Thursday's main play was a non-runner, probably due to the ground.
In some ways, it might have been a blessing as the winner in the three-runner field did it nicely in the end.
That left us with two runners, one at Sedgefield and the other at Ludlow.
Nicky Henderson's unbeaten run at Sedgefield came to an end under Brian Hughes…shock. The horse wasn't great on chasing debut over the fences, but I definitely think Hughes gave up before jumping the final fence. He then realised the leader had made a mistake and started to try again.
The Evan Williams chase debutante was in contention for the win. I think he would've stuck it out up the straight if she didn't clatter through the penultimate fence, resulting in a fall. I've not seen if she got up okay, so fingers crossed that she's home safe and sound.
Hard Dealt 9/2 (1pt) – Exeter 1.15
This looks like a very competitive race, and I would be surprised if a few of these don't improve massively throughout the season.
The one who stood out the most, and was worth a bet, was Hard Dealt.
She'll need to prove her fitness, as this is her first run since May, but I think she's worth the risk given the form of her runs and her handicap mark.
The second to Jaminska looks very solid. Jaminska recently finished third in a Grade 2, going down by less than a length.
This is Hard Dealt's handicap debut, so there is still plenty of room for her to progress off a handicap mark of 102, which is very low for a PTP winner.

Following the Dan Skelton yard this season has been very iffy, especially with their novice hurdlers, who have been gently handled.
I'd be worried if this was the first run of the season for Theonewedreamof, but it's not, and he made a good start to life over fences last time out.
On his first chase start for Dan Skelton, he finished in second but was given another held-up ride. It left the impression that there was a lot to come in the future.
That run at Chepstow was over 2m 3f, but today's trip is 3m. We don't know if this trip will suit, as he has never been over a distance this far, and wasn't a PTP horse.
However, Dan Skelton isn't one to judge or question when sticking a horse up in trip, especially when they are on a low handicap mark.
I get the impression this trip will suit, and this horse will be a fair bit ahead of the handicapper.
