LAST weekend we helped pay for all those Christmas presents with a winning SFL treble that returned around 4-1.

So let’s hope we can make it a double and beat the January blues by beating the bookies for a second week in a row in the Scottish Football Leagues.

We kick off in the Irn-Bru First Division and focus on Falkirk’s home clash with Ayr.

The Bairns are desperate to win promotion back to the SPL and sit in second place in the table three points behind leaders Ross County.

In contrast the Honest Men have performed well in the League Cup to earn a semi-final clash with derby rivals Kilmarnock but have struggled in the league and sit second bottom of the table, a massive 16 points behind the Bairns.

The Honest Men have failed to beat the Bairns in the last five clashes between the clubs but Steven Pressley’s side won’t get it easy as the Somerset troops have drawn two of those meetings.

However, I reckon the Bairns can keep up their push for promotion and am tipping them to pick up all three points at 8-15, widely available.

We stay in the First Division and look in on leaders Ross County’s long trip south to face Queen of the South.

County proudly sit top of the table after an impressive run of results under Derek Adams and the entire league table separates them from this weekend’s rivals.

The Dingwall men head into this one 20 points ahead of the Palmerston men and you have to fancy them increasing that gap even further.

Go for a win for Adams’ boys at a tempting 10-11 with Boylesports and William Hill.

We finish up in the Second Division and Stenhousemuir’s home clash with Forfar.

Stenny sit in third place in the chase for promotion as they face a Forfar side bottom of the table and 14 points behind them in the rankings.

The Ochilview men are desperate to get last week’s humiliating 7-0 hammering to Ross County in the Scottish Cup out of their systems and I reckon this match gives them the ideal opportunity to do just that.

Go for a Stenny win at 10-11, widely available.

I like the selections and had two of them down but am a bit tentative on Ross County…. their home form is pretty great though and Partick’s Away form fairly average.

I think if it were just above evens I’d be all over it!

Personally I’d replace Ross with Dundee. There are some parallels between Dundee and Partick that you can make, fairly similar league position, points, goal difference etc.- Dundee in fact drew 1-1 away to Ross County not too long ago. Despite losing on Boxing day I’d expect them to bounce back here, their recent away form is the best in the division and the team they are playing (RAITH ROVERS) have already lost over half their home games. Finally Dundee recently did the business over Hamilton who are around abouts where Raith are positioned 6-1 away and they appear good value on the coupon coming in at 11/10 on Bet365.

I’ll make this my super single having talked myself into it with what I wrote above!

    Good Luck All!

    Willie,

Must be some sort of Gremlin in the system. My post from 02/01 is here.

Made good sense back in the day!
Dundee came in on that occasion and won me Mr FixIts Super Single competition for that weekend so couldn’t have been too bad! ;)

    All the best
    Robert
