Football Tips: Take a bow Villa & Spurs

Even at this early stage of the season there has been countless drama and on Sunday the sides to hog the headlines were Spurs and Aston Villa.

Spurs battered poor Man United 6-1 and if we thought that was unreal we then had the sight of Aston Villa thumping Liverpool 7-2 in one of the craziest games I've seen.

How can the champions conceded seven against a side who would have been relegated if the officials hadn't blacked out in Villa's game against Sheffield United. It's unexplainable.

Man United were in trouble from the minute Anthony Martial was red-carded but there was criminal defending from their side.

Villa fans must be gutted at missing the game though – can you imagine the atmosphere there would have been in the Holte End. And what Spurs fans who used to travel every week – how frustrating can that be despite a great result.

And what about Leicester's 3-0 defeat earlier in the day. No one expected that result except florescum whose Hammers tip was a cracker so well done there.

There was drama in Scotland too with Celtic saving rescuing a bet with their late, late show to beat St Johnstone 2-0. Scott Allot's VIP single was Celtic -1 at 13-10 so he went from zero to hero in the blink of an eye.

Mark Walker also got out of jail with Celtic to win to nil and Kevin Mac and SlipsTips both had winners on their match previews but my trebles were both beaten by one goal – Bologna failing to score and Rangers winning by two and not three.

And on the Continent Robert Lewandowski netted four – including a last-minute winner – as Bayern Munich won a 4-3 thriller against Hertha Berlin.

Napoli refused to play at Juventus whose entire squad were in self-isolation and you can fully understand that decision. All bookies should be voiding all bets and no one will pay out on Juve winning 3-0 if that's awarded to them.

Unfortunately we're now on an international break so not much to look at until Thursday when one of the big games is Scotland's Nations League play-off against Israel.

There are some second-string Dutch and Belgian games on Monday and a National League card on Tuesday as well as Betfred Cup group games but not much else to look at.
