There should be an air of optimism around the Hawthorns tonight following the confirmation this week that West Bromwich Albion is under new ownership.
Florida-based entrepreneur Shilen Patel has outlined his ambition to make the club a “consistent Premier League presence” once again and a win tonight over Coventry City in the West Country Derby would keep the Baggies in the hunt for a play-off place.
Carlos Corberan has guided West Brom to fifth in the table but they’re still a long way behind fourth place Southampton who are 11 points ahead so it looks like they’ll need to fend off up to five clubs below them, down to Coventry in ninth, who are five points behind.
The Sky Blues impressed in a 5-0 win over sixth-tier Maidstone in the FA Cup on Monday to set-up a quarter final tie at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
They’ve lost just one of their last seven away from home (W4 D2 L1) so will be dangerous opponents for West Brom tonight. But the Baggies home form stands up too, they’ve won four of their last five at home and boast the fourth best home record in the Championship.
West Brom are 11/10 faves to win and the feel good factor around the new men at the helm could carry them victory in what should be an entertaining affair.
