A winner and a place saw the L15 go down as a loser yesterday, annoyingly Next Left was overlooked at the expense of Police Academy who as hinted at, was probably better caught last time.

With a few nice meetings to come this month hopefully,we'll be able to land a few nice bets, but that is very unlikely to be today. I was encouraged to see a couple of you posting yesterday, keep me up to date with your fancies.

For Monday, I almost went with a banker bet, but the selections are there for all to find. Instead, I've gone the other way, with selections all carrying risks. Of course, this worked for us recently but in all seriousness, this may be the worst four I've put together so don't get too carried away.

Attacanter Racing Tips

Soul of Spain 7/1 5 places – 18.45 Roscommon

Joseph O'Brien has a great record here, with nearly half of his 87 runners placing over the last few seasons. I'm not sure how much that will actually count for anything regarding this runner, who has been very expensive to follow. He's lost at very short odds a good few times so his price now is alarming, we even most likely lose value given his connections. I am willing to chance given he seemingly gets weight for age and has been well thought of in the past.

His short 4 races career don't make him a total write-off with two 2nds and a 3rd, he's mixed it with enough winners so without assessing what he's up against, I'll side with the in form yard and hope I'm on the right one of his 8 entries. They have Prairie Angel who runs in the 19.15, the odds have seemingly been cut from 8s into 11/2 which is another I sided with this runner.

Gallivanted 16/1 – 17.30 Windsor

Had Good Banter 25/1 managed to keep his head in front of the odds on favourite last week, he might have been one of my very best selections ever.

It counts for nothing here, but he has inspired me to dip my toes into this sort of race once more, although a large slice of luck will be required to see him even have an impact. As such you are made aware and is one who can easily be swapped out.

I have to be honest, the main reasons for this selection is one, the name (GoT reference) and two, the fact this jockey/trainer landed me a 40/1 winner at Glorious Goodwood – albeit I got 25s and was fuming. With that said, the trainer does remain in OK form, he hasn't the best record here but landed us a 16/1 winner at York and owes us nothing. I see this as a daily slog, with everything balancing out in the end, so feel entitled to risk such a foursome.

The horse is one of two which is yet to see a race course, he is also wearing a tongue tie which does indicate he may have breathing problems. The trainer remains in absolutely sparkling form, he has a 7/2 runner here, Jungle Too which is clearly his main hope.

Maverick Style 9/1 3 places – 16.40 Chepstow

With 3 places paid, seven runners is always a bonus, but this does not look like a very profitable race type with two short priced favourites, we do seriously seem up against it to make the frame over a trip we are not seen over too often.

Hey Big Spender has been hammered in for a trainer amongst the winners. The bookmakers had this as a two horse race, Weston Court is the only ‘outsider' to shorten but on a day I really do not fancy anything too strongly, I will risk the selection given he does at least have a little bit of course form which can be important.

The trainer is a little out of sorts but had a decent spell here at this time last year, Sean Levey isn't used too often but was on a nice priced placed runner before. I can't risk his newcomer with Hector Crouch elsewhere but on his day, this horse is outrunning his price despite negative market vibes. If it's a total whitewash you can at least be sure I'll be leaving no stone unturned on Tuesday.

Kenstone 12/1 – 14.05 Chepstow

Kenstone is an 11yo, two of the places are ”accounted for” so again this on the face of it looks quite a poor pick, the trainer is only 45 minutes up the road and given this two day meeting, he is likely to have a few ready, whether old boy Kenstone is one of them, we can only hope.

We do only have to go back to June to see some half decent form from the likeable horse who I'm sure many of you may have chanced over the years. It is a slight concern to see him tried over 7f given how many times he is entered over a mile but he will be running off his lowest mark for quite a while and should at least be staying on rather than fading away.

He was nosed out of 2nd over the mile here in June to a horse who has won a couple since, I won't read too much into that but he was also a half length 2nd at this track, this time last year (over a mile) off 12lbs higher. I am not going to waste time justifying him, the selection isn't one I am proud of, none of these are but with plenty of warning, I won't lose any sleep.

WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?

A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:

– 1 fourfold accumulator

– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections

– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination

– 4 singles

The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
