THERE was a bit of talk on this site earlier in the week about SPL sack race betting – but not many people would have picked John McGlynn.
The Hearts manager lost his job yesterday although I did point out that anyone in charge at Tynecastle was constantly under threat.
Scottish bookies McBookie.com have installed former Hearts stars Colin Cameron (Cowdenbeath) and Paul Hartley (Alloa) as the 4-1 joint favourites to be next boss but it really is a poisoned chalice.
They are followed in the betting by 5-1 pair Gary Locke and Darren Murray who have been installed as caretaker managers. Other potential candidates include Allan Johnston and Derek McInnes who are 8-1 shots.
McBookie.com spokesman Paul Petrie said: “There are so many ex-Hearts players who are impressing in their first managerial roles that this is a very open contest. However, whether any of them would want to return to the madness of Tynecastle, could end up being the deciding factor.”
Odds: 4/1 Colin Cameron 4/1 Paul Hartley 5/1 Gary Locke,Darren Murray 8/1 Allan Johnston 8/1 Derek McInnes 10/1 Craig Levein 10/1 Steven Pressley 12/1 Jimmy Calderwood 12/1 Phil Brown 14/1 Jose Couceiro 14/1 Piote Nowak 14/1 Terry Butcher 16/1 Csaba Laszlo 16/1 Derek Adams 16/1 John Robertson 20/1 Gary Bollan 25/1 Davie Weir.
Allan moore anyone?
Gordy, surely Moore will want to stay at Morton and try to take them up.
Rasputin……………..think about it ? you need to be mad to take that job nowadays.
But maybe more realistic would be Paul Hartley
1plus2, as you say mad to take it although I suppose an out-of-work boss might jump at it. Might end up leaving Locke and Murray to the end of the season though.
Hopefully stay with us but no sign of new contract yet moore after this season
McGlynn was 5/2 favourite when I had a look & mentioned the market earlier in the week. Can’t say it came as a shock though as Hearts have been poor recently & Mad Vlad isn’t the most patient chairman to work for
I heard Rafa might be looking for something more permanent.
