MFT TopTips Safe 06

After 35 rounds of fixtures in the Scottish Championship nine of the ten team’s fate will be decided in one last 90 minutes of football.

Only Raith Rovers have nothing to play for tonight with the other teams vying for the title, play-off places and to avoid relegation.

Let’s start at the top…

It’s looked like no-one has wanted to win the Championship title at times this season. Five different teams have topped the table but with one game to go it’s Dundee who are at the summit. Avoid defeat at second placed Queen’s Park (game played at Stenhousemuir’s Ochilview Park) this evening and they’ll secure their return to the top flight.

The Spiders will be rueing a missed opportunity to go top last week when they lost 2-1 to Morton. That made it just one win in six for Owen Coyle’s side who have capitulated just when it mattered most. However, they’re still in with a chance and one last, huge performance could complete a remarkable rise up the leagues for Scotland’s oldest club.

Only a win will do for Queen’s Park and they’re 11/5 to pull it off. The Dark Blues are 10/11 to win and 2/7 to avoid defeat in the Double chance market.

In the Highlands things are pretty clear cut for Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Ayr United. Both teams are tied on 55 points but Ayr’s superior goal difference means they’re the ones sitting inside the play-off zone.

That means a win for either side will guarantee a top four spot. A draw could suit the visitors but that would leave them vulnerable to being overtaken by Morton who need to win at Cove.

Caley have been the form team in the division during the run-in and made it a season to remember when they booked their place in the Scottish Cup Final last weekend. They’re a very strong 11/8 to win tonight and set-up a thrilling climax to the season for their fans.

Partick Thistle will be confident of getting the win they need to book a top four slot when they make the trip to Kirkcaldy to face Raith Rovers.

The Jags’ only defeat in 12 has come at Inverness so they’ll go in to the play-offs in good shape.

Rovers have struggled to even fill their bench in recent weeks and it’s just as well they racked up a decent points tally earlier in the season as they’ve won just one point from the last 18 available.

Thistle shouldn’t slip up tonight at 4/6.

Both teams could suffer disappointment at the Balmoral Stadium tonight.

Visitors Morton (1/1) must win and hope other results go their way if they’re to end up in the play-offs.

Hosts Cove Rangers (11/5) are involved in a three-way battle to avoid the drop at the other end of the table and they too are reliant on how things go elsewhere.

A win for Paul Hartley’s side could be enough to secure Championship football again next season but not if Arbroath beat Hamilton.

It’s the Accies who occupy the automatic relegation spot at the moment and they’ve really struggled this season. They looked to have secured a priceless three points at home to Partick Thistle with an 89th minute strike but conceded in the 92 minute to deliver a hammer blow to their survival chances.

A point should be enough for Arbroath thanks to a huge goal difference advantage over Cove. Expect Dick Campbell’s side to try keep things tight for as long as they can at Gayfield tonight.

I’m just not convinced about Dundee tonight, although Queens Park have been poor of late, Dundee’s away form has been rank rotten.🤔

Hi Macca. What’s your thoughts on Liverpool to still make the top 4 mate? More hope than expectation now I’m guessing? I can see them winning all their remaining games to at least ask the question. It is only 7/2 but as the old saying goes “stranger things have happened”. Cheers.

Highly unlikely mate, Man Utd don’t have any top sides to play now after losing to Brighton, they are pretty consistent when it comes to beating teams in the bottom half of the table.

I’d give them no chance mate , even with our first choice centre backs out and not playing too great after and hectic schedule we’l still get enough points to get over the line , ten hag knows there’s still a load of work to be done over the summer , quite a few out and a few quality ones in and we go again next season….

Sailor I think 7/2 is a good bet personally.. I see Liverpool winning all their remaining games comfortably, and I see all 5 of ours as being potential banana skins.. West Ham, Bournemouth and Wolves ate either fighting relegation (WH) or playing well, and by the time we play them they may be able to play without fearing knowing they’re safe.. Chelsea are appalling but may have turned things around slightly by the time they come to OT, and let’s face it, their squad is good enough to cause us problems, and Fulham will want to avenge the FA Cup QF defeat, and Mitrovic should be back for it, so all in I see our games as a tough run in.. our saving grace might be that 3 of our last 5 games are at home.. but I still feel this bet will go very close, and at 7/2 looks a bit of value.. it might not be that price come Sunday night 😬

So your blaming injuries and a hectic schedule for poor performances, correct me if i’m Wrong here but wasn’t it you who said you can’t use any of them excuses for a teams poor performances. You’ll go again next season you’ll be challenging City 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Trent in midfield looks unplayable an absolute machine in that position (his original position). I can see now why Klopp opted out of paying the big bucks for Bellingham.

Macca I’ve never seen anyone talk so much rubbish from 1 week to another , only abit back that you was guna sign Bellingham now your not getting him you can understand why klopp opted not to sign him (that’s not the reason he chose another club) and it only took klopp 8 year to figure out that trent ain’t a defender lol

    • Avatar of mark edley

Trent has won the lot under Jurgen Klopp and Trent’s original position is midfield always has been, the way he’s playing in midfield there’s no need for Bellingham. Everyone thought Bellingham was coming to Liverpool even the bookies, Liverpool pulled out and only Klopp knows why one thing i will say though is they don’t often get their recruitment wrong. In Klopp we trust.

Have I woke up in a parallel universe 🫣 no need for Bellingham because TTA is in midfield 😂😂 maybe I’m picking this up wrong and I apologise in advance but are we suggesting that TTA is as good a midfielder as Bellingham?

Bellingham is an upgrade on any of the midfield at Liverpool

      2
    • Avatar of mark edley
      maccathered 2 years ago

Absolutely, Trents natural position is midfield, he’s been playing at right back under Klopp, now Klopp has decided to give him a free roll in midfield and he looks a lot better player for it, his passing is as good as it gets, you might laugh now but see what your opinion is next season.

Also worth pointing out how many assists he’s had in his last 5 games, there’s no wonder Real Madrid are keen on him World class player.

Keita,Jones,Henderson and Fabinho, are they also better than Bellingham again to make him not required?

Bellingham walks into Liverpool midfield sweatless

Your twisting things now smokey, Bellingham would walk into any team i never said he wouldn’t, judging by Trent’s new role in midfield i am guessing that is one of the reasons Liverpool pulled out of signing him Trent is still young also and he’s World Class, if he continues in this vein of form next season then opposition teams just aren’t going to cope with him, it makes Liverpool a different animal, hence the good form.

Give over macca , the reason you didn’t sign Bellingham is because of trent lol there totally different players , you still need about 2 or 3 midfield players , Bellingham just chose Madrid that’s all

I’m expect the 7/2 to shorten after Saturday as I expect Liverpool will beat Brentford. I think there’s twist and turns to come yet in the race for top 4.
I also realised I did Brighton a dis-servicce. They are in the mix too although they have a tough run in.

Always amazes me how site members post their OWN thoughts & recommendations for FREE, then other members give them grief if these recommendations don’t all come in.

If you were paying for these tips, you’d be entitled to moan. But you aren’t.

This site used to be really vibrant & have loads of posts from “regulars”. It’s a shame many of them have stopped posting due to a small number of fúckwíts.
