PUNTERS up and down the country will be looking to end January with a winning line – so let’s hope this weekend’s SFL treble comes up trumps.
We don’t have a full card to play with because of League Cup semi-final fixtures but that shouldn’t stop us from giving the bookies a bashing.
We start off in the Irn-Bru Second Division and focus on Arbroath’s trip to face Brechin.
After a disappointing run of results the Gayfield men bounced back to winning ways in spectacular fashion last weekend as they thumped Albion Rovers 6-1.
They will be looking to keep their promotion push on track this weekend as they square up to a Brechin side they have defeated in three of the last four meetings between the clubs.
Arbroath go into this one 12 points ahead of their hosts and I reckon they can extend that gap even further.
Take an away win for Arbroath as the first side in our SFL treble at 6-4 with Bet365.
We stay in the Second Division and concentrate on Cowdenbeath’s home clash with Albion Rovers.
Beath proudly top the table and go into this match a massive 20 points ahead of the Cliftonhill men.
Despite a disappointing run of results in recent weeks the Blue Brazil have defeated Rovers in the last six clashes between the clubs – I am taking them to go seven up this weekend. Go for a Cowdenbeath triumph at 1-2 with Skybet.
We finish up in the Third Division and one of my top tips this season – Stranraer. After a great run of results the Blues crashed back down to earth last weekend as they were thrashed 4-0 at home to title rivals Alloa.
But they can recover from last week’s disappointment by running out winners over this weekend’s visitors to Stair Park, Elgin. Stranraer have won three of the last four meetings between the sides and I think they can edge a hard-fought encounter this weekend.
Take Stranraer as the final team in this weekend’s SFL treble at 5-6 with Coral.
For those of you looking for a safer treble, Alloa to win at home to Montrose (6-10, William Hill), Annan at home to East Stirling (4-11, widely available) and Cowdenbeath (1-2, Skybet), looks tempting but won’t pays a biggest £31.70 to a £10 stake at Coral.
