NOTE: Motherwell game off – alternative Super Single St Johnstone, 2pts at 6-4
MY top tips will be published nearer midnight but I've decided to post the Super Single early because I've seen the price dropping.
As has been hinted several times throughout the week my Saturday selection is Motherwell at home to Inverness in the Scottish Premiership. And remember this is a 12.45pm kick-off and live on Sky Sports 1.
They were my choice last Sunday and Stuart McCall's men duly have rammed in five at Partick Thistle then thumped St Johnstone 4-0 on New Year's Day to make it five wins in a row since humiliating losses to Celtic (5-0 at home) and Albion Rovers in the Scottish Cup.
It's been some turnaround for the Fir Parkers and their improvement mirrors the loss in form suffered by Dundee United.
A couple of weeks ago it looked like Inverness and the Arabs would battle for second spot but now Well and Aberdeen are the favourites.
Well have stuck out like a sore thumb since weekend odds were revealed but unfortunately I wasn't the only one to recognise the value in a best price of 13-10 with bet365 and that was cut in Thursday.
For the Super Single I quote Ladbrokes odds and as I write they are 6-5 and that's in line with most firms.
It's still worth taking against an outfit who have lost three out of four and drawn the other at Partick Thistle.
Inverness, who will be missing a few players, started OK under John Hughes but Sunday's defeat at home to Ross County will have rocked fans and already he's having to justify his decisions.
I'm not sure what's changed for Well – apart from a couple of kicks up the backside – but James McFadden has returned to form with his first league goals of the season against Thistle then Saints after coming off the bench.
When Faddy's on his game Well tend to win and he is 3-1 at Skybet to net at anytime. John Sutton is 6-1 at McBookie to break the deadlock and he's got to be the first choice in that market.
Having won their last by four goals Well have to be considered minus one at 3-1 with Skybet.
I've been rating the Super Singles on a scale of 1-5 and this is a four-pointer. This year's record is one out of two for a profit of £1 to £10 unit stakes. If using the points system the profit would be £62.
4pts Super Single
Motherwell (12.45pm)
(6-5, Ladbrokes)
Sorry Mr f I have a feeling caley can nick a draw here just a gut feeling..
Cracking price for Well Mr F, will be on them! If anyone can find a reason not to back them I’d love to hear it! :)
Greg here is a reason, Motherwell are renowned for winning games they shouldn’t ( helicopter Sunday) and losing games they should win, a la Albion Rovers, that said i was on them sharp yesterday before the price went, haven’t had time to go through the posts yet but there is a precautionary pitch inspection at 8 am for this game, don’t know if that has been mentioned yet…
Davie-S, it’s not been mentioned but I’d imagine the majority of games in Scotland will need pitch inspections.
Aberdeen at evens with Ladbrokes
Ignore last comment, having a senior moment. Already posted SS on the correct thread.
Far too eager!!!
Have to go with this also. It seems like a real silver streak in Motherwell at the moment.
Super single BLACKBURN V MANCITY Over 3.5
oor man, Had a look at the games you posted the other day. Like the look of Valladolid feel they could nick it. Usually put 2 singles on my own and Mr F’s but put Motherwell on 2 days ago so have a spot left just trying to figure out the other single. Might split the stake in half and put another 2 singles on. Anyway cheers for the heads up!
Honda, I also like St Johnstone at Ross County but Greg’s the man to tell us if he thinks his team can win – although he usually calls it wrong with them.
There’s always going to be games they should win and games they shouldn’t but im basing it on both clubs current form and having watched well dismantle my team on the 1st, if they play anywhere near that they’ll beat an Inverness team who are going through a real tough patch, don’t see them ending that tomorrow (if it goes ahead)
I only do singles(well, i put a small hit on doubles and trebles from singles) and Val is in there as well as is Granada at 2/1. I dont bet on cup games. But Motherwell are included.
Leyton orient 9/5 @ ladbrokes
Already backed well the other day Paul. So nice to see u on board as well. Hate to say it but I also think dundee utd look good value at evens to beat my hibs on Sunday! We’re in good form but still got zero quality and I reckon physically were shattered utd should give us the run around with their legs and win quite easily! :(
Yep, I always choose a Mr F single. Some losers mostly winners and a decent place to start a singles list for the day imo.
No Mr F, not usually, I ALWAYS call it wrong with them that’s what my Main bet tomorrow will be Ross county, haha! Na seriously, I
Don’t usually back for us or against us( obviously the occasions I have backed against us we won) our away record is woeful but there won’t be much better opportunities to win away than at county! They got a huge result in the highland derby though! It’s a tough one to call!

Greg, teams raise their game for derbies, not been impressed by County.
Javi Guerra to score at anytime 5/4 ladbrokes
Valladolid vs Betis
Heard anything at the record Paul about Leigh Griffiths signing for Celtic. I just got a text saying he was going for 1.5 million!
Sparky, he’s being tipped to leave Wolves but I’ve not heard that – not in the office tonight. Can you believe the text?
Very true Paul, hopefully they are back to their usually tomorrow!
Tell you what, tomorrow’s card is horrible! Will be keeping stakes small and will be trying to avoid the FA Cup if possible!
A good choice for the SS. On it as usual, and would just like to add, that I’m in favour of the new points system.
Just looking at tomorrows games, and apart from the FA Cup, their’s not a great deal to go at. I’m limiting my bets on the cup to the goals market.
I was looking at the Conference games and one that stands out is Alfreton away at Barnet. Alfreton seem over priced @ 14/5 when you consider current form. Alfreton have won their last five games, whilst Barnet have lost their last three. In fact Alfreton have won nine of their last twelve. Barnet have won three of their last seven though, BUT, they’ve been against the bottom two teams (Dartford twice and Hyde once) No real test. In fact Barnet haven’t had a decent win since they beat Kidderminster in early November.
Alfreton to win @ 14/5 Bet365
Alfreton BTTS and win @ 11/2 Coral
Alfreton to win 2-1 @ 12/1 Bet365
Proceed with caution though. There could be a reason for these seemingly inflated prices, but I haven’t found one as yet.
It’s quite credible Paul comes from a fellow hibby and I think his source is probably griffiths family.
Sparky, been told Lennon has shot that down – but I suppose you never say never.
No one has mentioned the mighty Lecce at 7/10.
Not surprised to see morton backed tomorrow Paul. Shiels made a few signings and dumbarton lost their centre half whose gone back to sheff utd. Hard to back the ton on form but apparently played well at hamilton other day and would think theyd start to pick up now. Still probably worth a small single at just over 2/1. Any thoughts?
Hi Mr F…does the 1-5 scale reflect the amount stake? Could you break down how you got to a profit of £21? Thank you
Tanna, sorry that’s not right. Two singles at £10 unit stakes – one 2pt loser £20. One 4pt winner £82 – profit £62.
Cardiff 5.5 hull 3.2 Ipswich 1.85. Patent for purpose
Greg the fa cup tomorrow throwing up some oppotunitys. Only happens couple times a yr get on…. Oooossssshhhhhhh!,,
Sparky, if the games goes ahead I’ll be on Morton to win the match and a another bet on over 1.5 Morton team goals!
If griffiths comes back to scotland only place he will come to is easter rd. Plus you would get him for a lot less than 1.5 mill.
Yeh pitch at dumbarton isn’t the may west unfortunately probably highly unlikely to make it! :( Been plenty of money for Morton who were 11/4 earlier in the week and13/8 draw no bet
Greg, fair enough not to bet on your team but what’s the reasoning behind County? I know Saints are awful playing away but still somehow i don’t trust county. Maybe it’s just me
Can anyone help here? I had Leigh Griffiths to score first in 1-20 mins with bet365. He didnt start but came on in the second half. Shouldnt the bet be void? Bet has been settled as a lose..
You,ll get your cash back
placeyourbets, should be void so get on to them.
I was at fir park on New Year’s Day and for the record St johnstone really weren’t that bad and created plenty of opportunities. Never been to a game where the woodwork got rattled so much by both teams. For my money saints are too short at Dingwall tomorrow but I couldn’t back the staggies who are just miserable to watch! Sorry greg.
I’ll be on Motherwell but I’ll also be putting some cash on Lionel Ainsworth to score Anytime for Motherwell.
He’s scored in the last 4 games and seems to be in Super Form at the moment.
4/1 is the Best Price for him to score Anytime at BetVictor. Seems to good to pass up.
Stefano, it has been settled as a loss and its not showing in my balance..
Just chase the up,they are at it
Cheers Mr F, will give them a call!
Another big win for me tonite. My tips are the best. Put 50 on 1 nil gillingham. Really fancied them plus a low scoring game. Amazing
Had £10 on Gillingham to win how they did I will never know.Wolves totally controlled the game but not complaining a win is a win.
Mr f. Do u have any bets u like in Newcastle Cardiff game
Gbjefr, would favour Newcastle but there is of course the Solskjaer factor.
Stuart, good call on Guerra
Man City,Huddersfield and Aberdeen on bet freds away the lads coupon, pays just over 4/1.easy dough me thinks
Never seen you tip that on here Will you fool. What’s your great tips for tomorrow then??
Jay Rodriguez to score against his old club burnley 8/5 looks a bet to me
Tommy, Ive not tipped county mate, was just joking that I should put them as my main bet because when I back against saints they win! I don’t think there will be many people backing county tomorrow, they’ve really struggles this season! Sparky, was certainly the most woodwork hits I’ve ever seen in a match, it could have ended 6-4! Totally agree with you mate, saints should win but a risky bet!
Right thats that sorted! Get my bet refunded. Also found out i was eligible for a free bet that i just managed to claim over the phone and they have credited me with £200 + my refund!
He did say I’d have to bet £950 of it, how would this work? Anyone have any ideas?
placeyourbets, it’s the amount you need to stake before you can lift any winnings from the free bet. Basically stops people opening accounts, using the free bet and disappearing.
Right, how do i separate my real money from the free money? is there an option when placing a bet?
Pitch inspection at the ‘well at 8am tomorrow, should go ahead! Hopefully I’ll be able to grab evens in town tomorrow.
Lay bet
Watch game with a couple of pints
Collect winnings
That’s the plan! Good luck to all, looking forward to the treble pick too, not easy! NO one is a gimme in the cup this weekend not even City!
Could anybody think of some games that would be over 1.5 goals tomorrow…
Trying to recoup £450 that was layed out altogether on the wolvez game
Btts and win double arsenal 5-2 and motherwell4-1 10pds. Returns 175 not bad william hill get on it
I’m surprised by the lack of people backing Clyde at home to Queens Park at 3/4. Any reasons?
John T, it’s as I’ve said before no team in the SPFL lower leagues can be considered a banker. I expect Clyde to win having said that.
Kidderminster lost 6-0 away to luton in there last game
Kidderminster last 8 matches won 3 lost 5
Peterborough last 10 matches won 4 draw 1 lost 5
Peterborough have conceded 12 goals in 5 games and scored 7
Kidderminster have conceded 14 goals in 5 games and scored 4
Peterborough have had a poor run of games lately losing 3 league games in a row however won there round 2 fa cup game 5-0 at home to tranmere and i think they will be too good for lower opposition. Posh will be looking to bounce back from 3 consecutive losses and it could be a tough game at kidderminster as they have lost just 2 games at home all season, but i think posh will be too good for lower opposition
Tip
Peterborough to beat Kidderminster
Currently 19/20 (william hill)
Also a bet i would advise tommorow 3pm is Nadal v Monfils in the qatar open final
Nadal had dropped 2 sets in the tournament, monfils has dropped 0 sets on his way to the final
Nadal will be too strong for Monfils but as hes yet to drop a set i can see him getting one against Nadal
Nadal 2-1 Monfils currently 10/3 (ladbrokes)
Good Luck!
Just read through Mr F’s FA cup team news and there are some crucial team news ahead of tomorrows fixtures!
Newcastle v Cardiff
Newcastle are without several key players through injury and suspension and Cardiff have just appointed a new manager in Ole Gunner Soljaer.
Cardiff look good value @ 9/2
Bolton v Blackpool
Bolton are up against a Blackpool side who are without a win in 7 and many of their players have returned to their parent clubs. The FA cup looks the least of Blackpool’s priority’s given their form in the league.
Bolton @ 23/20
Stoke v Leicester
This has the potential for an upset here. Stoke are without several players through suspension and injury (see FA cup team news thread). Leicester are in good form with 4 wins on the trot and have already proven their worth in cup games, reaching the quarter finals in the Capital One cup.
Leicester @ 14/5
Kidderminster v Peterborough
This one is a tough one to call but for some reason I believe League 1 side Peterborough have enough about them to go out and beat Conference side Kidderminster. They will be boosted by the return of Lee Tomlin their 2nd top scorer with 9 goals this season. Put Tomlin together with top goal scorer Britt Assombalonga who has 16 goals so far with 4 coming from FA cup games.
Peterborough @ 10/11
By all means, it is the FA cup after all and anything can happen!
Fourfold pays 85/1
Alfreton look great value for a team who have won their last 5 against a team who have lost 4 of their last 5. Alfreton also beat Barnet 3-1 in the reverse fixture earlier this season and @ 5/2 are surely worth a few quid.
adding luton and Motherwell makes up a tidy treble that pays around 11/1
Although I’ve backed Motherwell, as far as I can remember, Hughes actually has a decent record at fir park. I’ve not looked at this but I’m a hibee and can remember picking up decent results there. Apart from the 6-4 or whatever it was
Mr F, Put o higgins (won 1 nil) and Motherwell with Luton in £200 treble, could be on a winner? going on form, fingers and toes crossed ? Pays around £1600
Mr.F what do you think about these games?
atl madrid 2
motherwell 1
man city 2
everton 1
clyde 1
luton 2
numancia 1
6/7 system
10 euro?
Im sorry if im bothering u
Endrit, all have been tipped by me except Man City who are pretty obvious and the Spanish teams and I haven’t look at those games yet.
Stranraer over 1.5 team goals
Bolton over 1.5 team goals
Yeovil match over 2.5 goals
Halifax @ 6/4 on hills
Unbelievable value 5th vs 22nd
Really tough card tomorrow, with very little standing out! Will be small stakes for me! Here’s my thoughts!
Dumbarton v Morton ( if on)
I mentioned earlier today that Morton under new boss Shields has made a a number of signings, one being David Robertson from St
Johnstone! By all accounts they were unlucky to lose against Hamilton and it’s just a matter of time before they get a win! Shields is a good manager and will still feel he can keep them up! Tomorrow is an ideal opportunity and they are a great price double chance
Back Morton double chance 3/4
Back Morton 23/10 ( small stakes)
Back over 1.5 Morton teams goals 6/4 ( small)
Bolton v Blackpool
Despite picking up just one point from their last two matches freedman will be pleased they have started scoring again, it’ll be defending that will give cause for concern having lost 5 at Leicester and 2 against a rejuvenated Middlesbrough! They welcome a Blackpool side who are on a horrible run, they have lost 6 of their last 7, have picked up just one point and scored just three goals! There have certainly been goals between these two in previous meetings and maybe the cup will will see Blackpool’s misfiring strikers back on the scoresheet! Bolton have only lost one of their last 9 at home ( a lot of draws ) but there’s been enough about them in matches against tough opposition to suggest they will have the beating of a struggling Blackpool side!
Back Bolton 11/10
Bolton over 1.5 teams goals 11/10
Exeter v Mansfield
It’s only a matter of time before Exeter fans see their team win at home, they have lost 4 and drawn one of their last 5 and come into this off the back of a great Derby win at Torquay! Mansfield have improved recently but going to side with the home team!
Back Exeter 5/4 ( small stakes)
Greg, of those 3 I like Bolton best.
So what do u think should i play Man city, Atl madrid and Numancia or not ?
Thank u very much and sorry for bothering u again
Endrit, I’m saying I haven’t looked at the Spanish games so I can’t say at the moment. If you like them back them – Man City should be OK.
i’ve done the man city and atleti double. pays 0.99/1 with hills.
They’ll be my main bet of the day Mr F along with Morton if it’s on!
Apart from that will be a couple of over 2.5 goals lines! See what the FA cup can conjure up!
Bankies game off tomorrow?
Greg, home to Glenafton, pitch inspection in the morning. Unless there’s no rain all night it’s got no chance.
Hi mr fix it have you thought about a league of top tipsters for the month or over a longer period. This would help newcomers to the site as well as regulars not to miss out on tipsters on form. Don’t know how this would work with administration, but just a thought. Thanks to all the regular tipsters and yourself, cheers
Drdylan, we have thought about but it’s administrative nightmare. Reading the comments you quickly identify those who do well and at the end of the day it’s all about the reasoning as well.
That’s a great idea drdylan!
Thanks mr f for your reply, it was just a thought. As you say you do get an idea about who wins more than loses. It can be hard to keep track on the winners and losers over a period as so many bets are presented. Maybe the members could keep a running total themselves and log it on their post with their predictions. Thanks again mr f and mr t.
FA CUP BTTS
stoke vs Leicester 8/11
Blackburn vs man city 10/11
Boro vs Hull 4/5
Ipswich vs preston 10/11
southend vs millwall 7/10
Any comments on these would be good most of the btts on the card have good odds so finding them out could prove to be a nice earner
Avast there mateys, preparing the cannons, going to be firing another line on the btts/win coupon with my old sea friend Coral.
Tough to find predictions that look good this week, hard enough picking winners let alone goals and winners, but here’s the one’s I’m considering
Orient (away to Yeovil)
Coventry (away to Barnsley)
Both similar in that these two teams often feature in high scoring matches and both arrrrre away to struggling championship sides. Not a given by any means, but the booty on offer at 4/1 each be very tempting indeed.
Next two options
St Johnstone (away to Ross County) 15/4
Halifax (away to Tamworth) 17/5
Both these teams arrrrrre favourites, if not massively, and again both have been in some high scoring encounters of late.
The other two options from the crows nest involve Man City away to Blackburn and Valencia at home to Levante. Man City ought to win, but still haven’t stoppped leaking goals. The odds on this one arrrrre shorter than the others at 9/5. Meanwhile Valencia’s home matches average over 3 goals and I fancy them to edge this match, 23/10 on this one.
Anyone wanting to bet I advise small stakes and make use of the trixies/yankees/canadians.
NEWPORT is my ss 4/5 at home to a struggling Northampton
Will add Luton 7/10 and Gateshead 3/10
longer odds wins small money
Halifax 6/4
Nuneaton 5/4
Exeter 11/10
I think notts Forrest are a great bet Sunday. Motherwell tomorrow for me although hate doing early games
After wolves getting pumped put a single on o ‘Higgins. Put the winnings on Benfica and Porto at home on the cup but won’t mention my stake.
Good luck all tomorrow
I still fancy Motherwell to win but one note of caution…Mr F you suggest in your article that you’re not entirely sure where the spark has come from for Well’s 5 game winning streak and it is indeed many variables such as McCall, Faddy, Ainsworth a bit of luck etc.. but also the addition of emergency loan Keeper Dan Twardzic from Dundee. We hastily recruited him to cover a GK crisis … 5 games ago…. He has been sensational and yes started in nets in every one of the 5 wins. Clearly we have been on fire at the other end however with Dan away back to Dundee we will have Gunnar Neilsen back from injury between the sticks.Dan was surprisingly good as he had never started a senior game at any level until his Motherwell debut at the start of the run, he was small but oozed confidence that seemed to spread to the defense, all I’m saying is the same can’t be said for bug Gunnar…!
I whacked a £10 on gillingham with 5minutes to go last night at 18/1 and went bed. Awoke this morning to find a nice surprise. Motherwell it is then!!!
Motherwell match called Off.
Has the Motherwell match just been called off? Betfair have taken the match off and refunded my stake!
Motherwell match is off as waterlogged pitch.
http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2014/01/04/inverness-ct-match-off/
Are you posting a new super single on the back of the Well game being called off?
single for me is Wigan 4/5 at home to MK Dons.Wigan cup holders and after win at Derby will have their tails up.
Paul Benson anytime for Luton 13/10 SS shout surely with him scoring for fun
Halifax 6/4
Anyone know if Mr.F has tweeted a new super single? Im not on twitter so any help appreciated.
Motherwell game postponed now Mr F. Any other tips?
Mr w, just back from walking the dug and heading out again. I’ll have a look at an alternative when I get back but Bolton and West Brom are possible alternatives.
@ Big Col he hasn’t tweeted a new Super Single yet
Alfreton looks good to me as SS
My SS for today – Newport County -1 2/1 @ bet365
I’m sticking with GRIMSBY at 4/1 in places to upset Hudd’field. The players play in the Conference but are professionals.
Stranraer to beat Ayr utd at Evs will be my big bet for today
Stoke 13/10
Does anyone think Macclesfield will win against Sheffield Wednesday?
I had a good day nice wee earner, great site
