The PGA Tour goes all Viva this week with the Shriners Children’s Open at TPC Summerlin, Las Vegas, Nevada.

The 144 field with the top 65 including ties making the cut will all be competing for a share of the $8M prize purse with the winner collecting the Shriners Children Open title and a  cheque for $1,260,000.

The stunning TPC Summerlin course will be playing 7,243 yards long this week, it’s a par 71 and as one would expect way out here in the desert, it’s a resort-style desert track.

Sungjae Im returns to defend the title he won at a canter around here in 2021 with an impressive winning scorecard reading 260 on -24.

With birdies plenty on the menu this week at TPC Summerlin the key attribute will almost certainly involve a hot putter with another key ingredient being long accurate Driving off the Tee.

The weather is forecast to be fantastic from start to finish with very warm and sunny conditions throughout. Breezes don’t really deserve a mention this week peaking at around 6-7mph.

This event will be screened on Sky Sports Golf & Sky Sports Main Event with live coverage starting at 2.30 pm Red button on Thursday afternoon.

So let’s move on with this week's betting tips for the Shriners Children’s Open.

Martin Laird 110/1 EW Bet365

For my first and main selection in Las Vegas, I’m putting most of my chips on a ranked outsider, Martin Laird 110/1 EW Bet365. The 39yrs old Scotsman from Glasgow represents terrific value in my book especially considering his record way out here in the Wild West. If you think that the 11th place for Martin Laird here last year is the best I can offer then think again.

The flying Scotsman was runner-up at this event in 2010, does it get any better? Yes, it sure does! And are the firms sleeping here?

Martin Laird who almost made it inside the Top 20 best players in the world won this event in 2009 and then went on to scoop it again only two editions ago in 2020. I actually don’t think these firms are aware of just how good the Glaswegian operates in these parts but keep it quiet for now or at least until you all form an orderly queue to collect.

With four PGA titles already safely in the bag, Martin Laird is certainly no novice as his price would suggest and with a fairly recent 3rd place finish at the Barracuda Championship, expect the Scot to again feel at home in the Nevada desert as he makes it a hattrick of Shriners Children’s crowns in Las Vegas this weekend. Viva Las Vegas.

Si Woo Kim 55/1 EW 10Bet

For my next best selection I’m going to again stick with the value and recommend Si Woo Kim 55/1 EW 10Bet. The 27yrs old from Seoul, South Korea is priced as short as 33/1 with some firms so 55/1 on the table could mean salt in the wounds for some as this talented kid could easily do what his friend Sungjae I'm done here last year.

With seven Top 20 finishes this year which include a very respectable T15th at the 150th Open Championship on the Old Course, St Andrews, I just have a feeling another victory is forthcoming for this talented kid.

On the stats front the figures that stick out for Si Woo Kim are the most important this week in Nevada, on the PGA Tour this year he ranks 7th in Total Birdies with 377.

Already with three PGA crowns to his name when winning the Wyndham Championship in 2016, The Players Championship in 2017 and the most recent victory last year when collecting The American Express in 2021. I’d say hurry up and take the 55/1 on offer before it’s gone like the wind.

Well, no wind this week but Si Woo Kim can breeze to victory in the desert this coming Sunday safe in the knowledge that just a place will return a tidy profit.

Davis Riley 50/1 EW SportNation

For my next pick, I’m going to point you all in the direction of Davis Riley 50/1 EW SportNation. I tipped the young 25-year-old to win the Sanderson Farms Championship last weekend and although he never won, he still played the event well eventually finishing inside the Top 20 with a 19th place effort. that’s now nine Top 20 efforts this year alone.

Still looking for that maiden breakthrough PGA Title, Davis Riley need not worry as that victory is imminent, it’s only a matter of time if you ask me .

He finished 13th at the US PGA Championship and then 31st at The US Open, both this year so it’s clear for all to see that this kid can play.

He was also an unlucky runner-up at the Valspar Championship a few months ago and other notable performances with a mention this year include 5th at the Mexico Open and T4th at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

With two victories over on the Korn Ferry Tour, Davis Riley knows what it takes to get the job done at the business end so nerves shouldn’t be a problem. Ranked 14th on the PGA Tour this year for Lowest Round at 66, 17th Going for the Green, Birdie or Better, at 73.33% 17th Greens in Regulation, at 71.30%16th SG Approach the Green, 14th Sand Save Percentage at 83.33% and finally 9th Proximity to hole from Sand, do you notice a trend, it’s all stats in the Top 20 on the PGA Tour.

Now with a desert theme, this week in Las Vegas expect those sand figures to stand firm as Davis Riley breaks onto the scene in style this weekend with a well-deserved maiden PGA Title when he’s crowned the Shriners Children’s Open Champion.

For my final selection, it’s the customary Match bet Nap when again both won last week including the Super Banker NAP. I’ll try to keep up the good form by advising Emiliano Grillo to beat Alex Noren who may be feeling the pinch after four long days of Links golf in Scotland and then the long flight to Las Vegas. It’s another Super Banker Match bet Nap 5/6 Bet365.

Apparently, Davis Riley has removed himself from this particular tournament to “recharge himself”.

    Any replacement recommendations?

Hi everyone, Davis Riley has withdrawn from the Shriners Children’s Open therefore I’ll take last years runaway winner Sungjae Im 12/1 EW 1-8 places Coral as a replacement since the tournament hadn’t started . Good luck 🤞⛳️
