEDON'S finally arrived after a couple of weeks warming up on the grass and the big question is: Can Andy Murray go all the way?

The Scot won the Olympics at Wimbledon last year and followed up with the US Open crown so will be more confident than ever but of course he's got the likes of Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic to contend with.

Murray is in good form having won at Queen’s last weekend and should at least cruise to the quarters where he is likely to face Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. If he beats the Frenchman it's probably French Open champion Nadal and then Djokovic – with the Serb having an easier route to the final.

The Scot is a biggest 4-1 at William Hill and I'll be backing him all the way. Djokovic is 5-4 favourite with bet365 and should be Murray's final opponent.

In the women’s event Serena Williams is odds on at 1-2 with Skybet to defend her crown and it's a poor price. Maybe Ellis will come up with an each-way bet that will give us a run for our money.

Watch out for Ellis's tennis tips throughout the tournament and I'll also put some singles and doubles on some of the matches.

4/1 are not great odds if he has the likes of Tsonga, Nadal and Djokovic to beat along the way, i know he’s a decent player but to beat those guys and win the tournament his odds would want to be around the 7 or 8/1 mark

    • Mr Fixit 13 years ago

John, whoever wins the tournament is going to have beat the best no matter the draw. Tougher for Nadal who could have Fed, Murray and Djokovic. If Nadal and Fed is classic five-setter that will help Andy as long as he takes care of Tsonga whom he beat at Queen’s.

Need another in the Nigeria game :/

    • coldasice 13 years ago

      Still fancy Rafa Ellis?

He’s down two sets and a break and looks out of sorts, not that i’m on Darcis, and at 18/1 I should have had a daft tenner on it!

He could well turn it round though but prob not worth it at 6/4 in play.

This bet is @1.66 at bet365 but too many bookies has around 1.85…

These 2 players met each other 2 times and Oudin was fixed as 1.57 and 1.71. Now 1.89 looks juicy because Oudin has more potential and I expect her to give her best in Grand Slam tournament…. Should win imo easier rather than bookies Thought…. GL….

  32. Robert 13 years ago

    Nothing..

  33. Ellis 13 years ago

    Mr F,
I saved the Wimbledon outrights to my computer and cannot find them so I will rewrite the reasoning tomorrow night

    Mens Outright

Rafael Nadal 4/1 – in short terms a man who is hungry for his ranking back, is on top form at the minute

    Womens

    How can you pick a winner when Serena is so short priced. As Mr F requested I therefore selected a EW bet;

Maria Sharapova E/W 8/1 – Sharapova is in the best form of her life and she simply wants a major more than anything. She rips through the ball extremely well and technically she is the only women, other than Azarenka who can match what Serena Williams has to offer.

Sorry they are brief. Had some detailed ones and cannot find them. Will re-write tomorrow

    £10 TO £1,000 CHALLENGE BET 3 (£17.89)
    ____________________________________________

    Mikhail Youzhny vs Robin Haas
    ____________________________________________

Mikhail Youzhny to win — 2/15
    ____________________________________________

I thought for bet 3 of the challenge we would stick to the Wimbledon theme and I have decided to back a young Russian who is making a rapid climb up the world rankings. He has caused many major upsets this season and he has disposed of some of the worlds best players in his rise to world number 20. He plays an experienced qualifier in the form of Robin Haas, however, Haas is well known for his poor consistency and shot making. I expect Youzhny to fly through this match, potentially 3-0 or 3-1

    Good luck,

    Ellis!

    • Mr Fixit 13 years ago

Ellis, you ain’t taking too many chances with your second effort. Is £17.89 what you have or will that be the total?

  39. Ellis 13 years ago

    (£17.89)what we are on

    Mr F,

At the start I said that it will be between 1/9 and 1/14 to achieve it in the 50 bets, that way im not getting carried away and doing ‘safe’ bets, achieving it is 50 days as we said. On the first day I threw in the 8/15 Robertson bet to give us a bit more to play with

  40. Ellis 13 years ago

I want to try and make them as safe as possible to make the £1,000 in the time I said

    • Mr Fixit 13 years ago

ellis, not having a go, just an observation.

  41. Ellis 13 years ago

oh I know pal just saying, the aim was to get there doing one bet in a maximum of 50 days, doing 1/14 everyday would take 50 days

    • Mr Fixit 13 years ago

ellis, I’ve only ever looked at the evens challenge which obviously is faster but tougher. Right, calling it a night.

  42. Ellis 13 years ago

Yeah just thought this would keep some of us busy haha

  43. jasper 13 years ago

    Hewitt v wawrinka over 3.5 sets 1-2.
ward v yen hsun lu over 3.5 sets 4-7.
    baltacha v pennetta over 2.5 sets 5-4

  44. Dertanyan 13 years ago

    Malisse – Verdasco over3.5 sets
    Scheeper – Lorenzi over3.5 sets
    Hewitt – Wawrinka over3.5 sets

    Total odds 3.87

    GL….

    • jasper 13 years ago

      Monday nap
      Hewitt – wawrinka
      total sets =5 5-2 {hills}

    • jasper 13 years ago

      or Ladbrokes go
      handicap bet
      Hewitt +2.5 5-6
      or
      wawrinka -2.5 5-6

so if you think its cert to go to 4 sets at least,
lump on Hewitt for a nice touch
wawrinka would have to win 3-0 if you go with him at -2.5.

  45. Malisha 13 years ago

Top single: Jovanovski to beat Tomljanovic @ 1.75
I think this is a giveaway odds here, as Serbian is much higher ranked and has shown solid improvement over past couple of months.

    Treble @ 3.4:
Jovanovski to beat Tomljanovic @ 1.75
Wickmayer to beat Dolonc @ 1.3
Rosol to beat Reister @ 1.5

    • Mr Fixit 13 years ago

Malisha, tough to find value on first-round Wimbledon matches but I’m having a double on Rosol v Reister and Garcia v Brown. Both about 1-2 so doubling your money. I might also take Baltacha at 4-5 as a single in the women’s.

  46. Wilesey 13 years ago

John Isner v Evgeny Donskoy – DONSKOY @ 3.4 paddypower

Isner has been terrible on grass courts this year. His movement is crap and he is poor at the net. Donskoy also beat him at the last tournament in Gertogenbosch.

    • Titou 13 years ago

The Rosol game looks a real tight one, Good luck if you decided to take it

  51. Ellis 13 years ago

Tight but fancied his experience to get him through it at EVS

    • Titou 13 years ago

      Looking good atm ;)

  52. Neil H 13 years ago

Good shout with the rosol game Ellis. Managed to get on him at 2/1 when he was 5-4 down in games in the 4th set. Now just backed Reister at 6/4 to make sure end in profit either way. Cheers
