IT'S odds on at 4-9 with Coral that Andy Murray will meet Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final – and it's difficult to argue with that assessment.

Djokovic-Murray was what I tipped at the start of the tournament and while both have sailed through to the last eight it's the world No.1 who has looked the most impressive of two class acts. For the world's best two players not to be in Sunday's final you can have 13-8.

Djokovic remains favourite at 1-1 (Coral) with Murray 5-4 ahead of Wednesday's quarter-finals with Juan Martin del Potro 20-1 third favourite.

Tomas Berdych is next up for Djokovic and although the Czech is a fine player it's 3-0 or 3-1 the Serb for me. Djokovic is just 1-7 to win the match so set betting is the way to go and 3-0 pays 21-20 at sportingbet.

Murray faces left-hander Fernando Verdasco and again is even shorter at a biggest 1-12 so look at him to win 3-0 (8-11, sportingbet) or 3-1 (11-4, William Hill).

The only lefty Murray has lost to on grass is Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon and Verdasco shouldn't give him too many problems once he adjusts to the game. He hasn't played a lefty all season though so may struggle a bit at the start then blow the Spaniard away.

Giant Pole Jerzy Janowicz meets fellow countryman Lukasz Kubot for the right to face Murray. It's a big day for Poland who will have a man in the semi-finals at Wimbledon for the first time. Janowicz is the 2-9 favourite at Ladbrokes and William Hill but he struggled to win his last match in five sets and Kubot is a more experienced campaigner who should go close if he can return his pal's huge serve.

Kubot looks overpriced at 4-1 with Stan James. I'm putting a small stake on that but also backing Kubot +5.5 games at 1-1 with William Hill.

The final tie is a fascinating one between the battling world No.4 David Ferrer and grasscourt expert Juan Martin del Potro. It's a tough one to call but if pressed I'd go for the big Argentine at who is the underdog at 6-5 with the likes of William Hill and Ladbrokes.

If there's going to be a five-setter this could be it because Ferrer never goes up and William Hill offer 5-2 on the match going all the way.

I called two of the four women's games correctly by taking Sabine Lisicki to win 2-0 and Radwansk-Li to go to three sets. Petra Kvitova let us down but turns out she was feeling unwell.

As always check out any tips put up by Ellis.

I really fancy del potro too mr f! :)
Murray and Djorkivic 13/1 to both win 3-1 with skybet too. Kinda fancy a few quid on that.

Kev, Murray and Djokovic both due to drop a set but if they keep playing the way they are it’s unlikely. Murray dipped a bit against Youhzny but came back from 5-2 down to win the second set and then sailed through the third 6-1. He wasn’t at his best but beat a good player at a canter and that shows the level he and Djokovic are playing at. It’s way better than anyone left in the draw.

Thinking berdych could easily take a set to a tie break if he serves well. And then anything can happen. And murray apparently sruggled a bit last game. Too good odds to not have a wee punt

Just think novak will against berdych. Not so confindent with andy against verdasco. Could see him wiping the floor 3-0 in that one. Worth a 5er on at those odds though. Suprised you going for kubot, but see what ur saying with it. The crowd will no doubt side with him too cos of the mobot! ;)

Kev, I might be totally wrong but looks to me as if Jancowicz has a great serve and not much else. He’s struggled through and it will be interesting to see how he handles being favourite in a Grand Slam quarter-final. Kubot’s a decent player and just looked a bit big to me and I might also have a nibble on him to win 3-2 at around 12-1. However, bookies obviously fancy Jancowicz big time.

Totally agree with you about Ferrer and Del Potro, Mr F – that looks a long, hard contest. 5/2 is a decent price.

Also agree it’ll be a much closer call between Kubot and Janowicz. They are pals and that makes it harder for both to be as clinical as they might like. They know each others’ games well. Plus they both want to represent Poland in the semis. A lot of competing factors there to prevent one from dominating the other as we might expect given the rankings, and lots of psychological issues to keep them jittery and inconsistent.

Ideally, I’d have liked them both to just have discovered they’re in love with the same dame – even if, inexplicably, it turned out to be Virginia Wade – then we’d have the full set to guarantee every swing and roundabout a match can throw up.

However, there’s still plenty enough to keep them slogging out there all day.

5 sets is 7/2 with Hills.

    Vagnozzi@1.80

This bet is from Timisoara Challanger. I do not like Vagnozzi at all he is usual suspect for fixing games but with better form and good price Î should try. Medium-low stake… GL…

if you think Murray might struggle at the start of match until he finds his rhythm try verdasco to win 1st and lose tge match at 11/2

Craig, you’re probably right to say if Murray loses a set it will be the first so might be a decent bet.

    CONSENSUS BETTING TENNIS.

(The tennis matches from Wimbledon most experts agrees on having value combined with my staking plan.)

Murray -6 have been on and off the list all morning but are being left out. If only I hadn’t seen someone writing about Verdasco having lost his serve only two times and recommending a Verdasco +7 bet. If Mr. Fixit are correct again I’ll close down all other free tips sites from my computer :-)

The Dane, what you say about Verdasco is correct but he hasn’t faced a returner as good as Murray. That’s such a strong aspect of his game that Verdasco should be put under pressure.

    Del Potro Vs Ferrer

I’m going to have to side with the Spainish Machine Ferrer in this one albeit he hasnt been at his best in the Torny so far & Del Potro has yet to drop a Set, Ferrer’s won the last 4 meetings between the two, 2 of which have been on Grass he leads 6-2 Overall on H2H meetings, I think Del Potro struggles to adapt to Ferrer’s style & with Del Potro having a slightly injured knee that will only get aggravated more today with the two likely getting drawn into long rally’s which will Favor Ferrer in my opinion. For Del Potro to Win this his Serve is going to have to be on Point all Game.

    3-1 Ferrer @ 4.33 8/10

    Between 38-43 Games @ 4’s 6/10

Im doing 2 singles and a double today

Verdasco to win a set 5/4
Kubot to win a set 8/11

(above double pays £38.86 to a £10 stake)

    Odds at William Hill

Good luck if your having a bet

Quite like the look of that tip Chief. Will do it as it looks a bit tricky today working things out on the tennis. Suffice to say I expect Del Potro, Djokovic, Murray to go through. No idea which of those Poles will win as it looks an old pals five set certainty.

  18. Avatar of Lord Clegg
    Lord Clegg 11 years ago

With the first two Quarter Finals ending 3-0 I think the tip is back plenty of sets/games in the next two matches. The Polish derby should at least have four sets and I think Verdasco will do well enough to take the Murray match to beyond 34.5 games.

    Kubot-Janowicz over 38.5 games 8/11
    Murray-Verdasco over 34.5 games.. 5/4

Never betting on Murray again. Always bottles it when I bet on him. He should never drop s set sgainst a player ranked do far below him. Don’t know what it is about the British mentality but we always seem to bottle big matches whatever the sport.
