ON to Tuesday’s card and I can’t but help notice the game at Gigg this evening – it may be the EFL Trophy but it could be well worth putting on the games with goals list.
Bury v Leicester U21s
Despite the early and pre-season scepticsm the Shakers find themselves knocking on the door of the play-off places which most honest fans would say is beyond their hopes and aspirations for a campaign that looked pretty bleak from the outset.
If we could actually defend it would be an even better picture but the fact is we can’t! We have looked better going forward and have shown a bit more resilience from losing positions but just 2 clean sheets in 14 matches points to a suspect defence that will likely struggle under the scrutiny of a free-scoring Leicester youth side.
The alternative Foxes have hit the net twice in each of the four EFL matches played since November last year with each game being pitched against similar sides to Bury in the shape of Fleetwood, Oldham, Scunthorpe and Morecambe on the road.
It’s likely we’ll make a good few changes as a result of our usual wafer-thin and injury-hit squad so I can hardly see it being a war of attrition with both sides' players looking to go for it from the off – I can see goals and I can see both contributing!
