COPA DEL REY second-leg action tonight as Sevilla look to defend their 3-1 lead after defeating Bilbao last week in the first leg.

I've highlighted before Bilbao's disciplinary problem and with this being a cup match we should see both sides aiding the card count.

Sevilla vs Athletico Bilbao (7.45pm)

The hosts can be pleased with their performance last week in the first leg and take a two-goal cushion into tonight's second leg against a Bilbao side who have it all to do to stay in the competition and at a ground where they have won a paltry two of there last 24 visits.

Bilbao lead the way in the crime count in Spain, averaging just under 4 cards per match is incredible. The last 7 meetings between the sides has yielded 40 cards which averages out at just under 6 cards per game and the last 6 meetings at Sevilla have seen a card count of 3-2 8-2 3-3 2-3 3-3 4-2

Sevilla are certainly not lacking in aggression in their play and are 5th in the card league avgeraging 3 bookings per match and with this being a second leg it definitely puts a more competitive spin on it

Both sides have plenty of candidates for players likely to be booked with a total 0f 11 players totalling 5 or more cards this season. When you look at the Bilbao team, there are 9 players on 4 or more cards and non more so than Dani Garcia.

The midfielder has already collected 9 bookings this season (4 in his last 5 games) and is now part of the “100 Club” – 100 career bookings – having collected another g during Sunday's league match against today's opponents.

That match on Sunday saw Bilbao run out 2-0 winners in what was another fierce encounter with 7 players booked. I'd expect more of the same tonight especially with what's at stake

The Betting Angle

Looked at a number of markets and there are two I really like the look of.

Both sides to get 2 or more bookings looks nailed on and has landed in the last 7 meetings between the sides and in Sevilla, the last 8 meetings have all seen both sides receive at least 2 cards.

You have two of the league's most aggressive teams who play each other for the 3rd time in a week, in a cup second leg and a fixture that see's an extremely high volume of cards

We should see plenty of cards for both sides.

Recommended Bets

  • Both sides to receive 2 or more cards
  • 4/5 (Skybet) (NAP)
  • Over 5.5 cards
  • 11/10 (Skybet)

Also keep an eye out inplay, there's is an incredible number of bookings late on in Spanish games. Bet365 offer over 1.5 cards between 80 mins and FT.
