Rizz managed to land a winner on Tuesday in the shape of Flic Ou Voyou who won nicely in the end under jockey Danny McMenamin.
Flic Ou Voyou at one point looked a tad in trouble after a shady jump in the business end of the contest but he responded to Dannys urgings and picked up well to win going away.
Rizz can probably count himself a tad unlucky to not land a double yesterday with For Pleasure hitting the crossbar at Fakenham after looking the most likely winner for a long way. The eventual winner Bluegrass came off the bridle a fair way from home but stayed on best of all the land the spoils.
I haven't had much time this evening to study tomorrow's card, Santa duties coming to the fore at this time of year. I have came across one horse that I fancy to run a good race and it comes in the jumps meeting at Warwick.
Rubber Ball 9/2 – Warwick 1.35
I was about to start my write up with saying you can immediately assume this is a three horse race but given we had not one but two 100/1 winners yesterday at Lingfield, I'll swiftly retract that statement.
Unfortunately, I've missed out on the opening price of 7/1 on my selection for this contest, but at 9/2 he still looks an attractive price if you are one for taking on the market principles.
The horse that I like the look of is Rubber Ball for trainer N B King and jockey Jack Quinlan. My selection has only raced the two times in his short racing career which resulted in him winning a P2P on debut by a comfortable 4L. Rubber Ball was then put away over the summer and made his seasonal reappearance at Cheltenham last month, running an encouraging race after a layoff to finish fifth of fourteen. Rubber Ball was soundly beaten by just over 7L in that contest, however, the form of that race reads quite well with the winner and runner-up filling the top two slots in a Listed contest during the recent November Cheltenham meeting.
The current market leader is Barlovento, and you can understand right away why this horse is favourite coming into this contest. The jockey and trainer combo is an obvious starting point but Olly Murphy's charge also has hurdle experience, whereas my selection does not. Barlovento remains completely unexposed and open to obvious progression but he does have to concede 8lb to Rubber Ball which could possibly be a tough enough task given my selection takes to hurdling.
When I said Santa duties are coming to the fore, I do not mean I’m dressing up as Santa in your local shopping malls! Although the ol gut is starting to resemble Mr Clause.. at least I won’t need a fat suit if MFT sack me off in the next week or so…
Good luck to all for tomorrows racing and well done all winners yesterday!
Are you feeling alright cairnzy 🤔
