The DP World Tour arrives back in Spain with this week's Open De Espana at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, Madrid, Spain.
The 132 field with the top 65 including ties making it to the weekend will all be competing for a share of the €1.75M prize purse with the winner collecting the Open de Espana title and a winner’s cheque for €297,500.
Rafael Cabrera Bello returns to defend his crown having won this event in 2021 when winning the play off against fellow countryman, Adri Arnau.
Club de Canpo Villa de Madrid will be playing 7,112 yards long this week, it’s a par 71 parkland layout where greens in regulation and then a hot putter to follow will be the key to success come Sunday afternoon.

The weather is forecast to be mostly sunny and warm throughout with some cloudy intervals. Breezes won’t cause any concern in Madrid this week peaking at around 7mph.
This event will be screened on Sky Sports Golf & Sky Sports Main Event with live coverage starting at 12.30 pm on Thursday afternoon.

Don’t bother with the Each Way this week as the price is so skinny so really no point, it’s just to win outright. I can’t ever recall a player being as short to win a golfing event pre tournament but he’s that price for a reason. I just can’t see anyone in this field over coming the still young and talented 27-year-old from Barrika in Spain.
Currently ranked World Number 6 after being at the top of the pile, no one in this field comes close to mirroring this kid's credentials. Where do I start with Jon Rahm?
Let’s start with Rahms best performances. Winner at last year's US Open to claim his maiden major victory at Torrey Pines then also a winner at far too many events to mention so I’ll give you the total.
Fourteen to be exact across both the PGA & DP World Tours. Which includes this title when winning the Open de Espana around here in his homeland in 2018.
I’m going to concentrate on Rahms form this year to see what he’s bringing to Madrid and what we can expect.
Runner up last time out in a very competitive field at Wentworth at the BMW PGA Championship, Runner up also at the start of the year at the Sentry Tournament of Champions,5th at the FedEx St Jude and winner at the Mexico Open at Vidanta Rahm has finished inside the Top 20 at thirteen of the eighteen events he’s entered this year with nine of those being inside the Top 10 and five of those Top 5 finishes. How he’s not won more this year we’ll never know. I’ll tell you this, I’m not going to bother with stats or figures for Jon Rahm this week but what I will say is he will not get beat this weekend in front of his home support.
If anyone can tell me who’ll stop him then I’m all ears, get on this week's NAP, Jon Rahm 12/5 who will win the Open de Espana in a canter.
Eddie Pepperell 28/1 EW 1-7 places Paddy Power
For my next suggestion, now that we’ve got Jon Rahm out of the way I’m going to look for some decent Each Way value and advise Eddie Pepperell 28/1 EW 1-7 places Paddy Power.
The 31-year-old Englishman from Oxford was one of my selections last week for the Alfred Dunhill Championship and although we never seen a return, he didn’t play all that bad finishing T28th on -6 across the three Scottish Links venues.
In his last eight tournaments steady Eddie has finished inside the Top 20 on no less than six occasions, on the other two he finished 28th as mentioned above and 32nd. He recently finished runner-up at the Hero Open and can use his expertise and experience to at least finish in amongst the places in Madrid this weekend.
Already a winner on the DP World Tour when victorious at the British Masters and the Qatar Masters which again is more than most in this field can boast, Steady Eddie could be a safe bet for Each Way punters this weekend in Madrid where the target will be a Top 7 place for any gains.
David Law 90/1 EW Bet365
For my next pick, again it’s the Each-Way value I’m after so I’ll point you all in the direction of David Law 90/1 EW Bet365.
The 31-year-old Scotsman from the Granite City of Aberdeen hasn’t been firing on all cylinders recently but does have a few fine performances worth a mention this year .T3rd at the Hero Open, T4th at the Irish Open and T7th at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, these are all Top 10 efforts and with a much weaker field this week, David Law if arriving in Madrid with that kind of form, could easily be in the winner's podium and in the place money.
He also has a DP World Tour title already in the bag when claiming the ISPS Handa Open in 2019 so he does own that winning mentality which only a few in this field can boast.
Again as I’ve already mentioned, it’s all about the place money as I just can’t see anyone stopping Jon Rahm, but at 90/1, David Law is definitely an option when thinking who’s the best of the rest and why not also look at a Top 20 place available at 11/4 with the same firm Bet365.
