DON'T know what's more exciting – today's first-round draw for our tipster contest or the transfer window closing.

There are bound to be some interesting deals done today and betting comparison site Oddschecker.com have revealed that Deadline Day man Jim White has become such a legend bookies have opened up special markets on the Scot for the day.

Odds on White’s first cliche sees “A Sky Sports exclusive” as 7-2 favourite, along with “the clock is ticking”.

If you think things will hot up around Gary Hooper early in the evening you can get 100-1 on White saying “Gary Hooper is the talk of the town” as his first cliche.

Excitement around White’s appearance on the night is as such that bookies have also opened a market on what colour of tie the Sky Sports presenter will wear. Blue and yellow are the frontrunners at 5-4 and 6-4 respectively and we all know blue is the colour for Jim!

As a spurs fan it would be cracking to see someone like Hooper make his move to the lane

I always remember these cliche betting specials. It was a good few years ago and it was either the World Cup or euros I can’t remember. England had won a game with Rooney scoring, it could even have been a double but i jut remember he was the main talking point of the English team as he was doing really well. The next day there was a different game on and they had prices for anytime cliche with Paddy Power. Knowing that the commentators regularly talk about England even when they are not acting I was surprised when I seem the Cliche “Wayne Rooney” at odds of 2/1. I stuck £100 on it and it won within about 5 mins lol

if there was a world of footballing surveyors hooper would not be sold for more than 6.5m as thats how much jelavic left rangers for and jelavic all round is a better quality player so its beyond me why lennons asking for more. he must have seen jelavic leaving last yr for 6.5m so he needs to be realistic. if the player wants to leave then i think about 5.5 million is the players worth .

  6. Chris Guy 11 years ago

Man utd just put in a £12m bid for hooper!!

  7. Chris Guy 11 years ago

Ok joke about man utd bid.

Callum you’re having a laugh right? You seriously think Jelavic is a better player than Hooper?

Celtic have already knocked back a third Norwich bid. Celtic don’t need to sell Hooper, end of. It will have to be a decent amount to let him go.

  8. John Henderson 11 years ago

Jelavic your having a laugh 6.5 million Everton were robbed they paid 3 million too much.

  9. Callum Giffen 11 years ago

hating both halfs of the old firm i cant say i enjoyed watching my team against either but on the games i seen jelavic is on a different level to hooper. scot macdonald has a better scoring ratio than hooper when he was at celtic and you seen were his career went after celtic.

hoopers a good player and a finisher nothing more. hes a good to decent old firm player but hes nothing more than championship level in engalnd .

  10. Callum Giffen 11 years ago

john henderson its not celtic you support is it??.

ask any non old firm fan here and i would be pritty confident 3 outta 4 would say jelavic.

    what does mr fixit think??

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Callum, as you guys know I don’t support Celtic or Rangers and I hope this debate doesn’t generate into an Old Firm slagfest. Purely from a football viewpoint on current form I’d take Hooper. Jelavic had a great start at Everton but has gone completely cold and strikers have spells like that. But for me Hooper has the potential to be the better player, although he’ll have to prove it when he goes to the EPL.

  11. Eddie 11 years ago

Jelavic is a better all round player
    Hooper is a good finisher
Kris Boyd was a great finisher did that make him a great player??????

  12. suzie 11 years ago

Oh no,please please no more old firm bias talk on here …Get enough of it on most sites..so please keep it free from my favourite tipping site…

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Suzie, so far this debate’s OK but we’ll keep an eye on it. As you know Old Firm warfare is banned here despite many an attempt to take it over. But the Hooper talk on transfer deadline day is fair enough. And Celtic must fear the worst if they’re lining up Johnny Russell as reported in the Record today.

  13. John Henderson 11 years ago

Team i support is irrelevant i would have Hooper in my team before Jelavic all day long. My opionion only am sure others will disagree thats football.

  14. John 11 years ago

I’m disappointed Hooper let down my anytime scorers treble last night, Celtic scored 4 and he didn’t manage to get 1, must have had a bad night

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

John, apparently Hooper played really well overall but missed a few chances.

  15. AC 11 years ago

As a Chelsea fan i know about mis-firing strikers and Jelavic is one of them at the moment … I would be quite happy if Chelsea took a punt on Hooper, that lad knows where the goal is

  16. kenny mooney 11 years ago

Hooper didn’t look an 8 million striker on Sunday vs st mirren and wanyama Didnt look man utd quality

  17. Don 11 years ago

We’ve (Norwich) apparently met Celtics 8m valuation with a 4th bid and it’s now down to the player.

May sound a bit steep, but if he comes and scores the goals to keep us in the Prem, then 60+Mil sounds like a good return!

    Fingers crossed! :)

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Don, I think he’ll leave if Celtic are letting him go so now it probably depends on whether Spurs come in.

  18. Milesey 11 years ago

Ligue 1 giants Marseille are understood to have rejected a bid for defender Rod Fanni from Stoke City, according to reports in France. ;) ;)

Trying to replace one Fanni with another as it seems Crouch is on his way to QPR.

    Milesey.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Milesey, you don’t miss a trick. I hear the lad Fanni’s a crack hitman.

    • Milesey 11 years ago

      haha ;)

What big moves do you see happening today ?

      Milesey.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Milesey, ask Jim White. Obviously QPR are doing plenty of business and Man City will have the Balotelli cash burning a hole in their pockets. Hooper could be on his way which will mean Russell could go to Celtic and Negredo, who I rate, is talking to Everton. But there will be others. On the late shift at the Record tonight so it could be an interesting shift.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Milesey, we gotta watch those jokes in case they are misconstrued.

    • Milesey 11 years ago

      ;) ;) you laughed though.

      Milesey.

Transfer news: QPR stump up record fee for Christopher Samba

The Beast is back QPR needed someone to plug the back up.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Steveo, that’s a great signing for Redknapp although he’s done a decent job of keeping it tight at the back in recent league games.

  20. gary callaghan 11 years ago

i hear norwich are bk in for hooper with a 4th bid. im a celtic man and i,d hate to see him go at this stage in the season. enjoy the rest of the season and enjoy the champions league gary my bhoy. i understand he will need to go to further his career and england prospects. as i believe he will play for england soon enough.

  21. Eddie 11 years ago

Norwich have done a swap deal and have got Becchio from leeds

    • Milesey 11 years ago

With ex stevenage FC player Steve Morrison going the other way.

      Milesey.

  22. Eddie 11 years ago

    Is morrison any good?

  23. Milesey 11 years ago

Yes he is a decent player, wales international player.

    Milesey.

  24. robert miller 11 years ago

always love it when a guy with awesome fitness levels can still compete. Becks has signed for PSG

  25. AC 11 years ago

Becks is not taking a salary either … Its all going to a kids charity .. top bloke!

  26. robert miller 11 years ago

it will be the sheer love of just competing that will make him still want to be involved

don,t know whether its true but he may be one of the very few guys ever to have reached all 21 levels on the BLEEP TEST

  27. Arnie 11 years ago

if Hooper signs for norwich, where will i go for anytime scorers, EPL is no Scottish League???/

  28. Don 11 years ago

Seems my *apparently* post was just that. I really wish we’d just stop jerking Celtic around and stump up the money.

    Can’t see it happening now….. :(

  29. John Henderson 11 years ago

Never say never Don if cash is right Celtic will let him go but does Hooper want to go ?

  30. Knottsy 11 years ago

Jelavic is on a different level to hooper. Of all the players who have left old firm to go south of border he is playing at highest level at Everton, while Norwich chase hooper.
However the amount Everton paid for Jelavic is irrelavent to Hooper. Hooper is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for him. If Norwich are willing to pay 8 or 9 million then thats what he’s worth to them, doesnt mean he’s better than a player who costs less. If that was the case then Torres and Andy Carroll would be one of the best forward partnerships ever!! :)

  31. Knottsy 11 years ago

    Dont matter now!
