TRAIL Blazers and Pacers fizzled out in the second half and the double was downed by a couple of shots.

Two more alternates tonight. A total from Miami and a spread in Chicago. The Bulls lost big in Toronto the other night and I can’t see that changing against Pops-Spurs.

They held off a stacked Timberwolves squad in game 1, so expect a similar story on the road against a depleted Bulls.

The total has been bet up two points with Indiana on a b2b in Miami. Both sides like the fast paced play and this one should go over the alternate.

Two more alternate totals on the hoops for tonight's small card.

Surprised how small the handicap is for the Pelicans, can’t see the lakers being able to handle AD and Cousins. On the double, let’s hope for another winner. ?

Friday was a tough night as every tip fell a shot or two short. So I decided to have the night off last night to chill my nerves. They were all covering at some point late, but didn’t end up winners. The won the games, but didn’t cover the spreads. That happens. Those are the kind of breaks you miss in an NBA season every now and then. I am undeterred and look to finish the weekend strong.

Today we have 3 games to choose from and tips for 2 of them so let’s get right into that.

    ATLANTA HAWKS vs BROOKLYN NETS
Two teams that won’t make the playoffs this year face in an afternoon match-up that should feature some real fireworks. Both teams have played 2 games thus far with the Nets allowing 130pts per game and the Hawks allowing 110pts per game. These are not good defenses and they will each need to score to make this game competitive.

Brooklyn has shown they are capable of doing that thus far. They put up 131 in the opener against Indiana and 126 against Orlando. They play at a quick pace so there will be lots of opportunities for buckets. They will definitely do their part to fill it up in this one.

Atlanta is a bit more of a wildcard, but they should benefit from playing the Nets. They put up 117 in the opener, but then only 91 against the Hornets. Charlotte should be one of the better defensive teams in the Eastern Conference this year so that isn’t that all surprising. Expect a big bounce back tonight.

In case you couldn’t tell, I hate the defenses and love the offenses in this one.

MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES vs OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
I often like to look at who is playing their third game in four nights to get a judge on how a team might perform. The Thunder are doing exactly that tonight and that could cause them to play a bit sluggish. I still think the talent level is there, but they might be running at like 90-95% effectiveness. Just something that I keep an eye on.

With or without the rest, I really like their defense this year. In the 2 games they’ve played they are yet to allow 100pts in a game. Paul George, Steven Adams and Andre Roberson are elite defenders that hide the shortcomings of their superstar teammates, Carmelo Anthony & Russell Westbrook. This team will shut you down.

The same can be said about Minnesota. They held Utah under 100 their last timeout and have shown to be improving on defense. Tom Thibodeau wouldn’t have it any other way and with Jimmy Butler and Taj Gibson on board to show the young people the way, this defense should only improve as the season progresses.

These defenses are for real and Thunder’s travel may help the Wolves D a little bit more.

    TIPS
    HAWKS-NETS – OVER 220.0
    TIMBERWOLVES-THUNDER – UNDER 211.5

    NBA 17/18 W/L
    4-4

Evens double wins, been a good start to the season. Bigger card tonight but a tough one.

The Warriors will not be happy with their 1-2 start and head to Dallas who are 0-3. While Dallas will hope they can keep making a misery of the Warriors start, it won’t be long before the the champs start rolling teams again. Hopefully starting tonight.

Toronto travel to Texas where the Raptors take on the Spurs. Toronto’s first road game this season so we’re in the unknown slightly, but they don’t have a good history coming here, and the Spurs seem to be playing well even without their superstar Kawhi Leonard.

    Warriors -3 – 1:30AM
    Spurs ML – 1:30AM

    21/20 @ 365 – 4 points
