Tuesday’s Racing Tips – Special Acceptance is ready to pounce after a promising return

Cairnzy's runner on Monday didn't quite live up to the ability of his half-brother Altior. He was quite keen early on and his jumping wasn't assured, before weakening later on in the race.

Special Acceptance 11/8 – Huntingdon 1.25

The veteran's races always throw up a cracking race, and I think this lower-graded veterans' race will no doubt be a cracking race. The horse I am interested in is Special Acceptance, who ran a belting race to finish behind my selection last time out, and that piece of form is the main reason for backing Special Acceptance today.

I tipped up a chase debutante from the David Pipe yard last time out at Uttoxeter and it was very evident that the winner was well-handicapped for his first chase start, so for Special Acceptance to finish as close as he did, makes it a very respectable performance. It was his first start for his new trainer Billy Aprahamian, and there was a solid amount of money in for him last time out on seasonal reappearance. The top two pulled well clear of the rest of the field, which normally bodes well for the form.

I don't think this race is as strong as it looks. The Wolf is obviously of interest now he is racing in these types of races, but he jumps like a snooker table and will make a big blunder or two during his races as he has done for most of his chasing career. The Olly Murphy horse also has to prove his race fitness, as do a few others, so I thought it was a fairly straight forward pick for this.

Mistymal 5/2 – Hereford 1.50

Another horse that has been in a race of a previous selection of mine is Mistymal, but this time, today's selection got the upper hand over my fancy. Mistymal was extremely well-supported last time out on chase debut when beating selectivelistening, who is a very difficult ride.

When the money came in for Mistymal over today's C&D a few weeks back I did get a bad feeling for my fancy in the same race. Tim Vaughan hasn't had the best of seasons so far, with only a couple of winners, so when the strong money started to flood in, they knew they had a great chance with a horse who was simply ahead of the handicapper on his fist start over fences.

To no surprise, the stable hasn't had a winner in the last fourteen days, but as this horse proved last time out, that doesn't matter. Given we already know this horse is in good form, as he did win nicely in the end, after travelling nicely into contention before turning for home. He has only gone up 4lbs in the handicap for that win, so I believe there is a bit more to come before he catches up with him.
